View Full Details of Nelson LodgeMy mum has been at Nelson Lodge for just over a year. I cannot speak highly enough of the loving care she receives. Nothing is too much trouble and there is always happy residents in all areas of the home. I would recommend Nelson Lodge to anyone I am their biggest supporter.
Nelson Lodge staff are all amazing, approachable, great with residents and very caring. Plenty of things to do for residents that can.
Dad is well looked after by friendly, caring staff. He always seems happy, clean, etc. There are a range of activities going on.
My experience of Nelson Lodge is excellent. Very good caring staff, always friendly and cheerful. Very good facilities, especially the bathroom. Always clean. The food is generally good, with a good choice. Also, snacks and drinks throughout the day. I would like to see my mother join in more when activities are available.
My mother's service went ahead yesterday, and as you might well imagine, it was quite an emotional occasion. What really helped were the number of Nelsons Lodge care staff who attended. It was clear to us all that, just by their attendance, my mum, our Nan and great nan, was indeed very much loved, and that realisation brought much needed warmth in our hearts, on what was such a cold day. Some years ago, when we selected Nelson's Lodge for my mother's care, we really had no concept of the quality of care she would receive. We have often reflected on this, and whilst I doubt we would see kindness as a criteria on a CV, it is clear to us that you and your staff went the extra mile in making the final years of my mother's life as good as it could ever be. For this, we are most grateful.
My aunt spent the final year and a half of her life at Nelson Lodge. With the onset of dementia, her last few years, through no fault of her own, were not an easy time for her. When it became clear that she could no longer continue to live in her own home finding a suitable alternative became an urgent necessity. Her family were very pleased to find in Nelson Lodge a safe haven for her where she was well cared for and looked after. On my very last visit to see her, I was impressed and, indeed, moved to find the manager of the home herself doing her best, in the most caring way, to persuade my aunt to get out of bed and have a shower. Whilst she was not, regrettably, successful, this confirmed in my mind that any organisation is only as good as its leadership and that Nelson Lodge is exceptionally well-led. I am happy to recommend Nelson Lodge.
I felt my mother's individual needs were taken into consideration and she was allowed as much autonomy as was practically possible. The staff were relaxed and friendly and there to facilitate whatever my mother wanted to do or help her to be where she wanted to be. Although Nelson Lodge is a large facility, it is zoned so that each area feels small enough to feel like home and the same familiar faces were seen each day. Her room had a door onto an outside space which is essential for someone who loves to be outside whenever possible.
A brilliantly run place with unbelievable staff. Made my mother's experience very welcome and feel part of the Nelson Lodge family. I have also been well informed about her progress including ups and downs.
My dad moved into Nelson Lodge in late May and I have never met a more caring group of people. My Mum says everyone smiles all the time, staff and residents which is true. The staff learn your name so quickly and this makes a big difference, a bit like a large family. The attention to detail regarding meds, medical care, doctors and district nurses is superb. This is particularly useful to me as I care for my Mum and feel totally confident I can trust this great team to look after my Dad.
This is not my first experience with Nelson Lodge, I used to care for my elderly neighbour who I placed here. The whole team were caring, professional and very friendly. There was nothing too much for any of the staff! Now my mother-in-law is here and nothing has changed, the staff are still excellent. They make the resident's stay here a safe, enjoyable and friendly experience. I would highly recommend Nelson Lodge to anyone wanting care for their relative.
My mum has been at Nelson Lodge for three years and has sometimes been difficult but the staff have been amazing and all very caring with my mum. Everyone is welcoming and very helpful with any questions that I may have and they will always let me know how Mum is, with calls and emails.
We can't thank Nelson Lodge enough for the care and attention the team have given Dad. The building itself and rooms and decor are in desperate need of refurbishment but that is quickly forgotten due to the amazing team they have. Dad isn't an easy person to please and he has high praise for the team. Decor is secondary when it comes to care standards. The team are very natural with the residents, befriending them, which we feel goes a long way to reassuring residents who have anxiety needs that arise from Dementia and Alzheimer's. Thank you everyone.
My friend was isolated in her own home. Since making the decision to move to Nelson Lodge she has gained a new group of friends, has company, feels safe and has a newfound zest for life. The care staff work so hard, very friendly nothing is too much trouble. The activities have improved this past month, the manager always has time for a chat and their team work hard to constantly strive to evolve and grow. The receptionist is so welcoming and the home always has a good feel about it, lots of laughter, singing and dancing.
My aunt was here for just over four years. We were happy with Nelson Lodge and the staff in every way.
My mum has settled in very well. She loves it and it's the best thing she has done in a while. She gets great support and care. The food is superb (so she says). She has a laugh with all carers and loves a chat. My family are always made welcome and the staff are very friendly.
I have worked as a carer in care homes and find Nelson Lodge to be generally very good. Staff are always friendly and helpful but the resident I visit would like to see the same faces all the time realistically we know this is not possible, everyone is entitled to a day off. The food is very good but sometimes it's not to the resident's personal taste which is why it is marked down. Value for money, resident think it's expensive but I have worked in more expensive homes. As with all new experiences, there is a learning curve for residents and staff alike, the aim should be to meet halfway this being done successfully. I am no longer in the care industry due to retirement.
A wonderful care home with wonderful staff always very helpful and friendly. The utmost care is taken to all residents and whenever I have visited the home is spotlessly clean. I am very happy my mother is in Nelson Lodge and I thank everyone there for their great service.
My mother has been a resident at Nelson Lodge for over 4 years and has been very happy there. The carers have done a great job in looking after her and have made extra efforts to ensure that her needs are met.
Mum came to Nelson Lodge for respite care for three weeks. Having been before for respite Mum looked forward to returning and was not disappointed in any way. The accommodation met her needs and the team moved items/bed to suit her - and were happy to do so. The food was of a high standard and was adapted with ease to suit her dietary needs. The care staff are amazing, happy, helpful and very caring. Well managed and missed when not there. Mum is looking forward to returning.
My grandfather stayed at Nelson Lodge for respite. As a nurse, I immediately felt comfortable that the management was competent and knowledgable and the care staff so kind and caring. My grandfather loved his stay and felt at home. We will certainly be using the home again in May this year. The home has a warm, friendly feel to it, and nothing was too much trouble, and everyone always had a smile on their faces. Highly recommended.
