View Full Details of The William WilberforceMy husband suffers from dementia and was admitted to the home in April. I had visited earlier and was impressed by its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I talked to staff and watched their interactions with the residents, and it was clear that their well-being was paramount. I found staff approachable but respectful and I could see that they knew their residents well. At times his behaviour was challenging but the staff dealt with his difficulties with compassion and understanding. I have been consulted and involved in his care along the way and staff keep me informed of any changes or issues. Sometimes he is able to participate in the activities that are always on offer- he particularly likes the music sessions. On other days he prefers to snooze in his own comfortable room. Always it's his choice. I am so grateful to all at the home who provide such excellent support and care to both my husband and me knowing that he is so well cared for that gives me my peace of mind.
Our parents became residents at William Wilberforce in 2022, our experience has been very positive. Staff always offer warm greetings and professional care to all visitors, families and professionals. Sadly, Dad passed away at the home, the palliative care provided to him and our family was handled with dignity and respect. The staff's dedication to all residents, including Mum, is clear. Families are encouraged to join Individual Care Plan meetings, ensuring a person-centred approach. We appreciate being included in family meetings, where the home provide updates and welcome suggestions. Communication is excellent, with regular updates and photos, keeping us informed. Mum, in the later stages of dementia, enjoys activities like music and dancing, which support her physical and emotional well-being. The home takes pride in its cleanliness with beautiful gardens safe for residents. We highly recommend William Wilberforce Care Home for its care, professionalism, and warm, safe environment.
My mum has been at The William Wilberforce for over 6 years; my 4 siblings and I celebrated our mum's 100th birthday; we are more than happy with this care home their attention to detail is very good; they are caring and sincere. I talk to all the staff and they are friendly including the maintenance/gardeners men them all every time we attend. I am happy to recommend The William Wilberforce and also my mum praises the staff regularly.
The team at William Wilberforce provide a caring and professionally managed environment. Access to medical care is good. My only suggestion would be to improve the WiFi, which rarely worked in the bedroom.
From the moment we walked into the home we were made part of the William Wilberforce family. The staff are a friendly, professional, fun group of people and the care that my mother receives is exemplary. The management team talked us through the stages of dementia and what can be expected next and guided us sensitively through her recent end-of-life diagnosis. They have taken such wonderful care of my mother in a beautifully furnished and cared-for environment. With each stage of her decline in mobility, they have organised new equipment and furniture tailored to her needs. We are always kept in touch with any change in her medication, mood or condition. The medical staff who visit are excellent. Friends and family are now invited to share entertainment and coffee with the residents - wonderfully hosted by the dedicated staff. We feel so lucky that my mother is in such a lovely care home where she is a valued member of its community and treated with love, kindness and respect.
My Grandmother was extremely well cared for by William Wilberforce Staff. All staff are caring and kind - however, I have special 'shout outs' to the Deputy Care Manager, such a pleasant and caring man - always has time for you - cannot give him enough credit - goes over and beyond for your loved one and visitors. Two other staff members were also 'extra' amazing when caring for my Grandmother - they all really did make it feel like 'home' for Grandma and as a family, could not have wished for anymore. The care home really is like a 5-star hotel and you can be reassured your loved one will be cared for and looked after 24/7 here, especially by the staff member at night, who always made my Grandmother chuckle! I cannot thank you all enough and of course, the Manager for being an amazing Manager.
Above all, constant care and attention from the carers. Pleasant and clean ensuite rooms. Lovely dining room with good meals served. Kind and caring staff. Visitors always made welcome. Good entertainment but quiet if desired. TV in every room. Good garden. Elegant furniture. Never any unpleasant smells.
I cannot say enough to praise the care given to my mum who died peacefully in her sleep after being admitted to The William Wilberforce after her fractured hip 5 months previously. She had her 90th birthday there and she was made to feel very special. Night and day staff did all they could to keep us informed throughout especially the last few days of her life.
My father was admitted to The William Wilberforce Care Home in January 2022 and remained there until his death in May 2022. Throughout his stay, my father received a very high standard of care; the staff treated my father as an individual and often as if he were 'one of their own relatives. I have nothing but compliments for the whole team at The William Wilberforce and cannot thank them enough for the support and care that they gave my father during his final months. In addition to the care they gave my father, the staff were very supportive to me and my family and always had time to discuss any concerns we had about his health.
Mum was in the care home for four months until she passed away. The level of care was exceptional, we could see that there was real connection between mum and the staff, the family will forever be grateful for their help at a difficult time.
After being disappointed with the care of my aunt and uncle had at another care home, it was such a relief to find The William Wilberforce. I can confidently state that they saved my uncles life when they realised he was septic after his admission and arranged for his transfer to hospital. He enjoyed another year of care before he finally passed in October. They also ensured my aunt who was left after his passing had the support she needed as it was very difficult with the pandemic. The staff have been fantastic in very difficult circumstances. Sadly my aunt has now also passed, and they gave her great support to the very end. Before the pandemic, I was impressed with the facilities available, and they worked very hard to make the best of the situation. I spent two weeks with my aunt at the end and was able to hear all the care that was provided to the residents passing by. It was invariably kind and sympathetic. My eternal thanks to the team.
The William Wilberforce is professional, caring and a genuinely thoughtful environment. It is well laid out, stimulating and run to a very high standard. It combines all the luxury of a five-star hotel with the warmth and comfort of home, offering complete dignity.
Everything and everybody was very good. Care and support were balanced to the individual. Will definitely return.
