View Full Details of Skylark HouseMy auntie went into Skylark House just under 3 years ago and her care has been amazing. The activities they do are great with something every day. Everyone is encouraged and the activities are fun and adapted to suit all. Skylark became my auntie's extended family and ours too. We loved visiting - the coffee shop is a lovely seating area to have coffee and cake with your loved one. From reception to office to care staff - everyone is so welcoming. Sadly my auntie has just passed away after a diagnoses of an aggressive cancer and her end of life palliative care was so reassuring for us. She was kept pain free and passed peacefully. The staff kept her as cheerful as they could and made sure all her needs were met every second of the day. When I visited they took care of my needs too making sure I was ok and offering me that much needed support. I recommend Skylark to anyone who needs to place an elderly relative into a care provider. They will definitely have an enhanced life, full of fun and can make such great new friendships. The rooms are bright and airy with en-suite facilities. The home has lovely sunny secure balconies on each floor for residents to sit out and enjoy the views of the garden. The well maintained garden is beautiful and they have events for all residents and their families, for example, summer parties and barbecues. The residents can take walks with staff or family around the garden on the safe paths. Lovely seating areas dotted around can be enjoyed in summer months. An excellent care home comes highly recommended by my auntie and her family. Thank you for everything especially to the team on the Nursing floor.
3 Months ago I entered Skylark House after a life-changing fall. I was met with tender care and concern by the staff. My hobby is painting, however, when my son died in 2023 I seemed unable to do it anymore. The incredible activities team have encouraged me to pick up a paintbrush again. I now paint portraits and I have a challenge and purpose each day. Walking back to my room the other day a resident collapsed, I called and within seconds staff and nurses came from every direction. She was given immediate treatment and is fine. The last 2 examples show the extent of Skylark's care.
Following a two week respite stay my mother chose to come to Skylark House as a permanent resident. She is very happy there and always busy doing one of the many activities on offer. All of the staff are hard working and caring. She now regards Skylark as her home.
A lovely care home, with nice staff, mostly, I think the food is very good, but possibly needs more suitability for those who struggle to feed themselves. Clean, very well presented. Adequate parking for visitors, good reception staff and managers. Nice carers and kept well informed. One point is the lack of ability to contact easily when reception is not manned. Needs more staff.
My relative only came into Skylark this Autumn. I cannot share enough how wonderful they have all been to her and our family. We've been made to feel like part of a very happy and warm little community. The Christmas season has been nothing short of magical, including the delicious family Xmas meal that we were invited to. Even when my relative was taken to hospital for a short while, she was welcomed back with such genuine affection and support. This care home was an amazing find and my relative has found fun and happiness in her life again!
I have visited a number of times since my granddad moved in at the start of this year, including several times in December. I have always been very impressed by how well run the home is, particularly at how engaged the staff are with the residents including my granddad. Staff are friendly and always have something for granddad to get involved in.
Skylark House has been an amazing care home for my dad. They have looked after him with great care and support. I feel he has enjoyed his time there with great entertainment put on for the residents on a regular basis. He eats well, good food they serve there. The tea room is a nice place to take my dad when we go and see him. They also have a fantastic garden which gives us the chance to take him outside when we like to. I would recommend Skylark to my family and friends
There is always a warm welcome when I visit Skylark House from the friendliness of the staff on reception to those working in my Mum's suite, who are very caring towards the residents. Her room is always very neat and tidy and, although we don't spend so much time in the coffee shop these days, it is a lovely relaxing communal space for socialising and entertainment. The updates and communication about her needs are excellent. I feel very reassured that she is being well cared for, especially when I am away with work and not able to visit as often as usual. I am very happy with Skylark House and have recommended the care home to several friends who have been looking at places for their loved ones.
I'm very happy with my dad being a resident at Skylark House. Not only is he just 5 minutes drive from my house, the care, quality of food and the staff's attention to my dad's individual needs are excellent. The range of daily activities is also varied and consistent which is also helped by the staff's diary of pictures showing my dad enjoying himself - This is important as his memory is non-existent due to his dementia. A particularly memorable event was the arrival of a herd of alpacas. The pictures of them being squeezed into the lift was hilarious.
My father is now a resident at Skylark House in the nursing Milland Suite since July 2024 after suffering a minor stroke and was previously in the Howard Suite. He is really happy and content even with his reduced mobility, this is down to the diligence and attentiveness of the caring staff within Milland and the extensive activities put on by the well-being team. On every visit, my father always compliments the staff and appreciates the range of. Activities that he gets involved with on a regular basis, due to liaison between the Suite staff and the well-being team really going the extra mile to get Dad involved. There is a definite link between the staff and management, with all of them working well together as a team. I believe my father is getting an excellent quality of life, due to the efforts of everyone within the team a skylark, and of course, enjoying the spacious house and accessible lovely gardens throughout the year. Thank you all so much.
In August my father went to Skylarks House for some respite while I was on holiday. After a two-week stay, he made the decision that he would like to remain. Despite being quite a surprise it also came as a relief due to his frailty and poor memory issues. I can only say that the reason he was happy to stay was due to the care and kindness that he received. The fabulous activities and workshops arranged each day and the delicious food probably helped too! The nursing side is faultless, any health concerns they have are dealt with immediately and I am always kept well informed. All the staff - managers, receptionists, nurses, carers, entertainment crew, housekeepers, laundry staff, and the very talented chef and his crew all do the most amazing job and with a smile! This all helps Skylarks House to be a wonderful place for your loved ones to stay and for relatives and friends to visit.
Skylark cares for my Mum brilliantly, at first Mum was unsettled because she was upset about losing her independence, but the team at Skylark has shown her respect, care, and kindness and has made a considerable effort in making life for Mum as fulfilling as it can be. I cannot praise the Skylark team highly enough they are so welcoming to residents and their families.
In the short time Mum was in Skylark House we felt she was treated with kindness and well cared for. We were kept well informed about her condition. The doctor was called as necessary and we felt that the staff were always doing their best for Mum.
My Father in Law (FIL) moved into Skylark in April 2024. My wife, mainly, and I visited a number of Care Homes and without doubt, in our opinion, Skylark offers top quality safety, security, meals, and extra events throughout the year e.g. musicians coming in, Summer BBQ, Sports Day, and much more. The entire staff that we interact with are great from reception through to the carers/ events team and Management. The recent 'family' Christmas Meal event was superb. My FIL appears happy, settled, and treated with respect/dignity, and is a great weight off my wife's mind. My wife visits, on average 6 days a week, due to it being local to us and I visit between 2/3 days a week.
This has been my first experience of a care home of which my husband is a resident from day one I have found everyone very caring and helpful the lengths they go to in providing the atmosphere needed to continue to live your life is first class and I can't praise them enough. Anyone thinking of a care home would not be disappointed with Skylark House.
We have had a very positive experience since Mum has been at Skylark House. Have been impressed with the level of communication from the nurses and care assistants especially in relation to Mum's medical matters. This has been very good as have been called a number of times with explanations regarding what is and will be happening for Mum. The carers have been very kind and Mum has settled well.
When I visited my grandad the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We went outside into the gardens which are lovely and well maintained and a great space to go outside. It is clear my grandad does lots of suitable and fun activities. The coffee area is a great space too for sitting to have a drink and play games with my grandad. Lovely care home!
Always a difficult decision to place a loved on into care, but after viewing several local homes, decided on Skylark, a main reason being the lovely, sizeable gardens. We find the staff highly friendly, approachable and seem genuinely caring in their various roles. They also give good communication and updates as to how Mum has been with eating and socialising etc. We visit regularly and find teh staff always engaging with the residents in the lounges. The home is well maintained and clean with a good choice of meals. As a point to note, I never give 10/10 score as I feel all businesses/companies can strive to improve, even if they are scoring high.
A home with a very caring and relaxed atmosphere. The activities generated are generally superb and motivate even the most disabled residents. Some of the visiting musicians are generally good but some should be aware of the age group of the people they are entertaining. The staff from senior management to all other members are kind, thoughtful generally efficient and create an atmosphere of friendship, security and from a relatives point of view a family atmosphere.
Dad has settled in very well. He is very well looked after and the staff are all very caring. Everywhere always appears to be very clean and tidy. A good variety of activities too. I am very pleased we chose Skylark House as Dad's home. The food appears to be very good. We have all enjoyed a summer BBQ a the home today which was very well organised. Thank you.
