View Full Details of Ashwood Care CentreAshwood Care Centre is a very friendly and well-run home. The grounds are beautiful and the home is very well maintained. The staff are very approachable and always address Mum by name. There is an excellent range of activities provided for residents throughout the year. The staff and management are very responsive to us as a family and do all they can to support Mum's care needs. The home has a family feel to it, led from the top. All staff are kind and caring.
My mother became a resident in April 2024 and we have found the care very good. The staff are friendly and understanding. She enjoys her meals with other residents. There are lots of activities to join in if she wishes. I visit 3 or 4 times a week and am made to feel very welcome. I feel much happier that she is safe and being looked after.
Such wonderful care for my dad who was in the Dementia Unit. They were very efficient, so kind and caring looking after his every need and providing a safe place for him. The care home manager was above and beyond. We can never thank them enough for how they cared for Dad.
This was the only care centre I viewed for my father. I instantly felt at home and knew it was the right place for my father's needs. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. I have attended activities for the residents, they are well-organised and give the residents lots of fun. The residents are always well-presented and clean. The home is always very clean, to a high standard.
Mum's care was excellent during the two weeks of respite she spent at Ashwood. She became calmer, happier and her smiling face returned which played a huge part in my brother and myself making the decision that mum would have a better quality of life residing at Ashwood permanently.
My parents spent almost 3 years at Ashwood. In all this time they were treated with respect, dignity & love, & we cannot thank the wonderful staff enough for their devotion. A truly homely atmosphere. Thank you, Ashwood. You are all worth your weight in gold.
I enjoyed my visit to Ashwood today not least because my cousin seemed much more relaxed than on my last visit. I was greeted with tea and biscuits which we had in her room and then went for a walk round the garden (we both like the fresh air!) after stopping for a coffee in the little cafe area - one of many places to sit which can make Ashwood feel like a home from home. I can't comment on the value for money at Ashwood as I have no involvement with he finance involved but it seems to be a very friendly place to live where the staff are obviously dedicated to careful treatment of the residents.
The care my husband received in Cherry Wing, Ashwood Care Centre was with compassion and affection. He was always content.
I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother has received since entering Ashwood Care Centre. The staff are excellent. My mother has nothing but praise for the way they look after her. Nothing is too much trouble. Being 93 she is treated with respect by everyone. Living out the area I feel confident she is safe, warm, clean and well fed. Thank you so much.
My aunt went into Ashwood a year ago and the family have been impressed. The carers are kind and attentive to patients and they have time to talk over any concerns. We have found Ashwood all around excellent.
Excellent care home. Our father is really well looked after by dedicated and kind staff. The carers are understanding, bring in a sense of fun and joy and at the same time, real compassion. We don’t live close by but they also always take the time to chat with us by phone if we aren’t able to visit. Makes a huge difference. As a care home set-up, it’s also spacious indoors and out with some great areas to sit down on visits or walk around and a sense of community for all the residents. Thank you all.
When you trust a care centre to look after your loved one, you want the staff to care for them but also to go that extra mile to make life feel secure and homely. The staff at Ashwood Care Centre go even more than that mile. Nothing is too much trouble. They work as a true team to make every resident feel loved.
I observed excellent, compassionate care for our friend's parents. The team was so helpful, kind and caring. They really exhibited genuine concern and love for the residents.
The standard of care and compassion is incredible. My family has been going through a very hard time with the loss of a family member. OSJCT Ashwood could not do enough to assist our family. Everything we needed they were thinking about before us. They are happy, kind, caring and loving to residents and their families. Thank you to the manager and her team.
My family and I are so grateful that when I could no longer care properly for my husband, Ashwood accepted him (believing at the time that he was in a more challenging state than he turned out to be). We are so very grateful for the respectful and loving care that he gets. Our minds are easy that he is safe and really cared for in a cheerful atmosphere.
My mother is terminally ill and lived independently until she had a crisis with anxiety. Ashwood staff were very prompt with their response to my request for assistance. Within 20 minutes the administrator was with us taking details and starting the necessary paperwork. When my mother was admitted two days later, everyone was so welcoming and reassuring, putting her at ease so she could relax and feel safe. In the past two weeks, they have made her feel so at home that she doesn't want to leave.
My 89-year-old mother, who is living with the latter stages of Alzheimer's, stayed for sixteen days. I am not at all happy with our experience. Mistakes were made in the initial and replacement contracts. Each time we phoned the home to enquire of my mother, the staff replies were always so vague and sometimes worrying. On mum’s return home, she was short of some clothing and had another resident’s clothing. She was also missing her ‘end-of-life’ medication. It is stated in a written report that she “…often had days when she remained in bed.”, yet in a following paragraph “She had two days in bed.” and that “Personal care was given on getting up and retiring to bed.” mum is double incontinent. Following her respite, my wife and I each made the mistake of paying the cost of mum’s stay (double payment), but the OSJCT made no attempt to refund the over-payment until I brought it to their attention some months later. It has been an unpleasant experience, and one we will not repeat.
My mum seems very happy with the care she receives. She actually now calls it home. I always receive a phone call if I need to be asked or informed of anything to do with mum.
Reception chaotic at times with long waits on phone calls. Entrance not always manned, plus staff (not all) seeming stressed and unable to cope at times.
Ashwood has excellent staff - reception, housekeepers, activity coordinators, and carers. The kitchen staff are exceptional. Everybody is caring and thoughtful. Everybody treats the residents with respect and kindness. They have kept everybody safe during covid and always keep me informed. The Orders of St John Care Trust should be proud of them all. Thank you all.
