View Full Details of Apple Trees Care and Reablement CentreI had been in hospital for 8 weeks. Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre really helped me progress ready to go home. I felt safe and cared for. The staff were really kind and patient. Some of the other patients were so helpful too and in turn, when I was more able I felt able to help and encourage others. Carry on with your supportive work.
My mother has dementia and has been a resident since January 2024. Mum has now been itching for 8 months as there have been repeated outbreaks of scabies and in my mother's case these have been identified not by staff who see her everyday, but by visiting family who have demanded attention from a medic. She has been covered in insecticide so often to deal with scabies (which has made her unwell) that last time the doctor prescribed a drug so vicious she had the paramedics out twice when she collapsed. My mother was always smartly dressed, when she moved into the home she had many clothes. Almost all of them have either disappeared or been destroyed - when I visited at the weekend she was in bed because she was cold and she had no warm base layers of clothing left and was dressed in someone else's pyjama top. The home claimed daily activities and trips out in the home's minibus - there haven't been organised activities for months and my mother has never been out in the minibus.
I have just completed a four-week active recovery bed course at Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre. When I first arrived, I could barely stand but now thanks to the incredible help and support from the carers at Apple Trees I am leaving with the confidence to walk independently and even prepare my own drinks and snacks. My experience has been exceptional. They treated everyone with dignity, always remaining friendly and offering excellent care and support. The food and drink were also of a high standard. I would highly recommend this course to anyone in need of recovery assistance.
My mother came to Apple Trees Reablement Home and was very ill, she was able to rest and recover and the care she received from all the staff was amazing. Her medication was given at regular times and food in the dining room meant interaction with other people. After the 20+ days she was well enough to be discharged and enjoyed her 90th birthday at home with family, she is continuing to eat well and is looking forward to her holiday in August. The family thank Apple Trees for their dedication and care to all your residents.
My mother was a resident for four weeks, she was so poorly when she arrived but the care and respite she received at Apple Trees completely transformed her. We loved the homely atmosphere, access to the kitchen for pots of tea and cake. Flexibility over visiting times was wonderful allowing us to drop in any time of the day. We can't thank Apple Trees enough for enabling Mum to return to her own home.
My mother left hospital in very poor health and luckily got a room in Apple Trees. Within 7 days her health picked up along with her morale. The staff were so helpful and understanding. From being extremely nervous about going into a home she has now recovered a lot of her confidence as well as her health improving. Even though the final outlook for my mum is not great I cannot emphasize how good my mum's care and treatment has been in Apple Trees.
My mother was so well looked after. Staff could not do enough for her absolutely fantastic. Would recommend to anybody.
My mum has dementia and has been a resident at Apple Trees since May 2023. My daughter and I viewed a couple of care homes in the area and Apple Trees was the one that stood out. I'm pleased to say Mum has settled down really well and loves taking part in the various activities and going out on supervised outings. The areas within the care home are always clean, the rooms are very comfortable and all the staff, whether it be carers, domestic or office staff are second to none. Everyone is always so cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend Apple Trees and I know I made the right choice for Mum.
My wife came to Apple Trees on a reablement program with a view to engage again so she would be able to return home after 4 weeks of care. However, due to cognitive impairment, she refused to eat and latterly drink and passed away on the 21st of December. We would not fault the efforts made by staff to try and get her to eat. Her room was well appointed, perhaps cot sides to the bed would be a useful addition? The lounge, dining room and kitchen areas were all good and initially, she enjoyed being in the lounge with the other residents and staff. She felt comfortable at Apple Trees and in fact, referred to it as 'home'.
My sister has mixed dementia, depression and chronic pain. Despite this staff have worked hard to maintain her general happy disposition. This has made so much difference to her life. She now feels safe, supported and cared for in Apple Trees. All of the staff know the residents and maintain supportive relationships. This includes office, laundry, kitchen and maintenance staff. There’s an atmosphere of supportiveness and understanding among the staff teams and residents. The households are all separate but there’s freedom to move around the home for the residents. The staff are all kept updated with information on any changes or concerns quickly shared on the new electronic system for them to check regularly. The food is freshly prepared and good quality, care is taken with the menus and resident's preferences and needs are individually catered for. There’s always something to eat and drink available.
My mother was in Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre for rehabilitation care and was treated with respect but challenged, as appropriate, for her to improve her health and well-being to get back home, following a stay in hospital.
Mum has been in Apple Trees for over a year and a half. The home provides a safe and caring environment for my mum, who has dementia. Knowing the care home manager is a registered nurse gives us peace of mind that Mum's care is overseen by that of a trained clinician, and whilst the support workers are supportive in their direct care, we feel assured that outcomes are achieved with other health care professionals with a much bigger emphasis on clinical care. The staff have become her extended family and offer support to both myself and my sister whilst catering to Mum's specific needs.
Beautiful building and interior. Great atmosphere, very welcoming and helpful staff - very attentive. Great rooms and food.
My mother was a resident at Appletrees for 11 months up until early July 2023. During that time, the care that she received was fantastic. The staff were always welcoming, polite, smiley, helpful and professional, and always treated all of the residents with respect. If I ever had a query or problem regarding my mother's care it would be discussed and a solution found and implemented quickly. I often quietly observed the dedication of the staff, doing what is often a challenging and difficult job; true affection being displayed for those under their care. I would thoroughly recommend Appletrees.
After a fall at home, my gran needed some time to rest and recover. Since day one, all of the staff at Apple Trees made sure she was comfortable and happy and had everything she needed to grow stronger and earn back as much independence as she possibly could. Nothing was too much trouble, all of the staff were always happy to answer any questions we had or reassure us of any of our worries. Special mention to one staff member, who always came over for a chat and offered us a hot drink, and made sure we were looked after and felt welcome. He is an asset to the team! Keep doing what you’re doing Apple Trees.
I have noticed that the staff are arranging activities which are nice to see, my mum seems to enjoy these. There are also new jigsaws, again which Mum enjoys. The staff are very helpful and extremely patient with my dad who can be trying. There do seem to be more staff on duty than there used to be. I don't know if this means there is a retention issue or if it is a reflection of the care sector in general, we are told, though we are very happy.
Staff very courteous and caring, good food, comfortable room and facilities. Will be sad to leave after reablement stay. Staff incrediblyhelpful and happy to have a little chat as they're passing by.
Despite initial reservations about care homes in general (unfounded!) We have found Apple Trees to be a wonderful sanctuary for those people unfortunate to be able to live at home no longer. The staff are dedicated, hard-working, well trained and kind - more like old friends than just care workers. The accommodation is excellent, roomy, cheerful and comfortable. The food is well-chosen, varied, well cooked and plentiful. Visitors are encouraged and made welcome - a home from home.
Have been very impressed with the care and staff, my father took a bit of time to settle in but now feeling content with the care he is getting, the room is nice size and the facilities therein are excellent, staff are always attentive and kind, father is now looking and feeling better.
We have been really happy with the home. We love the open plan layout. Everywhere is clean and well kept. All the staff have been very friendly and always helpful. We can always ask how our mum is and they either know or find out for us. The outside area has been great this summer, we can sit outside under the shelter. We are delighted we have found a home that meets Mum's needs.
