Over 6 years my Aunt was treated with great dignity and respect. In this last month before she died even more so much more than in the hospital and we are so grateful for everyone's care and attention. The only criticism we had was a leak which had appeared on her ceiling although stopped left an unsightly large mark for about a year. But the care and staff were excellent.
I have just recently moved into my flat. I was really impressed by the care and service I received. The staff and carers were really attentive. The carers came to see me three a day.
My mum lived at The Meadows for the last, almost three years of her life, and was happy from day one. She loved interacting with the staff and the other residents and participated in as many activities as she could. She even started knitting again - although I think she probably enjoyed the natter too! Every member of staff and management that I encountered was caring, courteous, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. In the last difficult two weeks of her life, Mum was cared for beautifully and consistently by The Meadows staff. She loved living here.
I have nothing but the highest admiration and respect for all the staff, carers and admin who cared for my sister during her last days. Some of the carers exceeded the expected levels of support both before and during her short illness. Thank you to all concerned for your support during this difficult time.
You cannot find a better care facility than The Meadows. Everything is fantastic from the flats, the facilities and the staff. Everyone is respectful, kind, caring and go above and beyond to help. I feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful place to live.
I have been very impressed at the way the staff have been both polite and helpful. Although the building is a large building it is easy to move around without getting lost. There are plenty of books to read along with activities often in the bar and lounge. I struggle being in crowds but found it has not been a problem as the staff have bought food to my room and collected crockery/cutlery later. The staff in the coffee shop have helped me in regards to my confusion in my food purchases.
My partner moved into The Meadoes in March 2023. The flat is lovely, spacious and very warm with lovely views. The facilities in The Meadows are outstanding both for residents and visitors. There is a restaurant, cafe and bar for activities and relaxation. An activity room, hairdressers, small shop and library. This is a very good residence for people who want to live almost independently but with the care as required; yet also give the opportunity to mix with others if wished. On the whole, the care was very good. My only criticism is that the care staff never really got to grips with the stoma care. No matter how many times we spoke about it, there were issues almost daily. Care from agency staff also fell short of the normal care standards. The staff who got to know my partner well gave excellent care and recognised his needs. He was very happy whilst he resided there. I have marked the restaurant food down slightly as I think they didn’t pay attention to his diabetes health and think more offering of fresh vegetables and fruit ought to be offered. Most of it looked frozen or tinned. For a non-private sector facility, I would really recommend The Meadows.
Very good experience. Well up to what I need.
Have found this place to be welcoming and friendly. Cannot fault anyone or anything. It's good to know that people are on hand if needed, long may it carry on. Keep up the good work. Many thanks.
The Meadows is an excellent place to live and I am very happy here. All the staff are very good, kind and helpful and help you in any way they can. There is always something going on to join in if we wish.
They are all very good.
Since Mum has been here, we have been so much more at ease, her care and needs are always met and carers are always lovely and friendly. Highly recommend.
The team at The Meadows cared for my father and stepmother for 30 months. I cannot fault their kindness and attentiveness. Both were approaching end of life, both increasingly impacted by dementia, but their needs were met with unfailing consideration and patience. The facilities are outstanding - they had a comfortable flat which we were able to make their own. I would strongly recommend The Meadows to anyone.
My review regards The Meadows, at Bowthorpe Care Village. My mother resided at The Meadows for just over a year in an Assisted Living flat, before passing away. What can I say, what a lovely caring place, all the staff are friendly, approachable, and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. We all want the best for our parents when the time comes for care, we want to ensure they are treated with respect, dignity, and care and are safe at all times they deserve nothing less. The Head Leader, is truly a lovely caring person, very approachable, and always listens to what you have to say, nothing is too much trouble. Our family was happy, knowing that our mother was taken care of, by a wonderful team of carers, and we were happy in the knowledge, that our mother was safe. I would give Bowthorpe Care Village, The Meadows more stars if I could. On behalf of our family, I wish to convey, a big thank you to them all.
My wife and I moved into The Meadows at the end of August 2023. The management and staff are extremely kind and helpful whilst still respecting one's independence. Saying this, we found it reassuring that help is always on hand 24 hours per day 7 days a week. Our flat is remarkably spacious and works very well for us. Each flat has a balcony and the gardens are very pleasant. You also have the choice of cooking lunch for yourself or eating in the restaurant. Buses are within a few hundred yards and car parking is available.
Staff are very helpful, polite and considerate. Plenty of activities and facilities.
My move to the Meadows was a reluctant one. I was finding it very hard to accept that I needed care at all, and certainly while only in my 50s. However from viewing to moving in and then to making it my home every single person I have encountered has gone above and beyond my highest expectations. I have felt valued, listened to, cared for and above all else that my dignity comes first to everyone I encounter. This is an amazing place with incredibly special people.
We are so very pleased with the positive changes that have occurred with my mother even though she as only been at The Meadows for 3 weeks. For the previous six months, she hardly got out of bed and although carers visited daily her eating habits were bot good and all meals were eaten in bed. Since arriving at The Meadows, she gets up each day for breakfast, eats lunch in the restaurant and is happier than we have seen her in a long time. Caring is excellent and her medication review has proved positive. Thank you.
Both staff and carers have been found to be friendly, efficient and understanding. Extremely happy with my mom's safety. Lovely little department. I can rest easy knowing that she has the help and care she needs 24/7.
Our family was so lucky that Dad was able to move to The Meadows Care Home when he couldn't manage to live alone any longer. His flat was perfect for him and the facilities, activities, food and safety were fantastic. Each member of staff was always caring, polite and knew Dad and us well. Dad was very well cared for during his two-year stay and we would thank everyone for keeping him safe and extremely supported and supporting us too.
