View Full Details of SandfieldsWhen I began my search for a Care Home for my aunt, I really didn't know where to begin as I lived a long way from Cheltenham and did not know the area. A friend of my aunt had recommended Sandfields so I began my search there. I didn't need to look any further. I was shown around by a very professional lady who explained everything during my tour of the Home. Having decided on the Home, a couple of staff visited my aunt with a brochure before she moved there to explain everything and reassure her. The transition went very smoothly and my aunt was extremely happy there for the final 2 years of her life. The care she received was superb and the staff often went above and beyond. Unfortunately she was bed-bound for most of her stay so could not take full advantage of the activities, visits and outings that the home offered. The food was always amazing. The quality of the food was excellent and the staff would often prepare special meals for her as she struggled to eat some food.
I have become extremely concerned about the lack of staff, non-existing activities (especially at Weekends) and lack of communication. I have reported this to management but have received no response. There appears to be great unhappiness in all care sectors and with the high fees charged and increase in April, the issue is unacceptable.
My father is very well cared for at Sandfields. The staff quickly worked out how to deal with his needs. The care, support and attention to detail provided on his suite is outstanding. Everyone is so kind, very helpful and friendly. The team leaders run the suite very efficiently and the team works extremely well together. The activities team are welcoming and runs a big program of activities for all abilities. They are brilliant with the residents, creative and welcoming. Everyone has been so kind and helpful since Dad arrived 6 months ago. It's a lovely care home with a very homely environment and a well-kept garden. Dad loves the food, afternoon tea and going to the cafe downstairs. His room is modern, clean, warm and safe.
Mum's been here over a year now and things are as good as they've always been. The staff are amazing. So caring. The home always has a friendly buzz for residents, family, staff, and friends. There's always things going on if Mum wants to join in.
Dad was admitted for respite care after being in hospital very ill. The staff made the transition quick and gave us lots of help and advice. A stressful time made it a little easier. Excellent facilities, clean, welcoming amazing carers. Dad even likes the food after nearly 2 years of eating very poorly, he was malnourished.
Thank you to all the team and Sandfields for making the transition into care for my Dad so seamless. Every single member of staff I have met has been so friendly, knowledgeable and caring and the facilities are always spotlessly clean and of a very good standard.
I like the ambience, the staff is friendly and helpful. Love the Cafe area and think the garden area is well thought out. Staff always have time to talk to me and I have no concerns regarding Mum's safety and wellbeing. As an ex-nurse - the place smells nice! No stale urine or cabbage!
My mother-in-law joined the Sandfields community only recently but has already made it her home and is very happy. The staff are all amazing and always have time for her with lots of activities she can join in with, her favourite being art where she has hours of fun. The whole of Sandfields feels inviting, homely and comforting. Mum has commented that it's lovely to have company and not be on her own but has the space to do so if she wants time in her room. Not that she is ever there, we usually have to take a tour to find her as she may be in the Art room, the Cinema, the Cafe or even the hairdresser. Thank you to Sandfields for putting our minds at rest and caring for Mum in a dignified and special way that we no longer can. And putting the smile back on her lovely face and hearing her laugh again.
My mother was not at all well when we decided she (and we) needed respite care. We selected Sandfields based on recommendations from others and arranged a two-week stay in August. Mom was welcomed, shown to her room and helped to settle. She was helped to organise herself and taken to dinner with the other residents. Over the two-week period of care, Mom became very settled and her health improved. She decided that she was very happy at Sandfield and wanted to stay. She has made friends with quite a few of the residents and carers and will happily tell anyone (and everyone) how nice it is not to worry about anything anymore. Mom really enjoys the activities and events that happen daily. On the health and well-being side, it is clear that now Mom has a healthy, well-balanced and well-cooked diet her health has improved considerably. Regular Doctor/Nurse visits and very well-trained care staff are very reassuring. We are very happy with the choice of the care home and everything it offers to Mom.
My Mother has been a resident of Sandfields for some 3 years and it has been her home in the true sense of the word. All the staff have become like family to her and us (including my siblings) - her actual family. She has always been treated with dignity and respect, always clean, dressed, groomed with hair and nails looking immaculate. The staff, those involved in her personal care and those behind the scenes are very special people - kind and considerate, nothing is too much trouble. The lifestyle team have a full programme of events for all the residents, everything from quizzes, films, trips out in the minibus, craft projects, baking, animal visits etc. They do all they can to make sure there are social events for a whole range of activities without ever forcing anyone to attend. Sandfields is an amazing and very special home - care - they absolutely do 100 per cent every day. I could not have wished for a better place for Mum to have enjoyed her final few years.
Very friendly staff, always helpful. Feel my sister is well cared for. Nice garden to wander in. Activities are very good to keep my sister active. Very good coffee lounge for meeting other people. All in all, excellent.
Both my parents now live at Sandfields. Dad (93) has very severe dementia and it is such a relief to know he is safe and cared for 24/7. The staff are so kind and patient and I can't imagine a better environment for him to be in. Mum (90) has been suffering badly from all sorts of age-related conditions for years and severe depression. She was having carers at home twice a day at £35/hour. After 6 months at Sandfields, she is really thriving. A combination of proper care, proper hygiene, proper food, kind staff, a community of other people around her, lovely spaces (garden and coffee shop), a variety of activities she sometimes joins in, kindness and attention. All family members that visit cannot believe the change in her health and mood. For less than £11/hour too!
I cannot praise Sandfields highly enough. The staff are all dedicated to giving the residents the quality of life they deserve. The management team are highly visible and are always ready to listen and help.
Staff friendly, attentive, approachable and kind. Great activities and an inclusive atmosphere for all. Clean and organized, though sometimes Dad's clean laundry ends up with others! The cafe is comfortable and welcoming for visitors.
Caring staff who go the extra mile. Mum is very well cared for, secure, safe and happy. The entertainment programme is excellent. I can't think of anything they could improve on. Overall the experience has been wonderful - as a family member you are always made welcome - and the cafe is a great environment to meet others and socialise.
Mum came to Sandfields for respite but chose to stay as her mobility wouldn't' allow independent living in her own house. We initially visited a few care homes in the area and Sandfields was the only one where all members of staff smiled and/or spoke to us. Mum was very anxious about moving from her family home; Sandfields' staff have been brilliant at reassuring her and making her feel welcome. Sandfields is clean, bright and alive. Events and trips are put on for the residents, but Mum especially likes the café area near reception, spending most of her free time there, watching people come and go. We particularly like the free drinks and cake! Mum misses old neighbours but, with no visiting restrictions, rarely has a day without family or friends. The food is good and varied but what really makes the place home is the staff. Our family are so grateful to the staff who are caring, compassionate, empathetic and understanding to each individual resident in a fun, respectful way.
Amazing staff and facilities, my father receives outstanding care. I have no hesitation in recommending Sandfields. All the staff are very friendly and show high levels of care. Superb location in central Cheltenham with lovely outside space and convenient on-site parking.
Very welcoming to us and our dog! Felt more like a hotel than a care home. Plenty of attentive friendly staff. Beautiful outdoor space. The cafe area is an especially useful space for visitors and residents to socialise.
Staff seem lovely and all take the time to speak to my Grandma. The garden is a lovely space which I know she appreciates as she spent a lot of time on her own. The activities available seem to be well run. She seems to settling in nicely.
My mother has been a resident since November 2022. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Activities are great and always encourages Mum to partake and sit in the lounge. The food is good and varied. Critical staff are attentive and focused and cared for by management to the resident's benefit!
