View Full Details of Barchester Tennyson Wharf Care HomeThe standards at Tennyson Wharf are exceptional. All of the team looking after the residents are amazing, kind, caring, considerate and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent range of activities on everyday to keep residents engaged should they wish to join in. Mum is extremely happy there and settled in very quickly. I have complete confidence in how well my mum is being looked after.
Mum has been made to feel welcome right from the start. The staff are lovely, very caring and adaptable. Nothing seems too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and there is plenty for her to do without feeling any pressure to participate. Mum has made friends already and is thoroughly enjoying her new life. The improvement in her walking and general demeanour is remarkable.
Mum had to go into care quickly and Barchester Tennyson Wharf Care Home was able to accommodate this. The care given to Mum was excellent. All staff were cheerful and kept us informed of any changes with her. Thank you for the care given to Mum. She was very happy with you.
A superb facility that is clean, spacious and well-equipped. The staff have provided faultless respite care for my dad.
I am the resident representative at Tennyson Wharf and like to feel that can represent the carers as well knowing how difficult the work can be. Small acts of kindness mean so much to residents. I have been able to put names for care home awards. But understand that there are so many homes and not everyone can be recognised for their work. The overall standard is excellent and always kind and considerate. Cleanliness is something that impresses visitors and housekeeping keeps a very high standard. The gardens are very impressive. Activities reach very high standards. Every month I meet the manager to discuss how things are going, I do hope that everything is relayed to head office.
I have left the value for money rating because I am no judge of such matters, I am poorer than I was last year! I thank God that I can (just) afford it. Thank you for everything, your kindness and friendliness and patience.
Two weeks respite stay and I would very much like to return at a later date.
Having spent a lot of time researching to find a suitable respite placement for my father, I finally came upon this absolutely brilliant home which looked nothing like standard care homes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Dad said this was his favourite place, topping pub breakfasts! Most importantly, he's really happy to return for more respite shortly and if permanent care was required, he'd be more than happy to return. He really loved it there and loved all the attention.
My son arranged for me to have a week's respite holiday so I could visit relatives who lived in the area. It was arranged efficiently but feel because of the circumstances I cannot comment fairly on the facilities and activities. I found the whole experience enjoyable and energising after a difficult few weeks at home where I live alone. On arrival I received a warm welcome and was impressed by the high standard and freshness of the decor - which I noticed continued throughout. I found all the caring staff always friendly and extremely helpful. The food good with nice-sized portions but unfortunately I found the residents antisocial - the few I met in the dining room and others stayed in their rooms.
I found the facilities first-rate. The staff, without exception, cheerful, caring and attentive. The food selection and quality very good. I could fault nothing.
The staff are very good, they can't do too much for you. The food is second to none. It's a pleasure to be here.
We thought that Tennyson Wharf facilities and rooms were excellent. The activities staff made sure my mum was included at all times. Our only concern was the doctor who visited the home requested blood pressure and blood glucose tests three times a day and this was never carried out without my mum buzzing and reminding them.
The care home does an excellent job looking after people. Comfortable sitting area on second floor. Good job.
After a nightmare week in hospital I needed to gain confidence before returning to live alone. Barchester Tennyson Wharf Care Home had a good reputation so I booked myself in for a week then a second. I have gained confidence, benefited from the good food and kindness and expert care. The home's biggest asset is its staff team who are splendid people, with nothing too much trouble unimportant need to me no patronising. I retired 29 years ago from residential care management, CQC lay inspector and other experience in care for older people. Here is a new concept of care to what I've experienced and I like it. Barchester Tennyson Wharf Care Home is an exceptional place with exceptional staff dealing with a variety of needs for vulnerable people. A good place, thank you.
As this is my fourth stay at Burton Waters residential home, I think that must speak for itself regarding satisfaction. The staff are always polite and helpful and will go the extra mile to sort out any problems a resident may have. If in the future I should need some temporary assistance of a personal nature away from home, Burton Waters would be my first port of call.
My children and I have all been very comforted and consoled by the kindness and concern of all of the staff and are super impressed by the treatment that my husband is receiving. We were initially very concerned that my husband was having difficulty settling, but the staff reacted promptly and with great care to our worries to ensure that he receives reassurance and attention which proved invaluable and effective. We are all most grateful.
My 95-year-old father-in-law was a resident for two weeks of respite care, following a fall and Covid isolation in the hospital, and quickly settled in extremely well. In his first experience of a modern care home, he was very impressed with the care and support he received. Visiting him, the family were warmly welcomed by staff and the management was outstanding in helping and guiding us through a potentially complicated and emotionally charged process. My 90-year-old mother-in-law, who suffers from dementia and Alzheimer's, had also been hospitalised due to Covid and the knock-on effects to her medication, but on release from hospital Barchester Tennyson Wharf were wonderful in organising the transfer, initially to a room on the same floor as her husband, but then a further move to Memory Lane when a room became available. The care, compassion and attention to the details of looking after these family members have been truly exceptional. At every stage, we felt supported by professional and knowledgeable people, for whom nothing seemed too much trouble and who really understood what we were trying to achieve. We are tremendously grateful and can wholeheartedly recommend Barchester Tennyson Wharf Care Home.
Two weeks respite booked due to mother's shoulder injury, requiring care with most things. Nobody welcomed her on arrival or explained facilities etc. An information book in her room gave the only clues. District nurses, physiotherapy, and assessments booked by the home did not materialise. Resulting in her ulcerated legs worsening (one district nurse visit when four were booked). Despite several requests, she was showered only once. The home is attractive and staff friendly and pleasant. However, the right-hand knows not what the left is doing and the home is not adequately managed. Phone calls, emails, and a handwritten note at reception expressing our concerns were met with excuses. On departing nobody bothered to say goodbye.
Given the level of care as listed in the ratings, we hope that the staff are awarded at least a 10% pay rise.
My husband has dementia and other issues. He has been in Tennyson Wharf for six months. I am extremely happy with the care and attention he receives. All the staff are attentive and professional. The activities are varied and inclusive. The home is light and airy and feels like a hotel. The food is varied and nutritious and delicious. The garden is beautiful. He receives excellent care.
