Specialist Dementia Care, Thirkhill Drive, Pannal, Harrogate, HG3 1FE
View Full Details of Vida GrangeMy father has Alzheimer's dementia which requires 24-hour nursing care. My family were so relieved when our father was accepted and admitted to Vida Grange. He had specialist needs on admission which other places were not able to meet. Since he has been in Vida Grange his needs have been fully met. My dad is settled and happy there. He is cared for to the highest standard. The staff have true leaders and the team are a team. I am very grateful for the support the team provide to my family. I am a GP and understand what challenges and needs people with dementia have and Vida Grange manage them all excellently.
My mum has lived at Vida Grange for over 5 years now. I am so glad we found Vida. Having had a raft of very bad experiences with the first care home she went to, we were all pretty traumatised. The team have been amazing over the years. It is wonderful to see that Mum is loved and cared for. When I am away, I know she is in safe, competent and caring hands, in a place she feels at home.
After a period in hospital, my wife was admitted to Vida Grange in Harrogate in early 2023. This was a period of great uncertainty and worry for us, however, my wife settled quickly and has remained so for the months she has been a resident there. She is exceptionally well cared for, always clean, warm, well fed and enjoys one to one care through her waking hours. The staff in Montpellier house are fantastic with her, meeting her every need as it arises. Although those needs are complex and increasingly challenging, they are always professional, but always go about their work with a smile and good humour. I consider myself and my wife to be fortunate to have found such a wonderful home for her.
1)The ethos of Vida Healthcare is tailoring care for each resident & their individual personal needs. 2)They provide detailed training to every employee before they start any face-to-face contact. They develop the knowledge & understanding of different presentations of dementia. 3)The carers are committed & caring and supported by a management team passionate about delivering the best care possible. 4) The management team are responsive to the needs & concerns of relatives. Detail is important to enhance good care.
Excellent care home...my mum has been at Vida Grage Care Home for over a year now and I am more than happy with the care she has received. It is clean, friendly and the care she receives is above and beyond any other care home that she has been in. Nothing is too much trouble and it has a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere feeling more like a home rather than a care home. The meals are plentiful and good quality with snacks and treats in between. The staff have compassion and understanding and most importantly, they allow family members to have a voice and opinion about their loved one's care and will do everything possible to meet their needs and requests. Mum is in her happy place now with no anxiety or stress and the staff adore her, she is content and settled thanks to Vida Grange. She loves her room and also her Vida Grange family and I cannot thank them enough.
Staff are always polite, helpful and attentive. Nursing is taken seriously at Vida Grange Care Home. We are kept up to date with our mother's requirements and care. Our input towards decisions is considered which makes us feel valued and still part of our mum's life.
Vida Grange Care Home is amazing. The level of care is brilliant, the staff are so good, nothing is too much trouble, so patient. Vida Grange is purpose-built, a modern building, but still feels like home. Vida is so unlike many other care homes which tend to be converted old buildings which are not suited to the needs of residents. At Vida all the rooms are en-suite, there’s a continuous walkway around each of the units so no dead ends to cause upset, the food is amazing and the patients are treated as residents, almost family. The staffing ratio is much better than other care homes, with a full-time nurse and several carers. After two failed placements in other care homes, my wife settled here really quickly, she has a lot of personal needs and is not mobile. All her needs are catered for. Best care home.
My husband has only been at Vida Grange Care Home since October but the care he is receiving is excellent. The staff are so understanding, kind and gentle. It is very heartwarming to see the way they are with the residents. Nothing is too much trouble from reception, catering, laundry and the carers.
I would like to highly recommend Vida Grange as an excellent specialist dementia care home. My husband has been at this facility since May of this year to the present day and I have found all of the staff from reception, maintenance, kitchen, laundry, cleaners, well-being, carers, nurses and administration staff, of a very high standard of caring and professionalism. A big thank you to all of you, for a job well done by each and every one of you.
The care my brother is receiving from Vida Grange is second to none. The staff who look after my brother are very professional and always take time to make sure that he is comfortable, included and part of the Vida family! He is happy and settled, despite his condition and is always keen to engage with the staff. Their love and support for him and his family, has made both my brother’s and our lives significantly better and I can recommend them as a beacon of excellence in this area. Thank you, Vida!
The patience and care shown by the staff is exemplary. They manage to diffuse difficult situations and still keep cheerful. Although my husband is a messy eater etc, he is always clean and tidy. There are activities for the residents most days and team talk, which provides family and friends with information and keeps us updated. If your loved one is very sadly unfortunate enough to require dementia and other care, this is the place for them.
Deciding to place my husband in care has been the worst time and decision of my life, but has been made so much more bearable by everyone at Vida and I am comforted knowing he is receiving the very best care. From the very first day, he has settled in well and the care and support shown to him, and me overwhelms me. Vida Healthcare really are first class dementia care providers.
Vida is in a completely different league to all other home's I visited. Smaller units within the home make it more intimate and secure for the residents. The quality of staff training and development of their understanding with regards to dementia is amazing. Also, the staff ratio to residents is much higher than most other homes. Food quality, is also excellent, nothing is skimped in their service. I cannot speak highly enough of Vida.
Prior to becoming a resident at Vida Grange a year ago, my father had experienced dementia care in 4 other local care facilities in North Yorkshire. None of those facilities came anywhere near the quality of care he is now receiving. Although the restricted visiting during the pandemic has been difficult for him, the staff and the family, I know that since going to Vida Grange, his physical health issues have been closely monitored and improved. The individual caring approach and mental stimulation from regular activities means he also seems much calmer and happier. The communication from the management team and day to day carers is head and shoulders above other care homes we have experienced, both in terms of content and delivery, especially the use of online technology to communicate during the pandemic. I no longer get phone calls advising me of falls or incidents and the relief and reassurance that he is now being cared for properly, as he deserves to be, for me is priceless.
My mother has been a resident in Vida Grange for the last 18 months. She has complex needs and can be very challenging. Despite this, the staff initially managed to improve my mother’s quality of life enormously. Her care needs have now increased and are more complex. They continue to treat her with dignity and care. The senior staff are incredibly skilled and support me too. I don’t believe there is another care home which could meet my mother’s health needs living with advanced dementia.
My husband is living with Alzheimer's and the last couple of years have been particularly difficult and challenging for the both of us. Thankfully he is now a resident in Waterside at Vida Grange and at last I have total peace of mind in the knowledge that he is receiving the best possible care. All the management and staff who I have been in contact with have been so kind and considerate to the both of us and he seems to be settling in as well as can be expected. Thank you all so much.
I can’t speak highly enough of Vida Grange. We couldn’t ask for any better care for my husband. Every member of staff I’ve met or spoken to, have instilled me with confidence that this is the right place for him, despite our long drive.
My father suffers from Young Onset Dementia and after multiple nursing home placement failures from so called ‘Dementia & Challenging Behaviour Specialists’ and the belief that my father was unmanageable (as they told us multiple times), we finally found Vida Grange. Dad has been there just over two months with virtually no issues, compared to previous homes where we would be getting multiple daily phone calls with issues and problems. Vida Grange really know how to deal with complex behaviours, they truly understand dementia and the person behind it. My Dad is being treated as he, deserves - with love and respect. They keep us updated regularly via their Vida app and weekly family meetings. We have no complaints and would recommend them to anyone. We have found no other care home that can come close to them, even with us having to travel 1.5 hours.
Due to recent staff changes and increased agency use, the basic care like wearing a short-sleeved polo shirt sat in front of an open window in Oct/Nov means the basic need for warmth is not being met. Dad has mixed dementia so I find it strange and worrying that some care staff ask him to remember things as they know he can't. Dads response is to raise his hand to his face looks sad. Feel initial fantastic review needed updating as we move forward.
My wife has been in Harlow Carr house at Vida Grange for over 2 years. I give full marks to the way the home is run and must emphasise that the home is nothing without the right staff. The care staff on Harlow Carr are so kind and loving; I am full of admiration for the way they look after my wife and the way they treated me when I visited. Life for me is not easy as I have not been able to hold my wife for over 7 months and this has an effect on both of us. I know it is necessary and Vida must abide by the rules but pray it will end soon.
