View Full Details of Asterbury PlaceI have been very impressed with the care and dedication given to residents, always with a smile and a cheery word. I visit at least once a week and there is always some form of entertainment especially music related which is well attended and enjoyed by all and mini bus trips out are very much appreciated sometimes to a pub or to the seaside.
I'm absolutely blown away by the care my husband has had since he became a resident, not only for him but for how I'm thought of too with everything. This was one of the hardest decisions to make and the most emotional time to face. The support and guidance has been outstanding by everyone, from the care my husband is given, to the daily food choices available including their wonderful little cafe, which even family and friends can use when visiting too. There is always a great choice of daily activities to take part in as well. One of the most impressive things alongside the outstanding care, is the cleanliness throughout the whole place, I honestly can't fault a thing. The staff have done wonders to help build my husband's confidence again at what has been one of the hardest and most anxious times. I really can't thank them enough and feel so blessed to have found Asterbury Place.
My Father is a resident at Asterbury Place, myself and his family are very happy with the care and attention he is given, all the staff are very friendly and professional, and it is a pleasure to visit him and interact with all the staff and other residents, couldn't possibly ask for anything more. Excellent.
My nan was 1st moved here in May 2023, and always said "Don't ever put me in a home". She spent 18 months on the Rose Unit specialising in dementia where she thrived, started eating again, laughing, and being her normal sometimes rude nan. All the staff treat her and all the residents like family, my nan calls them her mates, she swapped over to nursing in November 24 and took a little while to adjust as much calmer on there but seems to enjoy it now. She has the benefit of being allowed to spend time on Rose but has the nursing available on Robin, the home is spotlessly clean, and the cleaners always chat and interact with the residents as well as the kitchen staff again they come out and chat with nan, it's like 1 big family.
My aunt is well cared for and her individual needs are understood and catered for by staff. There is always a welcoming atmosphere and the home is of a high standard with good quality interior and cheerful decorations. The management team are very approachable and deals with any queries in a timely and efficient manner.
You receive a warm welcome as soon as you set foot in Asterbury. The place has a very warm environment. It is kept to a very high standard and you can tell straight away how well the residents are cared for. I know this from visiting a frond over the last few months. I would highly recommend to anyone to check it out if they are seeking someone for their loved one.
My wife has settled in quickly, much to my surprise she is back to her happy self. It appears that everyone treats her and my family with the utmost compassion which is all I could wish for. Since being there she is clean! Her bed is always clean and the room is spotless! I have been there when staff have had to clean her up after an accident with her toilet and the empathy and efficiency shown was excellent! I have noticed everyone smiles and that makes a tremendous difference to everyone. Her clothes are well-kept and very clean. Moving my wife to Asterbury Place on January 2nd is the best thing I have done! The catering is good and the whole premises exude a feeling of well-being.
As well as taking really good care of my husband, I feel that the staff look after me as well. An example of this was when I was unwell recently and not able to visit my husband. The staff arranged to send me some flowers and I can't tell you how much this was appreciated. In what is a very difficult time for me to have to live separately from my husband, Asterbury Place has brought some light and it feels like my happy place with him. I know he is happy and well looked after. My husband has a very good relationship with the lifestyle manager who ensures he gets involved in activities and we get to spend precious time together off-site once a week too. The staff on the unit my husband lives in, know him really well and have a good rapport with him. Special thanks to the manager and deputy manager who go out of their way to look after us both. We really appreciate it.
My mum had been a resident of Asterbury Place for the last 2.5 years. My mum's words why didn't I do this before? Mum was a person who kept herself to herself, but with staff encouraging Mum to come and join in activities, my mum changed for the better. She went 10-pin bowling and loved quizzes and bingo. Also her daily jaunt to the coffee shop for cappuccino. Mum's sight started to fail, but she carried on with activities and even went out for fish & chips on the minibus, loved singing groups and I used to try and join in when visiting, Mum would say you go I'm having fun. We can catch another day. Sadly Mum passed away, the staff when this happened at her home, as Mum called it were like family. Nothing too much trouble. Even now I drop in for coffee and catch up. Thank you all for making my mum so welcome and us too, making her days happy, right up until the end. Our family thank you from our hearts. You're all amazing.
Our relative has been a resident at Asterbury Place Care Home since April 2024. It was such a difficult decision for his family to make but as soon as we saw how well he had settled in and how much every member of staff genuinely cared about each of the residents, we knew it was the right choice to enable him to have the best quality of care. From the moment we first walked in the doors, it felt homely. The staff, residents and other relatives have all been so welcoming and helpful. Nothing has been too much trouble. The colourful decor and creative use of all the space available to create a cafe hub at the heart of the building, cinema room, beautiful gardens and so much more, make the building itself feel inviting. Our relative's room is very suitable for his needs and far exceeds what we experienced elsewhere. The menu choices and wide range of activities both on and off-site have been very impressive and enjoyable both for residents and family members. We can't praise the staff enough!
My aunt has now been here for several months. I have always found the staff to be very kind. The home is very clean. The staff always willing to resolve issues and provide help and advice. Can't fault it.
My dear mum has been a full-time resident in the dementia unit since January 2023. All of the staff showed genuine caring and recognition of this incredibly hard day for us as a family. The care staff go above and beyond to ensure that our mum is cared for. For example, they are always mindful of her dietary likes and dislikes and make sure that if the menu choice is not to her liking then something else is prepared for her. They are always willing to offer our mum a bath which they know she enjoys. The home is very well cared for by the maintenance and particularly the housekeepers, who keep it very clean. There are always varied activities for the residents of all physical and mental capacity to enjoy. All of the above have been enhanced since the change in the manager and deputy management team for the care home, with often a presence when they are on a non-working day. The genuine care our mum receives is very much appreciated and gives us some peace to know she is looked after.
Staff are all fantastic! It is so wonderful to see all the residents happy, smiling and joining in activities. Like one big happy family. The manager has got it 100% right. From the moment you step through the door, every experience at Asterbury Place is a joy. Well done!
We had heard how lovely this place was, so when my mother-in-law had the opportunity to go here, we jumped at it. She spent only a month here and sadly passed today. The reason for my prompt review is because every single person that worked here that we came across went above and beyond. I cannot thank everyone enough for their love and kindness. Especially when she passed, they truly showed absolute compassion. Thank you to everyone... you are simply the best.
My mother has lived at Asterbury Place, within the residential suite for over a year and we are very happy with how she has been looked after there. The home is always clean, welcoming and with a coffee shop stocked with goodies. Our visits often feel like a meeting of friends, as residents and families get together for a chat. There is entertainment for the residents sometimes twice a day and each area has its own dining room and lounge which feel very homely. Having stayed in other homes for respite we are well aware that not all homes are run this way. Keep up the good work.
We moved our 97-year-old aunt into Asterbury two years ago, after living alone in her home for 15 years after her husband passed. We live abroad and we needed a place where she was comfortable and happy, which she tells me she is very happy at Asterbury. The Asterbury staff are very good about communicating with us to update us on any changes/concerns, etc. She doesn’t hear very well and her eyesight is limited but we are able to video call visit with her on the computer, with the help of the staff. We are able to see her and she can see/hear us to visit. Being able to see her and see how she is doing is such a peace of mind for me. Each department from housekeeping to laundry to the food service to the administration staff are all great at answering our questions, getting back to us on any concerns we have, they go the extra mile to make sure our aunt has everything she needs.
Both my mother and father-in-law are residents at Asterbury Place. Since their admission we have been delighted with the care home, the facilities, staff, food, environment are excellent. They always go the extra mile with special occasions and make special efforts to ensure residents are supported.
My mum is very content and happy in the home. They always go above and beyond with the care they give. The activities they offer have been brilliant this month, we really enjoyed the Easter fete. All credit to the home and staff.
My father-in-law positively thrives in Asterbury Place, where the care and attention he receives is of the highest quality and delivered with compassion, attentiveness and patience. I am struck by the dedication, hard work, and professionalism of all the staff; their cheerfulness, kindness, and knowledge. The communication between family and Asterbury Place is first class and during my visits, I always find him happy, contented, scrupulously clean and engaged with his surroundings. Naturally, there is always anxiety when placing a loved one into care, however, I would like to reassure anyone who reads my words that Asterbury Place swiftly gains your trust and admiration through actions and deeds, which ultimately puts you, and your loved one at ease. I would never have envisaged him having to go into care; but now that he is, I am eternally grateful that he is cared for, loved, supported, encouraged, and recognised as an individual by everyone here. Thanks to you all at Care UK.
Mum is cared for with the utmost respect and dignity. She has settled very well, only being here for five months. She enjoys the food, and if she doesn't fancy anything on the menu, a substitute is always made for her. As her daughter, I can relax more knowing she is cared for so well. The staff always have time for me as well.
