View Full Details of Barnes LodgeMy brother has been a resident at Barnes Lodge for eleven months now, I can compare his care because he was at another care home previously. I cannot express my thanks enough to the staff and management! Nothing is too much trouble, from when we arrive to visit until we leave, I have noticed a vast improvement in his care and cleanliness from his previous care home. Staff are always kind and engaging with my brother, who I must say, doesn't always appreciate this because of his learning difficulties.
On visiting Barnes Lodge to see my father, I found the place in a clean and pleasant environment. The staff were polite to me as well as, more importantly, to my father. Dad looked happy and content, neatly looking despite still wearing his PJ top. But most importantly, he seemed comfortable and happy which seems to be this way every time I visit him. So clean and pleasant surroundings, polite staff and I'm very happy that my father is being looked after at Barnes Lodge.
Best care home I have found in the area.
Staff are very kind and attentive. Always happy to answer queries. I am grateful that their kindness has helped Mum to settle. She had to move from another care home - that is difficult at her age. A member of staff has helped Mum to integrate with activities. A member of staff on reception has always been supportive. Thank you everyone.
I have been extremely happy with the care given and the staff have been very pleasant. Thank you.
My mum has been in this home for six months. During this time the management staff have been extremely helpful with funding problems and any general problems I have raised, such as personal care for Mum. I have spent a lot of time in the home and the care staff - permanent and agency - have been caring and considerate to Mum, always trying to answer any queries and offer any extra help when needed. I would also like to comment on the positive approach of staff and their ability to bring humour to a situation in an appropriate way. Although the activities staff members have changed recently, they are working hard to set up suitable activities to match the differing levels of need and choice and have sought Mum's input on a number of occasions. The home is bright and airy and has recently undergone some redecoration and work to improve safety measures. All this helps to make a better environment for residents and visitors.
Mum has lived at Barnes Lodge for two years. Overall, she has been well looked after by caring staff. Although she is physically frail with diminishing mobility, she still has good mental capacity, I think this is not always recognised fully. It would be helpful if a 'who's who' board of staff could be displayed. It would also be good to see a weekly menu and weekly activity programme on display. Refurbishments look good.
My wife, a victim of Alzheimer’s, spent the last nineteen months of her life at Barnes Lodge and I myself spent many hundreds of hours with her during that time. During all that period, I witnessed nothing but kindness, compassion and devotion by staff and I did not see a single incident that caused me concern. The same level of care and dedication was shown by both permanent and agency staff - carers and nursing - and it was humbling to see the gentleness and love with which they worked. The home was a very happy place and there always seemed to be cheerfulness and laughter. A lot of emphasis was on various activities through the activities committee. The management were also very much aware of the pressures faced by family members and were always ready to discuss them. Selecting a care home can be a hit-and-miss exercise but my family and I give thanks that we found Barnes Lodge and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it as a caring and safe sanctuary.
I am very grateful for the excellent care that my Mum received at Barnes Lodge during the final few months of her life. She was always treated kindly by the nursing and care staff who helped her to keep her dignity throughout and tried hard to respect her preferences. We felt that there was a positive, helpful attitude from all the staff that we encountered. The visiting GP service at the home was excellent too. The facilities provided to Mum in her room and elsewhere were practical and fit for purpose. Visiting procedures at Barnes Lodge worked pretty well during a difficult time and the administrative staff were always friendly and warm towards us, whether in person or on the phone. I strongly recommend Barnes Lodge.
My mother has been a resident at Barnes Lodges for five and a half years. The family have always been very appreciative of the excellent care given to her. Last year my father was also a resident for a short period of time, until his death, and again excellent care shown. In the current pandemic, we have appreciated the virtual contact and recently distanced visits.
My mum has been in Barnes Lodge since it opened, I work in the care sector so knew what I wanted for her. Barnes Lodge has exceeded my expectations, with a dedicated team who always give the residents just that little bit extra. The manager is outstanding, always prepared to give her time to me, my mum and all the residents. She has made Barnes Lodge "a home". The laundry, the kitchen and the cleaning staff, and the wonderful care staff make Barnes Lodge a wonderful place. Thank you.
My mother constantly comments on the kindness that the carer is.
Staff very attentive and friendly.
Care and environment are very good.
The staff in general are very friendly and helpful to patients and visitors and caring to patients.
I find the staff are very welcoming and care for relatives as much as the residents. On many occasions, the staff have gone over and above the call of duty. They respect the idiosyncrasies of the residents and so far, as is possible, accommodate them. I have huge respect for them and nothing is too much trouble, however unpleasant it might be.
Very well kept care home. Clean and tidy, very happy environment. Staff friendly and exceptionally helpful. Nothing is too much trouble when wanting information regarding the resident. I thoroughly recommend this care home.
Daughter of long term resident who has vascular dementia. So very grateful for the care and kindness given to mum and for two-way communication with staff and management. Have witnessed such care and kindness by care staff at Barnes Lodge when caring for mum who is safe and cared for always. Thank you.
My Mother has been a resident at Barnes Lodge for over a year now and I feel that her wellbeing has improved significantly over this time. This is in no doubt, down to the excellent care and attention that she receives from the staff/carers.
My mother had a brief respite stay in Barnes Lodge to attend a series of family functions in the region. From first arrival staff were accommodating and welcoming - her daily requirements were met in a kind and considerate manner which accommodated the somewhat varied itinerary my Mother had during her visit.
