View Full Details of Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care HomeMy cousin came here in August 2024. I am his next of kin and power of attorney. My cousin is well looked after and has made this his home. He is very happy and enjoys the activities. The staff are very friendly and caring. I am extremely pleased with Braeburn Lodge Care Home.
Generally good care home and overall I am satisfied with care provided. Staffing levels could possibly be higher and engagement with residents a little greater. Residents on dementia ward have high level of needs and difficult for staff to meet those needs and be around to engage with residents on more personal level, though many staff clearly try to do all they are able.
My brother was a resident at Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care Home for five and a half years. Throughout the entire time, he received exemplary care from the whole team. Everyone was caring and professional, they took time with him and became his second family. They also looked after Mum for some weeks and she spoke highly of the care too. My brother has passed away lately - he received tender and loving care right to the end. I cannot praise the team highly enough.
Both my dad and mum were residents at Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care Home until they both passed away. The staff are very friendly and the care and attention is wonderful. We have made friends with both staff and residents over time and we will definitely continue to visit them. Food was very good and varied. The chefs and domestic staff were also very friendly when delivering the food. Nursing staff were superb. They kept us informed regularly of Mum and Dad's condition during their final days and they were always available to talk to. I would certainly recommend this care home to anyone.
My great-grandma was at this beautiful home until she passed. She loved her time at Braeburn Lodge and would often tell all the family how caring and attentive the staff were. She quickly made friends with other residents and said everyone was so friendly. When she passed, the manager was very compassionate and really helped me and my family. Nothing was too much for them at the home, and I'm happy she was able to enjoy her final days there.
My gran was only there for six weeks before she passed, but the home was excellent. Great staff, clean environment, activities, and good food. Can only recommend 100% Good communications from my initial enquiry to the home manager doing a home visit.
Both parents were residents at Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care Home over a period of several years. When Dad moved into Memory Lane, the care given to him by the dementia care team was exceptional and he was very happy. Mum was able to visit him whenever she wanted to and also maintain an independent and busy life downstairs with fellow residents. The activities offered were plentiful and varied. Mum always said that Braeburn was her "other home" and the staff and residents were her "other family" and after Dad died, Braeburn became her world. As we all lived a distance away, it was comforting to know that she had 24-hour care and was protected and loved. Every time we visited, we were reassured that she was safe and happy. It was obvious that she was respected by a caring staff and we were happy that all her needs, medical, physical and emotional were covered. When Mum died recently, the comfort offered to us, as a family, from the staff made a sad time more bearable. We shall always be grateful to the Braeburn family.
My mother has been in Braeburn for ten months. Choosing the latest month is a strange question. I am happy that my mother is being taken care of. There have been issues, but these have been dealt with swiftly and efficiently. By the very nature of the job, no care home, be it private or otherwise, is ever going to achieve perfection. However, Braeburn was my first choice for my mother's care, and I would not want her to be anywhere else.
My parents moved to Braeburn in November 21; they had a very happy life together there and always respected as a couple. Sadly, my dad died in March, and my mum fell and broke her hip, so quite a lot of trauma, but with those wonderful Braeburn carers, my mum has come through it and lives a happy life feeling cared for and safe. As for me, I adore, respect and am in total awe of all the wonderful Braeburn staff.
My mum stayed for respite as an urgent admission. I cannot find any faults with the home staff are wonderful, so caring and kind and mum even put weight on during her stay. Highly recommended, more homes need to be like this one.
I visited my mother today. Despite her advanced Alzheimer's, she was in good spirits and kept saying how happy she was and that she was warm and well-fed. It was lovely to see her so alert, and I am sure that this is a consequence of the attention and care of all the staff. She was clean, smelt lovely, and her room was bright and fresh. The staff are so kind, friendly and caring and the standard of cleanliness is first class. It is also a joy to see the pictures of activities and excursions that are posted on the Braeburn Facebook pages. Thank you to the whole team.
Compassion and care from the start. The friendliness of staff is exceptional. We could not have asked for more.
Very good care and excellent food. The facilities are amazing and the carers are excellent. The activities are good, and very welcoming and good choice of food. Very efficient with communication with relatives residents and all staff involved. And I feel very welcome and looked after when I come in.
I visited an old friend whilst she was in the care home on a respite stay. It was clean, and the layout was very well thought out. On my visit, I saw a baking activity, which the residents were really enjoying. My friend is in the process of thinking about permanent care. I stayed and viewed my friend's lunchtime meal which was chicken casserole and profiteroles for pudding. It looked very nice, and I was offered the chance to have a meal but declined; however, it really did look nice. The home has lots planned over Christmas, which I intend on coming back for.
My mum has just had a week's respite. She lives with family at the moment, so we are looking to the future. When myself and my brother first visited, we both felt there was a lovely atmosphere, and the layout and rooms are all lovely. What speaks volumes is that the staff we met have been there a long time and really care and were so lovely to Mum. The activities are great, and with the right encouragement, Mum did join in and enjoyed what she did. The food is all home cooked and delicious. Nothing is too much trouble. I also met some lovely residents who were all happy, and many have been there a few years. I would thoroughly recommend the manager and her team, and we will definitely be looking to take Mum back for respite and maybe permanent in the future.
My experience of the care home is from visiting a resident who was there on a short term respite stay. They were very anxious about staying at the home, but the staff and management made them very comfortable and relaxed. All staff were very good with my friend, who lives with dementia and could be hard at times due to his illness. Nothing was too much problem, and even offered me drinks when I visited. The activities on the day I visited were trailered well for the dementia community, there was a Pat dog, which my friend was very happy to see as he used to look after dogs years ago. I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for care and support. The manager and nurse on the day even joined in with an activity that was being held in their courtyard. Great interaction with the residents and a pleasure to see. My friend has booked again in October, so I will try and pop in again then.
I was always hesitant about having to place my mother in a care home, but circumstances dictated that we had reached a point when it became necessary for her safety and well being. We have been delighted by the standard of service and facilities at Braeburn Lodge. The staff are very friendly/helpful and attentive, and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled in extremely well and has said that she doesn't want to move away from Braeburn as the staff are so kind to her. We would not hesitate to recommend this care home if you are thinking of placing a loved one into full-time care.
I was delighted to be able to finally visit my friend of many years recently, whom I had not been able to see in the Care Home for the past 18 months due to the Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions. The staff on duty, including the Acting Manager and Deputy Manager, were really helpful in facilitating the visit on the day, showing a genuine sensitivity and understanding of the importance of the visit to me and to my friend, and the need for some flexibility in the times of the visit to accommodate the distance I have to travel to the Care Home. I had initially encountered some difficulties with negotiating the current 'booking' system for arranging the visit, but was able to discuss these openly with the staff, and am absolutely confident that the issues raised will be/are being addressed.
All staff at Braeburn Lodge, Managers, Administration staff, nurses, carers, cleaners, chefs, laundry and maintenance extended the most wonderful care to our Mum. Their professionalism, their care and the dignity, friendship and love they showed to her were exceptional. Staff were very supportive to us as a family and their sensitivity and thoughtfulness was particularly valued by us in the last days of her life, which made a sad and difficult time both meaningful and a privilege to be part of. There is a resident-focused ethos at Braeburn Lodge and the team is led with great skill. It feels like a very happy place to work and this has a very positive impact on residents and their family and friends. We cannot thank them all enough for the kindness and care shown to our Mum.
Very high standards of hygiene throughout. Very well organised and seems to run seamlessly. Staff are always friendly, accommodating and helpful which gives the home a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
