View Full Details of Spencer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareMy wife is now receiving permanent nursing care after initial respite care. Her medical needs for Alzheimer's are overseen by experienced nurses and care staff who deal with any necessary blood tests, hospital and doctor appointments. I selected Spencer House Care Home following extensive online and personal visit research and have been totally satisfied by the high quality of personal care and attention, both for my wife and reassurance and confidence for me.
I can not recommend Spencer House highly enough for anyone looking for a home for a loved one. My mother-in-law moved into the dementia care facility in October this year. After a traumatic few months before the move she was scared, didn't want to go there and we were really anxious about the future, fearing that she would never settle or be happy. When we went back to see her a week later... what a transformation! She couldn't wait to tell us how lovely the staff was, who her friends were, that the food was nice, and how much she liked her room. It was the happiest we'd seen her in a long time. Since then we have been nothing but delighted with her care. The staff are wonderful and always happy to talk about Mum, discuss anything about her care and well-being, as well as tell us what she's been up to, and things she's talked about. We look forward to seeing pictures on social media of her enjoying herself too. She may be confused, but she is safe, loved and happy, what more can you ask for?
Our elderly mother was accepted for respite care after several falls and stays in the hospital. Her room is bright and well-decorated. The staff are caring and attentive and couldn't do more for her. She has thrived and improved considerably in three weeks. Very happy with the care and attention and will probably stay as a permanent resident.
Spencer House is more akin to a lovely hotel than a care home. The facilities, shared spaces and rooms are beyond both mine and my Dad's expectations. The only thing that trumps the overall facilities, is the staff. From the moment my Dad moved in (feeling scared), the staff welcomed him with open arms, and he was instantly relieved as he walked into reception for the first time. I cannot express enough, in writing this review, on how thankful I am to all of the staff at the home, they all go out of their way to ensure my Dad is comfortable, understood and always has someone available to help him with his needs. Whether that is just a chat or something more personal, they all treat him with such care and dignity. My dad has now been in the care home for five months and he feels settled, comfortable and beyond all has a sense of belonging. Alongside this, the staff in my opinion, go above and beyond with some amazing personal touches and understanding of my dad's interests and needs.
My mum had been in Spencer House for just over five years before she sadly passed away three days ago. During that time, she was very well looked after by some lovely carers, house keepers, senior carers and management. Mum loved the carers, housekeepers etc, and I know they loved her. They went way beyond what their jobs entailed and made Mum so happy. When Mum got infections, they really excelled in looking after her, and nothing was too much trouble. I would advise anyone looking for a care home for a relative or friend to seriously look at this home.
My mum has been in Spencer House for three and a half years now. The care she receives is second to none. Every member of staff I have encountered has been friendly and caring. She is happier and healthier than ever before. The whole team do an amazing job. The care home itself is like a hotel, it is lovely and clean and comfortable. I am 100% happy with our choice of care home for our mum.
Our parents moved to Spencer House during November 22. Sadly, they have both passed away. During their time here, they received excellent care that we found faultless. Every member of staff was dedicated and truly went over and above, often doing the extra bit in their own time. They felt like family. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We have nothing but praise for the team who made our parent's last few months worth living. They were also super supportive of our extended family.
If you want to have peace of mind when a loved one moves into a care home then Spencer House will provide that. The kindness that the team show and the expertise they have is second to none. My father has found a new lease of life here. It's spotlessly clean with beautiful decor and the food is of a restaurant quality. It has a real family feel and there are many activities throughout the week. Dad also enjoys the in-house cinema. I live outside the UK and video call regularly with Dad and they are always so helpful in setting up the iPad for him. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Spencer House to anyone and am very grateful to the whole team who take care of my dad so well.
My brother and I could see when we first visited Spencer House to have a look around it had great facilities. It was very clean, had spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and the staff were friendly. A care home we felt would be best placed to support our father with his daily care and increasing health needs. Importantly somewhere where our father would be content and happy. Since our father moved into Spencer House his care has been second to none.
As a family, we have no words to express our gratitude and thanks for the exemplary care, love and attention my father and mother have received since they moved into Spencer House. From the initial introductory meeting to the end-of-life care my father has received and the ongoing love, care and attention my mother is still receiving, we have nothing but positive things to express about the amazing team that combines to provide personal, genuine and high-quality care. We would find it difficult to identify any individual, although we would love to name so many because each and every one of the team is exceptional. In addition, not only do the entire team show enormous respect and love towards my mother and father, they equally make our family feel like part of their family, and for that, we thank them all from the bottom of our hearts.
In all our dealings with Spencer House, my wife, brother and I have always found the management and staff to be super friendly, professional, courteous and respectful. My father moved into Spencer House in March of this year and is always treated with dignity and respect. He's a sociable man and has made good friends with a fellow resident. They sit together for meals, talk about their past and go to most of the entertainment events Spencer House put on. My father's room is both spacious and comfortable; it's well laid out and caters nicely for all his needs. There's also a cosy cinema room and the garden is superb. I would genuinely and absolutely recommend Spencer House to anyone.
What a lovely care home. My father has dementia and is treated with the utmost care and dignity. The staff are wonderful, kind, caring, patient and nothing is too much trouble for them. When he was welcomed into their care he was immediately made to feel at home and I would not want my dad to be anywhere else. I am sure the care he has received has extended his life by some considerable time due to the expertise and fantastic nursing care. It is always spotlessly clean and he loves the food. He has participated in some of the various activities they organise and enjoys the social side. The staff are always on hand to answer any questions we have and make all the family feel very welcome when we visit.
Before my sister-in-law moved into Spencer House we had visited and considered 17 other care homes. Spencer House Care Home here in Northampton has proved to be such a good choice. The kindness and care that my sister-in-law has enjoyed for the past 5 years has been second to none. The place is like a 5-star hotel with superb catering, and it is so well organised and managed. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful and always willing to do everything required of them. Dropping in to see my sister-in-law and her extended family nowadays is just such a pleasure.
Spencer House is a wonderful care home. The most important aspect of this home is that the staff are amazing, and I really believe that they care about the residents. My mum has been looked after so well, and we will always be grateful for that and always thankful that we chose the right home for Mum to spend her remaining time. The building is always spotlessly clean, and the food is top hotel quality, but for me, it is the people there that really make this a proper home for the residents.
Simply the best! My mum, in the late stages of dementia, was welcomed into Spencer House; she was shown dignity and care from the moment she arrived in reception. Every member of staff was kind and friendly, and one felt a true family atmosphere. Spencer House is spotlessly clean and warm, and the choice of food is excellent. I cannot thank the staff enough, including management and reception staff for their support - nothing was too much trouble. Spencer House has very high standards, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
My mum has complex physical health needs, and when my dad developed dementia, they were struggling to live safely at home, even with the support of a live-in carer. They came to Spencer House for respite care, but it soon became clear that their quality of life was vastly improved (as was mine), and they have now moved into a beautiful suite with all of the comforts of home. It's more like an open-plan studio apartment with a sleeping area, living area, dining area and kitchenette. Spencer House is well-staffed with wonderful individuals who always go the extra mile, from the fantastic management team to the lovely laundry lady who knew my parents' names from day one. There is entertainment every day, and my parents say the food is good. There are communal dining and living areas, and I've just left them in their suite, having a cup of tea with a visiting resident. I can't recommend Spencer House highly enough. It is such a huge relief to know that my parents are so well cared for.
Our mum had lived independently for many years since being widowed. Unfortunately, suffering from MS, last year, we had to face the inevitable prospect that she needed 24-hour care. Although she agreed, the thought of giving up her independence was very upsetting for her. After viewing multiple care homes in the area, we realised immediately when we visited Spencer House that it was the right one for Mum because it had a friendly, happy vibe, and its airiness and cleanliness were exemplary. Mum moved in last September and has felt at home from the outset. The staff are all lovely - from the reception staff to housekeeping, carers and managers. Nothing is too much trouble and the friendliness and kindness shown to Mum, and us as family, have made the whole process so much easier. Mum had always dreaded the thought of going into care, but now she says how happy and settled she is and how kind the staff are to her, so there really is not a lot more any of us could ask for.
Staff are excellent; they will always do their best, even when stretched. Staff show compassion and make the residents feel like family. The quality of the food has improved significantly over the time of my stay.
Mum has been in the dementia unit for almost a year now, after having moved in with my father. Unfortunately, Dad died suddenly after only six weeks, but I had achieved my aim of them being together. The staff are wonderful, caring and can’t do enough. Mum has been out on the minibus and has enjoyed the singers that have come into the home. Usually a very quiet and private person, they have managed to persuade her to participate in the activities. The home is pristine and has an on-site hair salon and podiatrist that visits. The housekeeping staff work very hard and are always respectful of entering the resident's rooms and are all very friendly. Can’t really comment on the food as have never been present at meal times, but the menus always look quite posh, though Mum has always been a very traditional person and prefers good old-fashioned food, she has gained weight so must be enjoying it. Admin, reception and management staff cannot fault. Highly recommend this home.
My mum lives at Spencer House Care Home. When my mum was admitted to the hospital, she was given 6-8 weeks to live. This was in April 2021. It is due to the best care she is received at Spencer's House that she is still with us and is comfortable and settled. She loves the staff and the food. All staff at Spencer House are very caring and kind. I can recommend Spencer House at any time for the high standards of care delivery.
