View Full Details of Casa di Lusso Nursing HomeMy Father moved to Casa di Lusso in July 2023 and sadly passed in February 2025, but his time at the home exceeded my expectations. Dad had complex dementia and medical needs but nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. They were always quick to reassure me and keep me in the loop with regard to any issues that arose, and helped complete necessary forms and documents. Dad was encouraged to join in activities, many of which he would never have considered when younger, and one lovely memory I have, is of him flower arranging, something that was always my Mother's domain. All the staff are amazing, and truly care. To be greeted by name as you arrive, for them to tell you that "Dad was very chatty this morning when they walked through the unit" or "He's a bit grumpy today" really lifted a burden off my shoulders. My Dad had the best care possible, and now he's gone I will miss the smiles and caring staff that made our dementia journey bearable.
My mother-in-law became a resident at Casa di Lusso in May 2024, she was previously in another care home for a truly brief period but that care home was unable to deal with her extensive needs. I have only praise for Casa di Lusso, they have been able to deal with my mother-in-law's needs and her excessive and difficult behaviours. The support we have received from the management and staff has been of the highest order. Their caring qualities are exceptional. The management has helped us to deal with the various legislation that is involved with a person who has advanced dementia and this has been invaluable. The family and I were unsure about placing my mother-in-law into care but now know that it was the right thing to do making her safe and cared for to the highest standards!
Mum is no longer with us. Mum received palliative care in her final days at Casa di Lusso Nursing Home. I would text family, peaceful, loved and cared for. Those words could have been used for the entirety of mums time living at Casa di Lusso. The staff are wonderful. Those going home for the weekend, came in to see mum before going home; they knew there would be no mum come Monday morning. I would remark to my work colleagues, the staff are like extended family. They knew mum inside out; we are indebted to them for the loving care showed to mum. Dad also had a brief stay at Casa di Lusso. With dad witnessing at first hand the exceptional care being given to mum, dad made his departure to join the other angels; and wait patiently for mum. Everything written back in July 2023, is as true today, as it was then. The final words though, belong to mum. About May, mum said to me, how long have I been here? About sixteen months mum. Everyone is so kind to me.
Dad spent his last weeks here, as he was palliative. The care that dad received was amazing, staff were all fantastic with dad and treated him with great dignity and respect. I would highly recommend this home to anyone, it is the best in the area. The facilities are fantastic, clean and doesn't resemble a normal care home, more like a hotel. I would like to thank all the staff for their compassion, empathy, and support with everything, thank you.
I saw my Stepmother by video every week and visited every couple of months. Each time she seemed content and all the staff were very helpful, considerate, and caring. Although she didn't take part in many of them, there were a lot of activities going on. All areas appeared clean and smart, not just reception.
This is a truly wonderful nursing home. My mother was a resident for nearly 3 years at Casa di Lusso before she finally passed away peacefully. In that time I was continually impressed by the home. There were so many positives, though the top one was the stability of both management and carers such that by the end of my mother's time at Casa di Lusso they felt like family friends. The building is modern and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff including the manager, nurses, carers, activities leader, and housekeeping are always friendly and helpful. Mum was never talked over, even when it wasn't obvious she was able to understand they always included her in their discussions with me and sought her input to her care. My mother's preferences were always sought, and ways were found to make a long stay in residential care as personal and home-like as possible. I am grateful to Cassa di Lusso, and Mum came to call it home.
I have found it very difficult to come to terms with my lovely husband being anywhere other than home, where it feels he belongs. We have shared our lives for the past 45 years, but if he has to be anywhere I have felt your staff have been so kind and treated him with such respect that I have comfort in knowing he is with you. Nothing ever seems too much trouble and they are always considerate when I or other family and friends visit. I cannot praise your home enough. I feel you have given him some dignity back in his life at a time when that is very difficult, thank you all.
From arrival at reception to the ward, absolutely brilliant care to my husband while at Casa di Lusso Nursing Home, all staff are very kind and considerate. Could not fault this place. Would definitely recommend this care home.
You all make Casa such a lovely place to be. We always felt welcomed, and Aunty was always cared for wonderfully. She was happy and safe; you all do an amazing job. We are so grateful she was with you all. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. You are all amazing. Thank you so much.
Amazing staff throughout. Very caring individual care. Great facilities for residents. Just a wonderful place for long term care. Treating residents as an individual throughout their stay - so well done. Thank you very much everyone.
My dad was at Casa di Lusso Nursing Home from September 2019 until he died in May 2022, he had dementia. We moved Dad back from Musgrove so he could receive better end-of-life care at Casa di Lusso Nursing Home than the hospital could provide. Management and staff did everything they could to make me and Mum comfortable over his last days and nights. On arrival back from Musgrove, the day staff stayed late past their 12-hour shift to help settle Dad back in and welcome him home. The night staff were also wonderful, regularly checking on him and us while explaining what was happening. The final day, we encouraged staff to come and say their goodbyes, which they did. Management made a special trip out of their busy day to come and pay their respects too. The last few hours, Dad was surrounded by all the staff who had known him and us from day one, it was a peaceful and dignified ending. One year on we still visit Casa di Lusso Nursing Home to say hello, they always give us a warm welcome and treat us like family.
Everybody concerned with my father has looked after him with great care and attention. I cannot fault any of the services supplied. I would recommend the home to anyone.
Mum arrived at Casa di Lusso Nursing Home as an emergency case in December 2021, as her previous care home closed and she needed nursing care, which was difficult to secure in lockdown. Casa provided that essential care and support. Despite the lockdowns and a lack of government guidance post-pandemic on 'getting back to normal' with residents' visits, the Casa team dealt with this with calm and reasonable dialogue. Mum's care is consistently good and she appreciates all that is done for her in personal care, practical help, emotional support and helping to keep her mentally stimulated. Mum doesn't like asking for help and it is difficult sometimes to be sure that she is getting sufficient fluids etc. as she is reluctant to ask or sometimes unable to buzz for help, as recently on her return from hospital. Residents' interaction with the Casa 'pets'; - rabbits, chinchillas and alpacas - is facilitated by the activity coordinators. With warmer weather and hopefully her improving health, it would be lovely for Mum to be wheeled into the garden for a change of scenery from her room as she is no longer mobile. Also, Casa ensures that its residents do not miss out on any major events like Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Mum moved into the home in January 2020. I was so pleased to find such a lovely place for her to live. The staff were excellent - caring, cheerful, friendly and professional. It was very reassuring to know Mum was receiving such good care, particularly as I lived over 200 miles away. Her room was beautiful, clean and welcoming. The facilities and activities were wonderful, I know Mum enjoyed them whilst she was able. She sadly passed away at the end of March. During Mum’s last few days all the staff went above and beyond to look after her. Treating her with dignity and respect, whilst also ensuring that myself and my daughter were given care and support during that difficult time. I am so very grateful that Mum was able to spend her last few years in such a place. I would like to say a big thank you to all the team - carers, nurses, activities staff, receptionists, management and cleaners with whom I had the pleasure of dealing with during Mum’s stay.
The continuing care my husband has received in Casa di Lusso Nursing Home is excellent. He is treated with dignity, care and respect. All the staff I have come into contact with are friendly, efficient and polite. I can only speak from the care and treatment I have witnessed for which I can't speak highly enough.
My sister has been in the Pisa unit for just over four and a half years, she has been very happy and I know felt loved and cared for during her time there. Sadly, she has no proper memory or words for conversations but she manages well, all because of the care, concern and thoughtfulness of the wonderful carers and management.
From first contact and continuing, we have received a warm and friendly welcome. When we have questions they are answered promptly and any abnormal events are reported to relatives. Care would appear to be ongoing and timely. We have confidence in the care and security for my wife. Activities coordinators do a great job.
My mother was accepted into the home late last year and, from the very beginning, the family were pleased with our choice for her. Initially, she enjoyed being able to go outside to view the animals and sometimes visit the coffee shop with family members. She receives very good care and any issues which occur with her health are dealt with and we are kept informed. The range of activities per month are very good and the staff are well used to Mum's individual personality and tastes, her likes and dislikes. The recent Jubilee was very well coordinated and all residents were encouraged to take part in a picnic outside, which was enjoyed by all. Mum has made one friend, who calls on her with her walker when she passes, and they sit together for lunch most days. We have arranged for the in-house chiropodist to attend to Mum's feet regularly but she prefers me to cut her hair.
My husband has been in the home for ten months. He settled in very quickly. He is happy with the way he is treated in all aspects of his care and that makes me happy.
Overall, this is an excellent home and they have looked after my father well. My only criticism is some nurses leave a cryptic voicemail, "call us as soon as you get this message", even when not urgent, causes relatives to worry. Please be clearer.
