View Full Details of Mr C'sMy very elderly mother was resident at Mr C's care home for approximately three months. She had early onset dementia and had broken her hip at home, therefore necessitating the facilities of a care home, post operation to aid her recovery. She was cared for by the whole staff in an exemplary manner, each and every one of the staff had a big smile and very friendly disposition. I was made welcome anytime of the day or evening when visiting. Communication was excellent at all times and whenever I had a question regarding any aspect of her care a satisfactory answer was always given. The doctors and nurses were always consulted immediately when an issue arose regarding her health. I got the impression that the whole staff including those cleaning and maintaining the property took a real pride in their job and thoroughly enjoyed working together, this is a good indicator that the establishment is well led. Well done all. Keep up the high standard in what is a very demanding job.
If you love your relative do not send them here. Whilst the staff try their best, they appear to be under-trained in certain areas and understaffed. My mum was left to sit in her own urine for hours as well as being left unattended in a chair she could not get up from without any way of calling for assistance. We removed her within 24 hours of her being placed at Mr C's.
If you cherish your family, avoid this place like the plague! My mum was sent there for respite in August and was meant to stay for two weeks. She ended up dying in there. It’s disgusting! She got ill in November with a huge lump in her stomach and they didn’t even bother to tell me! They wouldn’t even ring an ambulance to take her to the hospital! The only person who let me know anything was one member of weekend staff that said: “your mum smells of death.” That’s the first time I knew anything was seriously wrong. He sent me a horrendous video of her so I could see her in the state she was in. She suffered and was completely stripped of her dignity up until she died. It took me ages to get in there to say goodbye to her because they kept fobbing me off. When I and my daughter got in there, she was in agony. She was groaning and moaning and couldn’t even swallow her own spit. In the end, I had to call her GP to try and help her. Her ring also went missing and was never recovered.
My mother stayed at Mr C's for intermediate care after a horrendous ordeal through an amputation. These people cared for my mum, made her laugh, lifted her spirits and I can't thank them enough. The home is kept extremely clean everywhere, it's light and spacious, no dark dreary corners. All the staff are approachable so if there are any queries they are happy to talk and discuss them with you, nothing was too much trouble. The day my mum left Mr C's and said her goodbyes there were tears from staff and that shows how caring they are. I was so choked up I had to say thank you and goodbye quickly to them but I still want to say a huge thank you to you all at Mr C's for everything you did for Mum and replenished her spirit that enabled her to return home.
My great grandmother was in this care home for just under a week and was treated very badly, the first night she was in there the buzzer for assistance wasn’t working and she was made to get out of bed by herself when she wasn’t strong enough to even walk. The food in there was absolutely vile and was rock solid. The state of the rooms was disgusting and needed a good clean. After a couple of nights of being there, she had a fall and no one was informed that she had fallen and they said they needed permission for them to call her when my grandmother already said to keep her updated and she was left on the floor until the paramedics arrived. When the cleaner finally arrived they tried cleaning her room while she was eating her lunch. I do not recommend to anyone.
My dear mother was a resident until she finally passed away of cancer. All the staff were so attentive and kind and Mr C's is so smart a fresh my mother thought she was staying in a hotel. I can't thank you all enough for your kindness and care.
Thank you for the care and devotion you showed towards my dad who passed away Monday 1st October 2018. I have visited a lot of care homes in the Torbay area when my mum was poorly. They were mostly very nicely furnished and had nice surroundings. But none of them shared the care and devotion that the staff at Mr C’s showed towards my dad especially the manager and her deputy. They kept me informed at every opportunity and were open and honest. Don’t be fooled by appearances. This home might look a bit tired on the inside. But if you want your relative to receive the care that they deserve, I would highly recommend Mr C’s. Thank-you to all the staff that cared for my dad in his last few weeks.
My father was at Mr C's for about 3 weeks before he died. My first impression of Mr C's was not good (I turned up and the door was not locked I let myself in) but how wrong I was. The staff are amazing. I told the manager about the door and she came with me to inspect it and we could see that it was not latching. She immediately got onto somebody to fix it. One of the staff members was great with my dad. She fed him as he was very weak and the chef who I've forgotten his name was great as well as another member of staff who looked after my dad. I live 200 miles away and I phoned him on several occasions and they would take the phone to him. She phoned me when my dad died. All I can say is thank you. You made a hard time less painful knowing my dad was comfortable at the end of his life. I'm sorry it took so long to write this but I have tears in my eyes writing this. I miss him.
