Very pleased with the home.
My wife was at The Ashton for four weeks for care to build her up. She felt very safe and happy with her treatment, she put on weight and is stronger now.
As a resident here, I have completed several reviews for The Ashton. One thing I heard was that the carers, the younger ones especially, regard us residents as an extended family and as such work every bank holiday without any form of a grudge. This attitude makes for a wonderful atmosphere. We get superb meals which are to restaurant standard and together make this home a superb place to live. Well done to all staff.
My brother is not the easiest person but staff have involved him in activities that others have never been able to do. He goes to coffee mornings and staff have even got him out of the building not just his room - this is massive thank you.
My husband and I, plus 10-year-old grandson, attended the Christmas concert last December. We all enjoyed the experience and would like to congratulate the staff on the inclusive nature of the entertainment. Well done!
My long-term partner came to the home approximately 2 months ago. She has had excellent care since arriving as she has an extremely rare illness called Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). They know how to cope with her needs. Overall to date, all has gone well.
Every time I visited my dad always seemed as comfortable and content as was possible in his situation. I was always greeted by friendly and attentive staff who were doing a difficult job very efficiently.
My mother moved in about six months ago. My wife and I are always impressed by the caring way not just my mother but other residents are treated. We are very impressed by the amount of activities, shows and trips out that are organised. The staff always contact me if they have any concerns, be it health or behaviour.
Could not have been more pleased with the staff that looked after Mom. In her few days, they could not do enough for Mom and our family. Thank you so much to you all.
My father, who suffers from Alzheimer's/Dementia, arrived at Ashton Court, having spent over 3 months in hospital in Cornwall. During the out-of-region hospital discharge and transfer process we had excellent support from the Ashton Court Deputy Manager whose help is very much appreciated. Since arriving at Ashton Court, Dad has settled in wonderfully and is very much being treated as the individual he is. The team looking after Dad are great and many family members have been able to visit him since his arrival. Dad's room has very good facilities and is spotlessly clean. As others have said, when we visited Ashton Court for a tour we were very impressed by the evident care shown by the carers and management. After many stressful days with Dad being in hospital, so far away, we can finally relax in the knowledge that he is in a quality care home, nearby and in safe hands.
My dad moved into The Ashton Care Home in March 2023 following several falls and hospital stays, and we all knew that the time had come for him to have 24-hour care and that it was too dangerous for him to live alone at home anymore, despite daily visits from us and district nurses. We were getting increasingly worried about him being alone at night and in the early mornings, as this was when he inevitably had his falls. He has been given the most marvellous care since he moved in, with a beautiful room looking out onto a little garden view, fabulous food and kindness in every aspect from the wonderful staff and management. There is a wonderful opportunity to join in with all sorts of events and trips at The Ashton, should he wish. When asked recently at his sixth monthly care review if there were any ways they could improve his care, he replied, "It isn't possible! You are all wonderful!" I think that speaks for itself!
I pass by and have seen the residents and carers together and heard their chats. Things like 'Did you see such and such on tv?' and 'You're still smoking then?' Just normal chat and not talking down to the residents. On my tour, the manager impressed me by knowing every residents' name and had a chat with them. This spoke volumes about the way this home is run. My dad moved in, every carer knew him and spoke to him about his likes and dislikes. He is so happy and settled. In my dad's words "It's like living in a Warner Hotel but better because they help me to get showered and dressed. They take away my washing and when they return it they hang it up in the wardrobe." He loves that everyone knows his name and is extremely kind to him. We love it because we are greeted by smiling, friendly staff who seem to really like our dad. Always ready to chat to him. The atmosphere is warm, caring and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Ashton.
When I just came here, I did not know what to expect. The warm welcome I got was so lovely. Same when I get to my room. It was so lovely here, if I need support, the staff use them to help me. I will give this home 100% brilliant. I cannot fault anything in The Ashton Care Home. Thank you.
Since coming to The Ashton my husband has done so well, with the good help of everyone he has come into contact with. I have respect for the manager, who is very approachable and a caring person, the nurses and carers who take care of him, and all staff. Since being there he has been encouraged to get out of bed, take part in the activities and has sat in the garden. He is very settled and I would recommend this care home to anyone.
We contacted The Ashton Care Home in desperation as we were at a critical point with my step mother's declining health. My husband and my father visited the home at 10 am on Wednesday 29th March and were greeted with total empathy and care. Having explained the current situation at my parent's residence, the manager quickly made the decision to get a room ready as soon as possible and was at the house by 11 am to assess my stepmother's needs, advising my husband that he will gain more information from her Doctors and he will be in contact as soon as possible. He contacted us within one hour to let us know we can take her in when she is ready, we were already very impressed. Ashton Care Home sent two ladies to the home to help with the distressing aspect of my stepmother going into their care home and I cannot speak highly enough of them and the manager, we are totally wowed and blown away by their professionalism, empathy, kindness and the natural care they have shown. Thank you.
I like the staff, very happy with the home. They are all caring and look after me well.
Mum left The Ashton when it was in special measures and was in some chaos, she has now returned and the home is very different. The staff are excellent and very clean and she is back with her friends. I would definitely recommend it.
My mother moved to The Ashton Care Home the first week in January. The staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has a beautiful room with access to a patio area and the food is excellent and after many years she is finally putting on weight. I was really impressed with the facilities and staff when I visited and Mum seems so much happier being in The Ashton. I would highly recommend.
The respect, care and compassion shown by all staff to my mum in her final days could not have been better. Her sudden physical deterioration took us all by surprise, but the staff could not have been any more attentive to her needs and she was treated with dignity throughout. Additionally, myself and other family members stayed 24/7 by Mum's bedside for six nights and seven days, we too were supported at all times. As a family, we would recommend The Ashton Care Home without any reservation. It truly is a special place, a home from home. Thank you.
