View Full Details of Llantarnam Lodge Care HomeI cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother receives at Llantarnam Lodge. She has been there for several years and is very content and happy. The staff are incredibly dedicated, compassionate, and professional, always ensuring her needs are met with kindness and respect. I have complete peace of mind knowing she is in such good hands. The staff are always prompt in answering the door and calls, and I generally have no issues with the level of communication. The team here truly go above and beyond, and the addition of new team members has further strengthened the level of service. I am deeply grateful for their hard work and commitment to making life better for everyone.
I am absolutely appalled by the level of care my grandmother received at Llantarnam Lodge Care Home. She suffers from dementia, and during her stay she was left alone without anyone checking on her for prolonged periods of time. This left her distressed and confused. The situation escalated when she fell and suffered a broken hip, yet we were not informed by the care home staff. It was only when my grandmother's condition worsened that we discovered the extent of the neglect. She is now hospitalised, and her prognosis is uncertain due to the lack of proper care and attention she received at the care home. I submitted a review previously and the response from the director was that 'she is doing very well and ready to be discharged from hospital' which couldn't be further from the truth and misleading to the general public. The disregard for her well-being is utterly inexcusable, and I strongly advise anyone looking for a care home to avoid this place at all costs.
Avoid this Care Home at all costs. Communication is extremely poor - in my experience you are unable to contact the Care Home when you need to. They do not answer the phone or the front door. You are charged for your notice period even if your relative is hospitalised due to the Care Home's actions/lack of actions. There are very limited activities for the residents. There are four care staff during the day for twenty-five residents and two at night for twenty-five residents even if residents are poorly/ requiring additional care. Management in my opinion don't have a true reflection of what is going on - they're unable to support their team. When you leave a negative review on carehome.co.uk their Responsible Individual and Director leaves a comment stating 'I am pleased to be informed that your grandmother is doing very well and that she is ready for discharge from hospital.' which is a total lie to make themselves look better to the general public.
I previously submitted a wonderful review for this care home prematurely after only two months of my mother residing at this care home and it was very much that, premature. I would not send my mother back to this home and would not recommend it to others.
Friendly, attentive, and caring. Will not hesitate to use the home again. My son strongly agrees. Pleased to hear that they would accept my husband again.
I was very pleased with my initial contact with home. Staff very pleasant and most helpful. I was shown around the home which was very clean, bright and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and had ensuite facilities. My husband took a couple of days to settle in but after was quite at home. His daughter visited and my son-in-law as I was away, both found him very happy. I would certainly use the care home again.
I felt very happy with the care, kindness and professionalism shown to my mother by every single member of staff at Llantarnam Lodge. It was always such a pleasure going to visit Mum. I would ring the bell and someone would answer with a warm welcoming smile.
My father has lived at the Lodge for 9 months and has loved it so far. The care staff are wonderful and work very hard to ensure Dad's needs are met and he is happy. The food is wonderful, although there could be a better selection of fruit or snack options throughout the day. The activities need improvement. Parties and activities thrown by the staff are wonderful but a more consistent activities staff member would be ideal. Overall I am very happy with the care Dad receives and always feel as though he's being left in safe hands.
My mother resided at Llantarnam Lodge for 8 years, during which time she was cared for very well. My mother had dementia. Mum was very happy and content there. The staff are all very caring. The management staff were always extremely accommodating and supportive. The facilities are very good and clean. The food is good. Fees are on the expensive side and did escalate year on year. The entertainment provided for residents unfortunately does fall short compared to other care homes. I would have liked to see more to occupy the residents and more inclusion of family members, regular coffee mornings, social events etc. Communication was also a little lacking in this area. Mum's end of life care was exceptional and very dignified and for that I will be eternally grateful.
Lovely place. Kind staff are always available should Dad want anything. Clean and bright environment where Dad is encouraged to eat drink mobilise and socialise. His vegetarian diet is well-catered for. So happy that Dad is happy and is gradually coming out of his shell. Thank you.
My father, who is 98 years, stayed at the Llantarnam Lodge for about two weeks in July. He really enjoyed his stay. He said that all of the staff were friendly, kind, helpful and attentive. He enjoyed the food and the facilities. He also enjoyed interacting with other guests and residents. I had some interaction with the manager and some of the other staff and found everyone to be professional, affable, approachable and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Llantarnam Lodge to anyone looking for an excellent care facility.
After both my sister and I looking after Mum for eight years we both realised we weren’t enough for her at the point she reached due to her Alzheimer’s. We cannot praise all members of staff at the home. Caring, attentive, professional and also a sense of humour! The staff are all so approachable, kind and reassuring and nothing is too much trouble. At first, Mum found it hard to settle in, but with the patience shown towards Mum and constant reassurance from all members of staff, she got there in the end. The home is clean and inviting and she is now in a routine which has helped her immensely. She’s happy, has made new friends and we as a family are so very grateful for all their help in welcoming Mum into this wonderful environment. So a very big thank you!
What a wonderful home away from home. All the staff have been welcoming, kind and friendly. My mother-in-law has been settled and happy since the moment she arrived. I have been so impressed by the care she has received from everyone. I am told every day by my mother-in-law that the food is fabulous and the ladies (carers) are so considerate, accommodating, and kind. The cleanliness of the home is excellent. What an amazing place. I would not hesitate to bring my mother-in-law back when the need arises.
An amazing home, the staff are always warm, friendly and welcoming. Cannot praise them enough. Their care is above and beyond not only to my mother, to all residents and their families. The cleanliness of the home is excellent. What an amazing place.
My Mother has been a resident at Llantarnam Lodge for a while now and as a frequent visitor, I find the staff very friendly and welcoming and always pleased to offer an update on how my mother is. A while ago, mum was in a dark place but now she is so far from that. Previously she wanted me to take her home but now she frequently tells me how happy she is at the Lodge. The staff clearly have a focus on the needs of the residents, mum has Dementia and not only are there frequent activities and events, but there has also been a recent introduction of electronic pets. These devices can be very therapeutic, especially to those with Dementia, being around these pets, the difference in mum is astonishing, it is a joy to see. Yes, mum is in her own world but it's a happy place which is more than I could wish for. Personally I wish to send a heartfelt thank you to all the team at the Lodge, undoubtedly they have a challenging job to do but it is done very professionally.
Llantarnam Lodge provides an environment far superior to all others in the locality. It is well designed to provide the highest standard of care, using many state of the art systems to monitor and ensure a safe, secure home for all. The Lodge is well managed and the staff are professional, courteous and all have that caring gene. The Lodge manager leads by example and sets a service tone that echo's through everything in the home. I was most impressed with the way in which my uncle's ailments and needs were immediately recognised and provided for. Be it medical or wellbeing or simply a "like", it was catered for, swiftly and without having to ask or chase. They are simply "on the ball" across everything. Their attention to detail is impressive. The Lodge provides not just a care service but a complete care service. My first impression was very good and that has not slipped at all. Three months in, consistency of standards and service provision has not faltered.
My relative moved into this accommodation earlier this year. He has settled in extremely well and could not be happier.
Llantarnam Lodge is excellent overall. My father has been a resident for nearly 4 years. As this time has passed, he has required more help and attention. His needs have always been met by kind and considerate staff. The home is bright and the atmosphere is always pleasant. I would recommend the home to anyone looking for a safe and happy home for their loved ones.

Llantarnam Lodge is a lovely place to go and spend the final journey for some in life. The staff are lovely and are always there with help and a warm smile, nothing seems to be a problem to them. It's a great satisfaction to know your loved ones are in good hands and I would truly recommend this nursing home, truly to anyone just go and visit. I'm there most days and the love they show is always there, God bless you and your families.
