View Full Details of Avalon Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareMy mother was welcomed with open arms by all the staff at Avalon Court Care Home. Each person, friend, member of staff, I say friend because that's how you are treated and become. My mom is encouraged at every opportunity to join in, has regular contact from staff to check all is well. If there is the slightest problem it is always acted upon promptly. Mom's only complaint is that very occasionally the food isn't up to standard, you can't please everybody all the time! However, apologies are always made and food is changed without a problem. My mother has thrived.
My mother-in-law has gone from being lonely in her own home to a home that has a great social life with brilliant care! And an entertainment crew that keep the residents at the heart of all planning! It's amazing to see my mother-in-law positively grow and make new friends and to see her embark on a new journey, rather than us thinking it was the end of something. Thank you Avalon.
When our mum was diagnosed with early stages of dementia we didn't imagine that we would find the best, caring, stimulating, fun, supportive future home! It's given our mum a new lease of life that she's really enjoying! All the opportunities for socialising and well-being have made her so happy, with a new sense of belonging and happiness!
Both reception and floor teams treat the residents with respect, care and love, making sure their every need is catered for.
I cannot find the words to express the kindness I have experienced at Avalon Court Care Home. I would recommend it. It is clean, caring, patient but most of all, a happy place. The entertainment every afternoon was a pleasant surprise. I came here on my own but I left with lots of friends who I have promised to revisit. It has been an eye-opener for me and I have been made to feel very humble. A big thank you to everyone.
My sister has been on trips out, she has been to the school. She has a great life doing lots of social activities. The food is always good, she has the same care worker who knows her very well.
My sister is a resident in Avalon Court Care Home. I have visited her periodically from my home in the USA. I am saddened she has to be here permanently but commend you for the wonderful care she receives. On the front desk, we were always greeted very warmly, as were all the rest of the staff. God bless you all.
My mum was at Avalon Court from August 2023 until April 2024 and during her time she received excellent care by all staff. Nothing was too much trouble. She had a lovely spacious room, restaurant for meals and excellent carers including all the entertainment staff. Mum looked forward to so many activities during her time especially the choir and plays. Unfortunately after a short time in hospital it was agreed that the home could no longer meet her care needs and she had to move into nursing care. This was a sad day for my mum and the whole family. The only negative point I would make is concerning care cost credits. Unfortunately due to the timing of mum having to move to a nursing home and the monthly fee being taken from her account, we are still waiting for a credit to be repaid, despite having made number of enquires over the last 6 months. This negative point is not a reflection on the care received overall.
My dad was very well looked after during his time at Avalon. The staff were all very caring, friendly and helpful. The food looked delicious and requests were catered to as far as possible. Thank you for all that you have done and are doing.
I feel the care home is very well suited for residents with physical disabilities. My husband has dementia. I did hope more could have been carried out to stimulate him. Not a great amount of staff on his floor. Meetings and training courses left a very thin covering of staff at times. I do feel the staff did their best for the residents in their care though.
My husband was in the home for 3 months and the care he received was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the carers. He enjoyed the activities which were very varied. We as a family were sad when he had to leave to go to a nursing home. We had considered Avalon to be our second home.
The entertainment team need to be congratulated for the range and depth of activities. For instance this week we had a bake off and a very personable singer who reaches out to all. (The bake off was well organised and hilarious. There was also a St George's Day party and National Earth celebration to name a few more this week.) The entertainment team ensure they make the most of each day to include staff as well as residents. This is such a boost to all concerned including family. Thank you so much to one member of staff in particular and your team. Just one ask on the entertainment side - please could there be more at weekends as it is sadly running behind. The visiting families enjoy the entertainment as much as the residents.
We want to say thank you to the team at Avalon - the carers, the entertainers, the chefs and the team which makes it all happen including the reception team, who have taken care of our father since he moved there 18 months ago. Both he and our family have been looked after, made to feel welcome and also involved in his care. The team has taken the time to get to know our father, to understand what he likes and doesn't like and consequently tailor his well-being to who he is. On two occasions when he has had to go to hospital, the carers’ reactions have been exactly that – the reaction of people who care. Our father has said to us on several occasions, 'This is a very nice place to live, the people here are very kind'. And on one occasion when we said how bright he was looking, his reply was lovely: “Why wouldn’t I be, with all the good things that happen here?!” We are very pleased that we chose Avalon.
Without hesitation I would recommend Avalon Court as a 1st class care home - absolutely. On entering you could be forgiven in thinking this was a 1st class hotel! Spacious, airy, with a totally friendly feeling. At reception you are greeted by the management team, courteous, obliging. Nothing is too much trouble. Accommodation within the rooms is superb. Staff are at all times willing to assist. A wide range of activities abounds, led by an excellent entertainment team, with something for everyone. On the "flip" side... although the car parking is generous, I feel there should be more disabled bays - rather than just two! Given the nature of the residents and visitors. To sum up, my wife receives the best possible care and attention in a difficult period.
Not sure where to begin or who to thank first, so this is for all members of staff, including managers, very caring carers, entertainment staff, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, and maintenance staff. A huge big thank you for looking after my sister; she wasn’t with you for very long, but in her time with you, she was looked after so well, even whilst in bed with chest infections, the carers were so good, especially one, whom we know my sister loved and looked forward to the time she spent with her. It was fitting to be with you at Avalon for family and friends to have a bite to eat and drink to celebrate her life, so thank you to the catering staff. The presentation for her was so much appreciated by us all, so huge thank you all.
We had Christmas Day lunch with my mum and the food was very enjoyable. It was an unexpected bonus to be offered the cheese board after the Christmas pudding. We also enjoyed an alcoholic beverage. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff, It was a lovely atmosphere.
Everyone worked hard to give me (including my daughter) a wonderful day. The meal was very good, super atmosphere in a beautifully laid out dining room. Santa delivered a present to us all. It felt like a really special day. Thank you to all staff from all areas and my daughter kept it a secret. I met my first great-grandson for the first time. The best day ever! Thank you all again. What a fantastic team at Avalon Court.
As a visitor I enjoyed a Christmas lunch here with the resident I come to see. I have to say that I cannot think of anything extra. The staff could not have done more to make the occasion more enjoyable. A truly excellent effort by all concerned.
Great Christmas. The staff worked very hard and the food was lovely.
Avalon Court Care Home is amazing, very friendly and run amazingly by everyone.
