View Full Details of St John's HouseGenerally a good experience. Staff very kind and caring. Help when needed, friendly atmosphere.
My parents had a very good experience at St John's House. The staff were amazing in every area from care and cleaners, to management and front of house. We were made to feel welcome and overall the care was excellent. An area which could be improved is the catering with slightly larger portions for the evening meal. It would be nice for residents to eat communally more than once day. I would certainly recommend St. John's to other people needing a care home.
Fantastic team who do an amazing job supporting our dad who is ravaged by end stage dementia. This is a difficult job but the staff go above and beyond to do everything they can to support him. They have engaged the MDT team to support him in every way possible as his health and mobility decline. They really do put extra effort into ensuring that now he is rarely able to tolerate getting out of bed he isn't alone. They visit him in his room, one of the staff goes and plays guitar to dad who used to be a wonderful musician. They continue to try to see the man that once was through the veil of dementia and treat him with such care and kind respect although at times he can be quite aggressive and confused. They also do a great deal to support the rest of the family through this difficult time. They are so kind and welcoming to us all. We are so grateful for the staff and only wish they received a greater proportion of the high fees paid.
What a lovely place for my Nan to be in, the staff are all so helpful and friendly, the rooms are lovely and the food is also nice. My Nan had a fall and ended up in hospital and upon arrival back to the care home they helped get her back in her room, cleaned her up from the hospital and the manager visited her every hour through the night to make sure she was comfy and ok. Highly recommend this place for the care of your loved ones.
I found St John's House like a hotel from the very first time I looked around. The reception staff were very welcoming. All the staff members I met from management down were so nice. I didn't have one complaint or negative comment to make.
I was dreading this first Christmas with my husband in care but we were given the chance to have Christmas dinner with him and it was such a welcoming experience. The staff was so warm and caring, the table was set beautifully and the food excellent. My family and I are always warmly welcomed and feel that our dear one is very well taken care of. Home from home.
St Johns House Care Home has been a lifeline for my father. The staff really helped us and my dad adjust and have been extremely supportive throughout. My father is very well looked after, his needs are well met and more. We would be very happy to recommend St John's House and the entire team.
Without a doubt the best care home in the region. They provide absolutely excellent care for my dad who is a resident with dementia. The care and quality of the staff working there is second to none. We have been most impressed with the kindness shown to my dad and the level of respect he receives. They provide a very safe and warm place for my dad which gives us peace of mind. Staff have always kept us informed of his care and his changing needs and they have been able to adapt to accommodate any problems that they encounter with Dad. The staff have always been attentive and caring. The staff throughout the whole home are kind courteous and feel like family. They maintain a professional, caring attitude and always go above and beyond for Dad and us as a family. We have witnessed the same care and attention to other residents there. The St Johns family provides great social activities which they involve my dad in and as a family, we are always invited to join in as well.
Can't thank everyone at St John's House enough My 96-year-old friend stayed for 2 weeks for respite care. I could not believe the difference in just 3 days! All the staff were friendly and so accommodating. The lady on the front desk was very supportive and answered all the questions that I and my friend had. I would have no concerns about leaving my friend in the loving capable hands of St John's.
During 2 weeks of respite care, I enjoyed the home so much. I am selling my barn with a view to moving in. The staff are on an unbelievable team, all are so happy they make living in St John's a joy. The management is first class. 6 star living.
When making first contact I was impressed with the professionalism. I was passed to the home manager, a very pleasant helpful man, who conducted an interview over the phone to check my needs to make sure that all could be accommodated here. The management all greeted me on arrival. The food is excellent in lovely surroundings and care provided by friendly staff.
My aunt had the most amazing care during her stay here. The staff were kind and thoughtful and went out of their way to be helpful. They did everything they could during the last weeks of her life to make her time as peaceful and stress-free as possible. My family are very grateful that she could spend her final days here. Thank you to all of the amazing staff.
We were extremely pleased with the care our father, who has dementia, received during his 2-month stay at St John's. The care home and staff were extremely accommodating and nothing was ever too much.
A very positive experience. My friend could not have had better care. All the staff are so friendly and caring. If only all care homes were as good as St John's, this world would be a better place. Thank you to every single employee for making my friends stay so comfortable.
My dear aunt lived at St John's House for 6 years until her death in 2024. I was frequently at St John's and was always impressed with the staff’s attention to detail to ensure that my aunt's needs were met with dignity and care, according to her individual needs. I felt able to approach any member of staff and was always met with professionalism, calmness, and kindness. The activity team were dynamic and creative in their approach to daily activities. Activities were organised that were interesting, fun and with purpose. Often when people enter a care home they lose their identity, every effort was made for my aunt to feel important and valued within the St John's community. My aunt was not a ‘foodie’ but the chef and catering team provided well-presented food of a high quality. The home is well-run with a well-established front-of-house reception. As a retired social worker, I have visited hundreds of care homes, without doubt St John's is the best that I have ever been involved with.
The approach to St John's is outstanding. It doesn't stop there. Everything about the place - staff, decor, facilities is 5-star. Always greeted with a smile from all of the staff. My friend was treated with kindness and dignity. Would recommend to anyone.
I found the staff very helpful and caring. There was so much kindness under one roof. Although at first, I hadn't wanted to leave my home for a whole week, by the end of that time I wanted to have the staff and patients that I had connected with to come and visit me, but of course, this was not possible so I said a fond farewell to St John's House and settled down at home. The whole ethos of St John's was to care for clients who needed TLC. The food was tasty and nourishing, for my 4 p.m. meal I chose salad so it could be refrigerated until later.
We like the hotel-like aspect of St John's House and the friendliness of the staff. My brother likes to be able to choose from the menu and he likes the food. The floor manager is friendly and helpful.
All the staff at St John's House are incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they do everything with a smile and a 'can do' attitude. They treat Mum with great care, respect and dignity and as if she were an important member of their family. The activities are also excellent and we have great peace of mind knowing that our mum is being looked after so very well.
Very welcoming and caring staff, good food. My husband has been very happy here despite it being only the second time he has had respite. Cheerful staff, very kind my husband says. Everything dealt with very thoroughly and professionally.
