View Full Details of Gwen Walford House Nursing HomeMy gran has been in multiple care homes and Gwen Walford has been outstanding in every way. From each member of staff to how beautiful and comfortable the home is. The level of care they have all shown my gran has been absolutely wonderful. We could not have wished for a better place for my gran's end of life care. Thank you for everything.
All care staff and nurses have been wonderful to Mum. Garden views and wildlife from her bedroom are amazing. Mum and myself have been made to feel so welcome by all. It really is just like home, being able to bring dogs in as well is just great. It's so family-orientated.
Big thank you to all the staff in Gwen Walford House Nursing Home for looking after my gran so well. She is really happy with you all. As a family, that is all we can wish for. You have all been so kind and supportive with great attention to detail. The room is beautiful. Garden views, amazing wildlife, squirrels and robins visit her window daily where she likes to feed them. She really does feel like she's home.
Warm, friendly and caring welcome from all staff. They bent over backwards to sort out any issues and make Mum settle in as smoothly as possible, they were so patient with my sister and me with all our anxieties about Mum and the home and always had time and a cheery word for us.
The staff are always helpful and friendly, especially the carers. His needs are being catered for well.
First and foremost the structure of management and supervisors are of excellence, their attention to detail is second to none. Outstanding transparency. The hands-on staff and physical professionalism of carers are a credit to the residence, the families visiting and above all an asset to the management and Gwen Walford House Nursing Home. As I see it a pleasure visiting and leaving daily.
Cannot fault the care that my father has received since coming into Gwen Walford last year in July 2023. All the staff have been exceptional in caring for all of my father's daily needs. Would recommend Gwen Walford as the perfect care home for anyone's relatives. Thank you so much for giving me that peace of mind.
My wife has now been here 2 weeks and is very happy. The room is very comfortable and the staff are excellent.
I have been a resident for respite care and have been very satisfied with the level of care. My room was very nice with a lovely view of the garden area.
Having come to the difficult decision to place my husband in care - the transition to Gwen Walford was made all the more easier by the staff and high standards with this home. The management and staff are excellent. nothing is too much trouble! It is such a warm, family atmosphere - every part of my husband's care and medical care is taken care of. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone, including the gardener and maintenance man! The food is like a top-class restaurant in a five-star hotel. Thank you to everyone for all that you do.
Lovely facilities for the residents. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Looking after Mum's needs well. Encouragement to get involved with activities and overall a very good experience.
My mother-in-law has been here for two or three months, and really enjoys the TV room and looking at the wildlife. Very friendly staff.
My elderly Aunt (92) was a resident of Gwen Walford for a number of months over the summer of 2023. Initial impressions were good but sadly we ended up forfeiting a number of weeks paid occupancy, so as not to lose the chance of a room available at another Nursing Home nearby. We became quite desperate for her to leave. Her experience and increasingly ours of GW was not good. I want to highlight that I think most care and nursing staff at GW are kind and caring. However, they are understaffed and definitely over worked. Standards as a result inevitably slipped below care expected for our loved one. 1) Rooms often dirty and used as storage 2) Clothes lost 3) Residents assistance request buzzers constantly sound and slow response 4) Personal private documents left lying around for anyone to read (my Aunt registered blind) and not stored securely 5) Food really poor quality, often would arrive cold. All the above concerns were discussed with management.
My mum very recently passed away at Gwen Walford, the care she had I could never fault. Even in her last days, they ensured she was not in pain and comfortable. Just want to thank all the staff, you all do a fantastic job and thank you for taking care of my mum. Highly recommend.
I have been here four years and am satisfied with the care I am getting. This home is now my home. The staff treat me with respect and they work very hard.
Mum came for Christmas respite, she has had a wonderful stay. The home is lovely, warm and very homely. We have been satisfied with all aspects of Mum's care. The staff are wonderful, taking time to get to know Mum. We are now considering Mum returning full-time.
My 87 year old mother stayed in this place for a week’s respite following discharge from hospital. On arrival the room was dusty, there was loose plaster on the carpet around the skirting board and pictures left on the bathroom floor (not great for an infirm 87-year-old who has just fractured her pelvis). To add to this, she could not watch TV as there was no TV aerial and was unable to access the patio area as there was no patio door key. Based on my experience with two other homes in Herefordshire when my father needed care this place did not get anywhere near my expectations and was not good value for money. I did get an apology from the Manager following my complaint but that doesn’t change my opinion.
Mum is very happy at Gwen Walford. She is looked after very well. She has a lovely room overlooking the woods and the river and is very happy with the food and the pudding!
The care my nan received was entirely amazing. Couldn't ask for a better place for her to have gone to. The management and staff are amazing and I would recommend this place to anyone who would love for their family member to be well looked after and treated with respect.
Dad's very happy and content.
