I visited my dad on 14/2/2020 lunchtime and I was very distressed
because he was in a mess. His personal care had not been attended to,
he hadn't had a shower, shaved for a few days (from the length of his
facial hair) or a change of clothes. His room had not been cleaned, his
bed hadn't been made. This is not the first time this has happened, so
I thought it would be right to write to you. There was nobody in the
office or the manager desk, so I spoke to the staff who were in the
kitchen area. I was told that they were short-staffed and also my dad
didn't have a shave because he refuses to have one. I know that the
staff are trained to coax patients with dementia to do things they don't
want to do. Awaiting to hear from you soon.
