View Full Details of Gedling Village Care HomeAbsolutely fantastic home, staff are friendly, and caring. It's so clean lots of great activities for residents, our Grandad was here for end-of-life care, he couldn't have been in a better place. I would definitely recommend Gedling Care Home.
A year on since moving our mother here she is thriving. She is very well looked after here and loved like a family member. This is a lovely home. The staff are very caring. The rooms are spotless and the lounge is airy with constant activities to enjoy. We are kept well informed as necessary. The food is homecooked with a lovely varied choice. Gedling Village Care Home is one big family and I strongly recommend it.
My husband had been in GV for respite - March 24 husband moved in permanently - very happy with the care he receives. I am also treated kindly and welcome to stay for my dinner! Everywhere is tidy and clean! My husband can be difficult at times but treated with respect and sensitivity.
It is really comforting for our family to know that Mum is in a really safe and friendly environment at this stage of her life, where she is no longer able to live independently. She particularly enjoys all the activities put on daily by the staff, especially anything to do with a particular creche, the therapy pets and all the celebrations where friends and family join in... the list goes on!
My friend loves it here and si very happy. Food is always appetising, portions are generous. Activities are varied with something dor everyone. Garden facilities are improved.
Staff are friendly, caring and supportive. Management team always make sure that my mum is well looked after and safe. I have not seen my mother so happy for years.
Very friendly and welcoming from all staff. Food is good quality, especially the cakes! Well looked after. It would be good to have more regular outings and everyone involved in activities. Hair salon excellent.
We, as a family, have found Gedling Village very professional and caring. Our relative has settled in quite well and has made many new friends. All staff I've encountered have been absolutely brilliant. They have a wide range of entertainment for all residents. Food seems of good quality. All in all, as a family, we're very happy.
After receiving care in the community for my dad with respite in-between it just wasn't working for either him or my mum! So without hesitation, we decided the best and safest way forward was respite with a view to permanent at Gedling Village! My mum and dad both get quality time with each other every day! I know my dad is getting a healthy balanced diet and round-the-clock care and support which at 78 he deserves! The day my dad arrived at Gedling Village the team noticed straight away he had an infection in his legs (which community care had failed to notice) they were on it straight away, had the GP out and prescribed antibiotics that day! This is definitely a home-from-home! And I get regular updates on how he is etc. The whole team are absolutely amazing, kind and welcoming and goes above and beyond for residents and their families! So much so, I am volunteering at their monthly memory café where the activities co-ordinater goes above and beyond to make this happen! Outstanding team.
My mum came to Gedling Village Care Home in June 2023, in the next 7 months she was to fall over 12 times... I will leave it to your own judgment as to why she was allowed to fall over so many times in this so-called care home. When she had her last fall she was admitted to hospital. Whilst she was in hospital we learned that the care home would not have my mum back, they never even had the guts to tell us to our face! They charge the obscene amount of £1000 per week but when somebody actually needs some effort put into their care this place is not interested, but I suppose I should be grateful that my mum came out of this place alive! On top of all this they connive with nasty vile social workers behind your back. To anyone thinking of using this place, please think again, it may look nice on the surface but behind the scenes it most certainly is not. Choose a smaller care home where your loved one will get the care they deserve.
My first impressions of the home were good, friendly, and clean and the staff were always around to help. The general dining room is very nice and spacious and tables are very well laid out and decorative. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the single rooms (excellent!). Breakfast was lovely with a varied selection. Externally, the garden is nice with display features and it has a lovely large veranda when the climate is friendly.
I have found the care to the patients 100%. They look after them with entertainment to keep their minds active and couldn't ask for a better place to send my family to.
My grandma is often left in bed in her nighty all day, often after 1pm she is still in her nighty and hasn’t even had a wash, this is basic human rights care. Today 4/11/23 she was unwashed in bed at 2:30pm. We had to dress and get her to have a wash ourselves. We have had to throw away a considerable amount of her clothes due to them being shrunk in the wash. Her sheepskin rug was also washed and shrunk and ruined, which really upset my grandma, as she loved the rug. Some carers are brilliant, however, the top floor is often forgotten about and left unattended for considerable amounts of time, my gran's buzzer has been ringing for over 30 minutes without a peep from anyone on several occasions.
My mother has been here for over a year and on numerous occasions a lack of information and communication has been a major concern of mine. This is especially common between management and family and is becoming very frustrating. This is definitely an area for improvement as it is lacking here. I can't always do a face-to-face as I prefer to spend time with Mum, so I email my concerns usually regarding a recent incident. These are not replied to for days, weeks and sometimes not at all.
I am very happy with the care at Gedling Village. I find everyone very helpful.
The staff team are always warm and welcoming and have lovely, warm relationships with each of those that they care for. The staff seem to know each person they care for really well and understand their individual needs. In my experience, staff communicate really well with those that they care for and always respond to them with dignity and respect, giving them choices. My mum is very settled and happy here and has close relationships with staff members. The home is managed well and is very centred on all those who live in the home and the staff team.
A nice calming place - doesn't feel like a care home. Everything is spotlessly clean all the time. All staff are very friendly, polite and extremely helpful to residents and family. We would like to thank everyone for their constant care and concern to all the family.
My mum was in the Gedling Village Care Home from December 2022 to May 2023, when she sadly passed away. The management have the most amazing team onboard, they helped Mum keep her dignity and nothing was too much trouble. They did loads of activities with Mum, her cleanliness was so very good and the food was amazing. I can't praise the staff enough, they are so kind and supportive, they listen and were wonderful with me and my sister. Theyy are just the most excellent place and team.
Mum had mixed dementia and went to the care home in December 2022, until May 2023 when she died from her vascular dementia. The care that my mum received was outstanding from the manager down to the housekeeping staff. Everyone went above and beyond to not only care for Mum but also to care for myself and my sister. We felt that we had been included in a wonderful family unit. We cannot thank everyone enough for their love and support. Mum could not have been in a better place at the end of her life.
Fantastic staff and lovely care home setting. My husband settled very well in here and loved the staff. He was looked after very well and I was always made to feel welcome when I came to visit. Very modern, clean and airy rooms. The manager and the team go above and beyond.
