View Full Details of Holyrood HouseVisited my uncle on Tues 25th February He had been in Holyrood for 3 years He is settled happy and well looked after The staff are amazing brilliant at their job look after all the residents with so much care Admin staff friendly and so helpful the manager is helpful friendly to all residents and staff always happy to help with any thing you need to discuss with het she is a brilliant manager Thank you all so much for keeping my uncle so settled and happy
The staff have been amazing, from the management team to the care team, and have made what has been a very difficult decision for our family, to have my grandma move into a permanent residency here at Holyrood as easily and as smoothly as possible. At every stage, they have met our concerns with an understanding and empathy and especially towards my grandma who is the most important person to us. I would like to recognise 2 individuals on my grans level, they have been wonderful and have helped settle my grandma in so well, they are an asset to your team. The management and admin team have also been great towards us helping manage our feelings and worries whilst my grandma has been settling in, especially the assistant manager, by reassuring me and always there to help with this difficult transition.
I find the home satisfactory, but cleanliness could be improved, especially in residents rooms, stained sink and toilet. Also in need of decoration and curtains washing. Food is up and down, sometimes really good and then can be very poor. I presume this is due to staffing. Portion size is small, more fresh vegetables is needed, most of it is tinned. Entertainment is good, but same people go, they don't try to get others to go and when they do, it's last minute. I think staff should try to encourage residents to participate.
I feel my mums needs are met here. Thank you Holyrood House for looking after her. Staff are very caring, although she doesn't participate due to her Parkinson's there are plenty of activity's for clients.
The residence appeared a happy place for its residents, all staff attentive, very helpful and willing to assist. In being present on average for over a hour, my friend was much on her own, happy to be so but on occasions sat in the communal area that allowed her to be in company and have a friendly talk. Cleanliness was of an acceptable nature, at times some dust/debris was noticed under/near the bed and on the floor. I cannot specifically comment on food other to to say I witnessed a small choice being offered which was satisfactory to my friend. Office staff were always helpful but unavailable to talk to at weekends which was a little inconvenient. On an alarm call (e.g. pressure mat activated) staff did respond quickly. The rooms were appointed of a basic nature that was fit for purpose. It is regrettable that some clothing was lost. Overall, a pleasant place to be that catered for my friend's needs, having now left has stated she would be happy to return.
All staff seem to be very caring, especially maintenance men and cleaners. All rooms are spacious and clean. If my mum is not well she mentions it to a carer and is then seen by the nurse from the nearby doctors who calls regularly and any prescription is got quickly. They seem to have a good system for giving out medication at the correct time and dose. Activities are well thought out and are suited to most needs. There is always a good choice of food at meal times and the kitchen will try their best to sort something out if there is a problem.
Even at 85 years old and raised in a family of 3 daughters, I recognise I am not easy to help. Having been like all, independent for those years. However, the young lady assistor who brightens my life with her bright smile and willingness to assist immediately there is a call (from either resident or colleague) and often without provocation, I have recently learned her name. She is crammed with good intentions, in what could become a difficult situation in the hands of others, less observant. Where she gets the all power wish to jump to it, wherever she is stationed brings awe to the beholder.
I have had an amazing experience during the care of my grandad, during his time at Holyrood. Thank you so much for everything. Admin team was amazing and really helpful, always greeted with a smile.
My husband has been a resident at Holyrood House for a short period, since November 2024. I was impressed from the word go, When I was given a tour of Holyrood House by a very professional and friendly staff member, prior to my husband becoming a resident. Immediately I felt comfortable and impressed with the spacious rooms and facilities. Staff are friendly, pleasant and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Residents are treated with dignity and respect, all look presentable and cared for. The meals are varied and of a high standard. Drinks and snacks are offered in between meals.
As a family we are very pleased with the care that mum receives. Mum settled in very quickly and regards Holyrood House at her home. She is always full of praise for the staff, and us as a family always find they are only too happy to help with any issues we have. We feel we all work together to provide mum with the best care possible. We would have no hesitation in recommending Holyrood House to other families who are looking for care.
I am so happy with the way my mam's moods have changed since coming into Holyrood House, the staff are very caring and their patience is second to none. My mam has started to eat and enjoy food again.
From what I have seen, staff are caring, food is up to standard but sometimes will have to wait too long to be taken to the toilet. The home is clean and tidy, staff and management are very helpful when asked any questions. Food is good and tasty but can change depending on which cook is on duty, so I am told.
The home had plenty of Christmas activities over the festive period, and had lovely decorations up. From my experience the residents were made to feel part of the festive period. They even made gifts to give to their loved ones, and all the residents received a present from Santa. The staff wore Christmas pyjamas on Christmas Eve, and those who weren't working brought their children in, all dressed in Christmas pj's, and sang carols. I thought this was wonderful and so thoughtful. The carers are lovely, cheery people, who seem to genuinely care for the residents. I have also seen some of the cleaners helping the residents. I have found the admin staff very friendly and helpful. All the staff I have had contact with have made a very difficult time bearable. I am so glad we found this home, I didn't want to put my dad into a home, and fought against it for 7 years, but I feel he is in the best place. He is safe, cared for, needs met, well fed, entertained and settled.
I cannot fault Holyrood House my wife has been on the dementia ward nearly 3 years now. All staff are respectful to the needs of the residents. I am informed of any changes in her health or medications. The care home is always clean (nothing nasty or cover up smells). Staff are always friendly and polite. My wife is cared for better than I could care for her 24 hours a day.
Holyrood House is always clean and tidy, with welcoming staff. My mother has been a resident for over 2 years now and receives care and support with her dementia. Staff are very attentive to her and know exactly how to handle and speak with her. There always seems to be activities ongoing which is nice to see, and there are opportunities to attend and have a meal in a nice setting with my mother. Overall I am very satisfied with the care my mother receives.
My friend is well looked after and has been in the home over 4 years. Staff are patient and caring. The home is in nice condition and is always welcoming when I visit. There seem to be a lot of activities, but my friend doesn't join in, so I can't comment. I would be happy to recommend it as a care home.
Mum moved into Holyrood House in December after a previous respite visit. The staff are all very friendly and professional and any questions we had were addressed promptly and effectively. Mum needs round the clock care which is working well and we feel that she is safe and comfortable.
Both my parents are in Holyrood House and have been for 7 months now. Dad is quite settled now, but was slow at the beginning. Mum is very settled there. The staff are very friendly and brilliant with the residents. Staff talk often to us and let us know how things are going. Christmas was brilliant with my Mum and Dad. There was plenty of activities and I didn't need worry they were missing of festivities. I'm very pleased they are in there. And have no worries. Thank you .
Very happy with my mums care, however I am disappointed with the food, most of the staff are really nice. Me and my family have a very good relationship with staff.
Overall the care home is good. We find as a family the food is very disappointing and could be improved massively especially on an evening. Most staff are friendly. Definitely room for improvements in some areas.
