View Full Details of Acorn House Care HomeMy sister was diagnosed with dementia a few years ago, and despite this, she was able to life in her own property until the dementia became more difficult to handle. After a period with carers visiting twice daily, it was decided that a suitable Care Home should be sought. Having been born in Nottingham, and spending most of her life in the city, we decided to look for somewhere local to her. Thankfully, we were recommended to pay a visit to Acorn House, and after tour by welcoming staff, we put Acorn at the top of our list. We visited a few other Homes, although non came anywhere near to offering the care and facilities that Acorn did, so we began arrangements for her to move in. Initially, she was offered a room on the floor that accommodated the more serious cases of dementia, which she found difficult. Very soon though, Acorn offered her a room on another floor where she quickly made friends, and became more settled. Thank you Acorn, you guys are great.
I just wanted to say how amazing you all are. My Dad moved into Acorn House about a year and a half ago and you have worked so hard to make it feel like home, as you do for all of the residents. You are all so welcoming; from the reception, cleaning and catering staff to the carers and managers. The unsung heroes are always the night staff who I rarely get to meet but keep my dad safe at night and of course the maintenance man! Dad isn't that keen on joining in with the many varied activities that you provide but you always do your best to include him. Communication is key to any successful organisation and your approach to this is second to none! It's never an easy decision to move a loved one into a care home but it has given me and my dad a chance to be Dad and daughter again and not carer and patient and I will forever appreciate this! You are all winners to me! With love and appreciation.
Whenever I visit my Grandad at Acorn House, the home is always clean and welcoming. He always looks smart and well cared for. There is always plenty of staff around to help him and look after him. He seems very happy and he likes to join in the activities. He goes out to the local cafe and on the bus with some of the activity staff, which he enjoys. I am happy to recommend this home.
The staff, facilities and environment are all top quality at Acorn House. Everything from the activities to the food is great. My mother-in-law has felt safe and well cared for since the day she moved in. I'm very grateful for all the support she has received.
Excellent staff. Very caring. I am very satisfied with the care my partner has received. I am grateful for all Acorn House does for him. Staff are very patient and go out of their way to help look for mislaid objects.
Acorn House has exceeded my expectations in every area. The food, activities and care are fantastic and all the residents seem very well cared for and happy every time I visit. I couldn't wish for a better home for my sister.
Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and helpful at Acorn House. From the initial enquiry, we felt comfortable and welcomed. It's a pleasure seeing my brother make new friends and be well cared for. We certainly made the right choice for him.
We are delighted with the care given to our friend. It is so reassuring to know she is being looked after so well. The staff couldn't be more helpful. We would definitely recommend this care home to any of our friends or family.
I was impressed with the home, the staff were friendly and helpful. The residents we saw looked happy and well cared for. It gives me peace of mind on our friend's behalf and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to others.
My Uncle is in the best possible place for him. He is happy and comfortable in his new home, which he settled into really quickly. I can't thank the staff enough. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone.
Fantastic care at all times, so grateful to all of the staff. They are brilliant and go above and beyond for my Nan. I wouldn't want her to be in any other care home besides Acorn House. I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for their loved ones to stay. Thank you to the team.
My grandmother is a resident at Acorn House. I feel safe in the knowledge knowing she is well provided for and safe to live out her twilight years. The staff are lovely and very helpful. A wonderful home.
I have found that the residential care of my parents has been exceptional and the care by the staff and management has beaten my expectations.
After an accident at home and being hospitalised my brother was admitted to Acorn House where he has been for almost three years. He settled in well due to the staff being so caring and friendly. There are plenty of activities, days out, and entertainers in the home. The home is always spotlessly clean which makes it very welcoming for visitors. I would highly recommend this care home.
I always find all the staff pleasant, easy to get on with, ready to sort any problems out. Always clean and tidy. My mum is very happy here.
Mum is happy at Acorn House. She says the staff are very kind and friendly. She looks so much better and relaxed since she arrived 3 months ago. I wish they had more outings arranged for residents though.
Overall we are pleased with the care. The staff seem caring and know and understand residents. I notice that the home is very busy and sometimes I wonder if this means details may be missed, such as the cleaning of dentures. The activities provided are excellent and a good way to keep people engaged, it would be good if there was more conversation throughout the day, but I appreciate this is difficult when staff are so busy.
Acorn House Care Home is a well-run care home with many good aspects to recommend it. The staff are caring and considerate towards the residents who benefit from a varied menu and entertaining activities as appropriate. However, the needs of residents with dementia and multiple complex needs would be better met by improved/higher staffing levels (i.e. at least one above the legal minimum at all times).
Amazing place, recommended my other family member, my mum and my auntie are both here. Excellent staff, good variety of activities and good food.
My mom has been at Acorn House for a few years now. She loves this place so much. My dad was here too when Acorn House first opened and was one of the first residents. Acorn House has been a great place to be for the care the support value for money and always kept clean and tidy. Mom never complains about the assortment of food given at all meal times. The management and staff are first class.
