View Full Details of Shinfield ViewMy wife went into Shinfield View in November 2024, and from the first day I could see that the carers were kind, considerate and understanding. My wife was resident on first floor due to her Dementia diagnosis. My wife settled in well and enjoyed the food and activities. I and members of the family visited regularly and we were always made welcome and kept informed of my wife's wellbeing and activities. One highlight was being able to have lunch in the Bistro with my wife whenever we wished, which she really enjoyed. As time went on my first impressions of the staff were confirmed they were dedicated, caring, cheerful, and nothing was to much trouble for them. Sadly my wife's health deteriorated and she required a lot more care, which the staff willingly provided. Sadly my wife passed away in the home on 1st February, and I cannot fault the staffs care from the day that she arrived until her sad passing.
I'm delighted with the care received for my mother. Staff are lovely and truly caring and approachable. Facilities are great, of special note are the organised events. The property is always clean, food is good.
My dad first went to Shinfield for respite, beginning of September he needed to go in permanently due to his decline with his dementia. The move was smooth and Dad has settled in really well. From management through to all the staff, were so kind and caring and helped all of us navigate this change. Because of the dementia, there have been a lot of ups and downs with my dad's health, communication has been excellent every time. Would definitely recommend this care home, I feel happy that my dad is being looked after well.
We were impressed with Shinfield View from the beginning when the newly appointed Manager and her colleague went to my friend's home at short notice for a pre-assessment. Within two days my friend was welcomed into the home. From our first visit, we always received a warm welcome. The receptionist and carers always had time for us, no matter how busy they were. Shinfield View is a very well-appointed home with a lovely garden and vegetable patch. My friend was a resident on the first floor due to her increasing dementia. The staff were so kind to her, which she herself regularly remarked on. She enjoyed joining in with the activities and thoroughly enjoyed the food which she said was excellent. As her health deteriorated the care of the local GP and nurses and excellent communication with us was always very reassuring. We visited 2 days before my friend died in the home, but were comforted by the fact that she was never left on her own as the end drew near.
We were very happy when Dad went to Shinfield View, he was safe there and we were not as worried about him as we had been. Once he settled in, his life there was great, we wish he would go back permanently, but unfortunately, he always wanted to return to his own home. All his needs were looked after; as well, as physically looking after his well-being, his mind was kept active with various outings and activities. He gained friends at Shinfield, both residents and staff. For someone who had previously led such an active and independent life, we thought it would be difficult for him to adapt but he enjoyed himself. The environment and surroundings meant it was a pleasure for us as family and friends to visit him, in a lovely, caring environment. The food was lovely & he enjoyed having half a lager too! Everyone was so kind to him.
Fantastic staff, even if under pressure, still manage to smile, great activities for everyone, everyone will find something they enjoy. Residents are encouraged to join in with activities. Surroundings always look fresh and clean, beautiful gardens to sit out in on a sunny day. My mother-in-law looks very well looked after and enjoys the food, which looks delicious, especially with a glass of wine! Great evening events for families to join in with their loved ones. Turn up at any time and always plenty of staff around and always makes your visit special. My mother-in-law now refers to Shinfield View as her home. Since being at Shinfield View, we no longer have any stress or worries about her well-being. Thank you to all the staff for your brilliant and hard work.
Shinfield View has been caring for my 90-year-old father for the past seven months. The level of care from the entire team during his stay has been outstanding. Dad settled very quickly and happily into the care home and his new surroundings, which, frankly, was a surprise, as throughout most of 2022, he consistently refused to entertain any discussion with his family over his well-being if the conversation ever included mention of care homes! Dad agreed to a one-month respite trial at Shinfield View, and within only a matter of a few days in their care, he had decided he wanted to stay for good and became a permanent resident. The staff are wonderful - he is treated at all times with the utmost care, respect and dignity. I have had no cause for complaint throughout the past seven months, and I would thoroughly recommend Shinfield View to anyone considering placing a loved one in a care home.
Words cannot even express how happy we were to choose Shinfield View for our mother’s final months of her life. With a sudden sad diagnosis, she knew she could no longer live on her own. The staff at Shinfield View embraced her with kindness and compassion beyond being like family. Amazing location, garden, activities, food and a beautiful large room. We were beyond thankful every single day she was there for the comforts and care she received. Weekly varied calendars of events for all levels of abilities, incredible, plentiful, tasty food for all. Such generosity to extend this to visitors and family alike. Carers, staff and admin all going above and beyond day-in-day-out. The end days of my mother’s life were sacred to us, and we were treated with continuous compassion and care around the clock. Truly, couldn’t have asked for anything more. We would highly recommend Shinfield View to anyone lucky enough to consider having their loved one in this beautiful home. My brother and I will forever be grateful.
Shinfield View was the perfect home for Mum to spend her last five weeks in. She loved the location and the ability to still share coffee and chat with her friends and family. Above all, the great facilities and events, the staff and the people at Shinfield View are what make it so special. From the receptionist to the carers, the ladies in charge, the cleaners, cooks, singers and event coordinators - everyone who works at Shinfield View cares for the residents and has a calling and passion for what they do. Thank you all for caring for me and my sister as well as our beloved Mum.
My father was very well looked after, and the staff were very kind and helpful. He was encouraged to take part in the activities and not remain in his room. He went home looking very well cared for. He was on respite for two weeks.
What a wonderful place Shinfield View is. It is spotless and so beautifully furnished. The staff are also amazing. But this doesn't take away the fact that all the staff are friendly, kind and passionate about how they care for your loved one and their relatives. Our mum moved here in March 2023, but unfortunately, only had four weeks here before she passed away. She died at the home, and we were all there with her. The staff through the night looked after Mum right until the end and opened up a room for us to take a break, providing endless coffee, tea, sandwiches and pastries. I would not have wanted Mum to have been anywhere else. Our only regret is that Mum couldn't have enjoyed it more surrounded by these beautiful staff who show love, respect and dedication. Don't hesitate to consider this home; you will not regret it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A wonderful, friendly home, like a five-star hotel for the elderly. Good continuity of staff - sone for over six years. All staff are lovely, showing care, empathy and understanding for both residents and their families. Residents are encouraged to take part in the varied activity program, including exercise classes, chair practice, trips out etc. They keep an eye on the resident's dietary requirements and intake. They take photos for Facebook to keep loved ones updated. Fun and happy atmosphere throughout. We have both enjoyed the social activities and feel very happy.
Very caring staff, always go above and beyond. Lots of activities for guests and beautiful food in a lovely bistro. Thank you for the care of Mum.
A very friendly, well-run care home with excellent activities and catering for everyone's needs who wish to participate. A feeling of friendliness as soon as you walk in through the door. Very pleased I chose this home for my sister - as she says, "we couldn't have done better".
From my mother's first to the very last day at Shifield View, the service, care and respect have been outstanding. I cannot single out individual members of staff as they have all been equally outstanding - housekeepers, kitchen, care and activities. My mother's end-of-life care was also very moving and respectful by all involved. Thank you, Shinfield View.
Excellent facility and a wonderful primary carer. Fantastic care from all staff. Mum has been drawn out of her shell and is happy to return. So many activities and encouragement to join in. All the staff know all the residents well. Clean and well-maintained surroundings. Dignity is maintained at all times. Treated as people and not as patients/clients.
Thank you so very much for taking such good care of our nan over the past four weeks whilst she has been in respite care. She has thoroughly enjoyed all of the day trips, entertainment, food and a glass of wine! She has been so well looked after; the staff have truly been incredible, she has formed some wonderful friendships, and she can't stop talking about all of you. The most important part of her stay has been interacting with people; we will encourage her to pop in to say hello as often as she can. She is thrilled to be home but will miss you all so much; thanks once again for everything.
My brother has taught in a primary school and a secondary school for over 40 years. He is a bachelor and was finding it very difficult to cope at home. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and his doctor recommended I find a care home that could provide my brother with the social stimulation that he required. The staff at Shinfield View are all very caring and provide my brother with the respect and dignity which he deserves. The activities staff have tried to ensure that he is included in activities within the care home and in outside visits where he can bring out the best of what he remembers from his career. He particularly enjoys his time with the group and their Mums in the garden and when he dances with other residents to tunes played by a visiting band or singers.
A happy home! The staff are very kind, attentive and caring, and there is good interaction with the residents and their families. The residents are well cared for. The home is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bedrooms have adequate furniture. No one will ever starve during their stay at Shinfield View, as the quality of the food is exceptional and plentiful! For those residents that wish to participate, there is a very popular events timetable. For those that want quiet time, there is a lovely library room or lobby area with comfortable seating. There is a very nice, secure garden and patio area with tables and chairs.
In late 2021, we realised live-in carers were no longer able to meet our mother's needs. We viewed several care homes and were immediately impressed by Shinfield View - friendly, professional and with all-inclusive fees, no hidden extras. Mum moved here in December. Staff have dealt brilliantly with the challenges of Covid and kept us up to date with the home's Covid precautions. They have worked hard to help Mum settle in and enjoy a better quality of life than was possible in her own home. Her mobility has improved and after years of being housebound, she has been able to join group outings, including to the seaside. News and photos of outings and activities are posted on the Shinfield View Facebook page - the food always looks splendid!
