View Full Details of Stowford HouseThe care and kindness shown to our friend on our visits is amazing. I have no doubt that he is looked after so well and all his needs are met with dignity. From staff on reception, to maintenance to the chef, everybody is so caring
My mother has been in Stowford for 18 months and really enjoys it, she loves the activities and enjoys the lovely food. All the staff are very nice and always ready to help her, whatever she needs is not ever a problem. Most of all she enjoys the company of the other residents and having a good chat with them over dinner. Well done Stowford House, keep up the good work.
I believe my mother is in a very welcoming and supportive care home. I believe she is be looked after medically, physically and mentally in a very professional setting. The staff are very welcoming and very helpful. If I have one thing that is disappointing it is the cleaning of my mother's room which could be better. Also my mother needs a straw in order to drink her tea and other drinks, because of the collar she wears. Unfortunately very often she isn't given one.
My mother has been resident in Stowford House since February 2023. It is an extremely friendly home and she is very happy there. All residents are treated with respect and they are persuaded to join in the varied activities wherever possible. Christmas 2024 has been a particular highlight with carol services, a Christmas party and then, in the new year, a pantomime which have been much enjoyed.
All staff are very caring and empathetic to the needs of the residents. The lifestyles team provide a very varied programme of activities to suit all needs and encourage family to join in. The Panto was brilliant and well received by all. I cannot fault the care Mum has received in Stowford House since she arrived and the friendly atmosphere makes it home from home. Thank you all very much.
Clean, well run with pleasant staff who are willing to listen to any request. Food good but needs to be served hotter and more in keeping with timetable. Activities are varied and well motivated. The exercise class given by the outside person is longer and with more interaction with the residents than the Scottish video exercises.
There's no question that my father's health has improved considerably during the last 12 months directly due to the level of care provided by the staff at Stowford House. His room is always immaculate and very clean, as is the rest of the building, the carers are always attentive and the quality of the food is likely better than he has ever eaten. Thank you to all of the team for the fantastic job they're doing.
The staff are always so friendly and seem to really enjoy their interactions with the residents. They are always welcoming to me as a visitor. I always enjoy my visits there and come away feeling happy.
Both my mum and dad were in Stowford House entering at different times. Previous to Stowford my mum was in another local home but I moved her within 3 months because they left her alone for too long and did not assist her in accessing any activities. It was clear she was very lonely and upset. Not so the case with Stowford where the improvement in my mum was almost immediate The care given to both my mum and dad was outstanding and I was kept informed as their conditions deteriorated ultimately leading to them both passing away within the last 3 months. Whilst my dad passed away sooner than expected my mum deteriorated over a longer time. The care she received to ensure she was comfortable in her last days was amazing. Many things about the home impressed me but the most outstanding is the number of activities and events the home puts on for its residents to ensure that they keep their minds and bodies active - follow them on social media to see for yourself.
The care I have witnessed during the lunchtime period in the home has been outstanding. My dad has now progressed further in the horrible stages of Alzheimer's and needs feeding and soft foods. The staff watch over all the residents with so much care, it is extremely touching! They all show compassion and I found myself feeling overwhelmed. I just wish other relatives could have witnessed the same as I did.
The staff always treat Dad with respect and spend time with him when in a group of residents or on an individual basis. Their efforts in helping Dad with his exercises and needs are greeted with smiles and conversation (which can be confusing) but they will treat him as a valuable member of the home community. All staff are much appreciated by me and the rest of the family.
When first entering the home the receptionist is always helpful. The helpers have encouraged Dad to get involved in activities and interact with the other residents. After Mum passed away who was also in the home they sat and helped Dad to understand what had happened. Mum painted a picture just before she died which the helper framed and it is now hanging in Dad's room. The nurses always keep us informed of any changes. The overall appearance of the home is clean and inviting.
My mother became a resident at Stowford House as she required 24/7 nursing care following several weeks in hospital earlier this year. She had become seriously ill in her own home and has had to adapt to a new way of life since her recovery. All the staff involved with her care have displayed sensitivity and an understanding of the difficult transition she has had to make. Personally I have appreciated the help and support that the reception, maintenance and management staff have given me while my mother has settled in. I am very pleased that my mother is at Stowford House as I know she is both safe and is having a high standard of care.
My sister has spent nearly two years at Stowford House after being transferred from the hospital. Her stay will soon be coming to an end, and she will be going home. I have visited every two weeks, as I live 50 miles away. I spend about 9 hours each visit so I have so I have got to know a lot of the team. They have all been fantastic. I have witnessed the care they take when dealing with my sister who has multiple sclerosis and is bed-bound. I will miss not seeing them, but glad my sister is at last home.
I am very happy with Stowford House. My dad has settled in well. His room is spacious and nicely furnished. The bathroom is good too, with plenty of space for all his toiletries. The food is good, with choices for each meal and a rotating menu. Drinks and snacks are available whenever the residents want. The activities provided are very varied. I particularly like the way activities are posted on social media. It is very comforting to see my dad joining in and enjoying himself. The staff all seem very nice, and I feel my dad is well looked after.
Both Mum and Dad went into Stowford House at the end of March. They were both in rooms opposite one another as they didn't want to be separated as they would have had their 75th wedding anniversary in August. In April my mother who had dementia became very poorly and passed away on the 27th after being in the home for just over 5 weeks. She was treated with respect, dignity and kindness right up until the end. They looked after my father superbly at a very difficult time for him. All the staff have been caring, and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for any of them.
My husband was cared for by very dedicated and kind carers, who not only ensured he was treated with great respect but also with such gentleness during his final weeks.
Care is good, and feel Dad is looked after well. We are notified of any changes in his health quickly. Staff are always very friendly, and there are key staff who know Dad very well. Thank you for all your hard work.
The home provides great facilities ad care for our loved ones. The activities they put on for the residents are wonderful, and even if your loved one isn't keen, they will encourage them to either watch or join in. These activities really do enrich their lives. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
My gran enjoys many of the activities at Stowford House. She loves singing, dancing and animal visits. She takes part in the crafts, but her eyesight is failing, which means she gets less out of it. That's why it is so important for her to do a mixture of things. The activities manager is so good and listing to her likes and arranges great things for her to do. Thank you.
