View Full Details of Ferndown ManorThe Manor is a spacious and pleasant environment. It is always clean and neat, and the staff are always pleasant. The arrangement of the rooms from a visitor's point of view could do with reviewing, as there is generally not a visitor's chair, and if there is you can only sit on the other side of the bed and if there is not you have to sit on the bed.
Ferndown Manor and all the staff continue to be amazing in all the care, understanding, provision of entertainment and activities for my mother in law. Their support to her and her needs and to us as a family at a distance goes above and beyond. My mother in law has flourished since becoming a resident at Ferndown Manor which is all attributed to the comments above.
Ferndown Manor is an excellent care home. The management and all members of staff are always kind, helpful and extremely supportive. My mother has had several respite stays over the past year and l have had the pleasure of getting to know many of her carers. The home is clean, well run and offers so many things such as hairdressing, chiropody, a lovely coffee shop, various activities for the residents and their families, and delicious, varied nutritious meals. l felt that my mother was always safe, well cared for and treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Thank you to everyone.
Mum and I have found the staff to be caring and kind towards her. She is comfortable and looked after her well. However mum would love to be able to chat with a staff member each day, although she realises that the staff are very busy.
Mom moved into the home in June 2024. Since that date she has settled in well enjoys the activities and is much more like 'My old mum'. The care given is exemplary and always given with a smile.
Generally happy with the care dad receives. The staff take time to get to know him and tailor the care accordingly. Minor concerns about the inconsistency of activities on offer, this is due to unavailability of staff, particularly at weekends. Food seems good and plenty of variation. Facilities starting to show their age although maintenance staff are excellent. Non-care staff (chefs, reception, housekeeping) all show care and compassion to residents. Management often invisible.
Huge thanks to the managment team and all your brilliant staff (including the chefs and catering staff) who took care of my husband whilst he stayed with you for respite during September. He hasn't stopped talking about how wonderful everything and everyone were - so much kindness came his way making his 'holiday' a real pleasure, he was very reluctant to leave. This all helped our family and myself to cope with my hospitalisation knowing that he was safe, happy and so well cared for in such a beautiful home from home. Please relay our heartful thanks to all.
A very welcoming rest home, with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are always happy and efficient, everywhere clean and tidy. My mum came out looking better than when she went in. The food was good (including the cakes!) and well received. Her only gripe was being woken up at 22.00 for her medication - she's used to taking it at 20.00.
I have no complaints about any of the staff or the way I am treated. I am very happy here.
Excellent care home, the team build great relationships with the patients and families, becoming an extended part of your family as well. The home is always clean and staff do an excellent job helping the families cope with the difficult circumstances their loved ones are experiencing. Highly recommend the home.
The staff at Gould Ward were excellent, caring, kept my updated regarding my mother's dementia. They should be rewarded they all went the extra mile. All staff at Ferndown Manor always polite and smiling. Please give everybody a good pay rise as they are the front of the team.
Overall very good experience
I have really had a good experience staying at Ferndown Manor Care Home. The level of care has been first-class. Social activities were really enjoyable as I usually do not attend any when I am at home. I shall miss the company and staff and hope to come for respite again.
Absolutely pleased with the package of care received by my father over the past year. Even as he lost physical capacity he was treated so well. The social side of this care home is second to none. All the staff are so kind and friendly. Safe, clean, bright environment with a lovely secluded garden.
From the moment my husband moved into Ferndown Manor I knew I had chosen well. He was always kept neat and clean as was the home. He had clean white sheets and towels and the basin and toilet were spotless. The staff were caring and considerate of the gentleman he was. He enjoyed the food, and on occasion, we ate together. Nothing was too much trouble. He enjoyed the activities the entertainment staff organised, always coming up with new ideas tailored to him. I couldn't have chosen a better place for him to end his life, surrounded by caring people in his own room overlooking the garden. Not only did they care for him but for me too. They included me in his life and were so compassionate when he passed.
Excellent care since the home opened 7 years ago. Friendly and attentive, good communication about residents' situation.
This was a good experience for my partner having not been in respite care before. He was very well cared for in the two weeks he stayed. The nurses were amazing, very reassuring, and kind to him. The only problem with the TV not working properly is this is an item he likes to watch, my 1 suggestion is that a satellite TV would be a better option as there is more variety of programs.
My friend was a resident at Ferndown Manor for only a matter of a few weeks and lately received end-of-life nursing care. She was treated with dignity and kindness. This same level of care and kindness was also extended to me by the staff when she passed away on Sunday afternoon, nothing was too much trouble for them. Although it was only a short period I would not hesitate to recommend Ferndown Manor. As well as a very caring staff team the home is beautifully decorated and maintained, giving you a feel of home as soon as you walk through the door.
My Aunt came to Ferndown Manor 4 years ago. For the whole time she spent there she was very well cared for with a great deal of respect and patience by all the staff. Sadly she passed away just before Christmas but the care she was given during her last couple of weeks was exceptional - all the carers, nurses and members of staff were so caring and kind to her and allowed her to pass away peacefully and with dignity. Ferndown Manor has a warm and caring atmosphere which is evident from the moment you step through the door. All the staff I met were always so kind to me and they were wonderful with my Aunt who could, at times, be challenging. She enjoyed the food there and the occasional activities she took part in - particularly trips out on the minibus. Having lived independently on her own up until she had to move into the care home, it wasn't easy for her to adapt but all the staff gave her the respect and space she needed.
When my father entered Ferndown Manor with dementia we were very concerned about him and how frail, withdrawn and disinterested he had become. He could barely walk and had decided to stay in bed all day and his interest in food was non-existent. Due to the wonderful specialist care he has been given by all the staff on Talbot, and indeed throughout the home, he has amazingly got his old spark back again. Within weeks he had gained strength and due to the tailored nutrition was eating again in small amounts which gave him the strength to get back on his feet. We are more than delighted with Dad's progress under Ferndown Manor's expert care. From initial talks with managers to the amazing nursing staff on Talbot (every single one of you!) to the wonderful activities staff, housekeeping and the lovely receptionists, Ferndown Manor is truly an 'A team' We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting top-quality care for their loved ones.
