View Full Details of Wisteria House Dementia Care (Plymstock)From the very first day, the staff could not have been better in making Mum feel safe, looking after her care and needs. The activities they do are awesome! It has been lovely after Covid to get to see the staff working together to make sure the residents feel happy and relaxed. I feel so happy that Mum is there and wouldn't put her anywhere else.
It is an extremely hard decision putting your Mum into a home. So finding one that was going to be the next "perfect" home for Mum seemed like it was going to be an impossible task. Until we found Wisteria! Wow, I am blown away by everything about it. The accommodation is outstanding; I feel like I am visiting my mum in her home, rather than visiting her in an old people's home. It is homely and spotlessly clean, but above all, the staff are all incredible. There are not enough words to describe how amazing they all are.
Mum has stayed twice for respite and stats for several hours one day a week. I would not want her to stay anywhere else. The staff are so kind and dedicated, often having fun and themed events for the residents. I am so thankful for their love and devotion. Wisteria House is such a happy haven; you feel it as soon as you walk in.
Whenever I have visited the home, I watch staff actively engage with all residents. Everyone is dressed and looking smart. The home puts on activities most days and encourages families to still be part of their loved one's life. They are always approachable to discuss any issues and keep you fully informed of how they are eating, sleeping, etc. Staff are kind, rooms are good, and it is like a family home. Feel very lucky to have my family here and glad we found them.
All staff are so friendly and the residents are treated like members of a large family. Always have time for them however busy they are. Very good activities which often include family members. Cannot rate them highly enough.
From the moment you/I walk into the care home, you feel welcome and the atmosphere is happy and calm. The residents look happy and content. The staff are attentive to their individual needs. If I have any worries or concerns over my mother, I either ring or email the care manager and it gets dealt with and I hear back usually within twenty-four hours, mainly sooner. The staff have activity days i.e. seaside/Caribbean days. The family was invited to join in the Jubilee celebrations.
Wisteria House Dementia Care (Plymstock) really is a true care home. Dad has settled in extremely well and a lot quicker than we expected. All the staff treat the residents with the utmost care, respect, friendliness and kindness. We are always made very welcome when visiting and we are invited to join Dad on trips out and celebrations.
A perfect example of what a good nursing/residential home should be. Everything you could possibly need is available with wonderful professional staff who are always happy to please and care for the residents. The home's ability to make everyone's day enjoyable is paramount. Each day there are activities and day trips whenever possible. It is impossible to praise this home any further. We feel extremely lucky to have found you.
Mum has been in Wisteria House for a few weeks and it has been excellent. Staff have done everything to help her settle in and she is always saying how wonderful they are. Nothing is too much trouble and they work really hard to make sure everyone is happy. What a wonderful place.
My sister is at Wisteria House Dementia Care and I have observed her care. A special event especially describes her care, The Platinum Jubilee party! Watching the way all the staff engaged with the residents and all their individual needs, reassurance and interactions during the party, including the visitors was amazing. Amazing entertainment from all the staff, encouraging residents and families to take part too! Amazing food, care and atmosphere. Many events and activities. Wonderful.
Wisteria House Dementia Care (Plymstock) is simply fantastic! From the moment the residents enter the home they are made to feel very special. It quite literally is home from home. The staff all make the residents feel like family and often give them cuddles. The food and accommodation are amazing, everything is home-cooked. I would without question recommend this home and give it a 5-star review.
My mum is receiving excellent care - staff show such dedication and patience with my mum. Mum is treated with such dignity. Staff I feel treat mum as one of their own relatives! Nothing is too much trouble. Have attended workshops where I have been shown how to understand the world my mum is living in - this has made me understand more about dementia. Activities are held at Wisteria - music/craft/silent disco - residents are encouraged to join in and members of the family! Excellent care home would recommend them highly. Thank you Wisteria.
My aunt has been a resident for over 2 years and I have nothing but praise for the staff at Wisteria House. They have managed my aunts increasing loss of memory with kindness and understanding. They always treat me brilliantly when I visit and I leave happy in the knowledge that my aunt is safe, warm, well-fed, entertained and cared for.
I have been delighted by the Wisteria House facility and staff over the last 12 months; my wife spends two 1/2 day stays per week. The good humour, professionalism and care of my wife and other guests is of a very high and consistent level. The staff are ably lead by the home manager, who shows great interest and care for both her staff and residents. The food, prepared on-site, is of a very high standard and very varied, plus well presented. Assistance to my wife during meals ensures that she eats adequately. Entertainment is varied and imaginative and the staff ensure everyone participates to their limit of their capacity. It is wonderful to see the joy written on all their faces. I feel fortunate that Wisteria exists, as does my wife.
All of the staff are so kind and caring to my mum. At this difficult time in her and our lives, I am very confident Mum is looked after so well at Wisteria. I pop in at all sorts of time and different times of the week, and she is always clean, tidy and as happy as she can be, given the dementia, and her nursing needs. There are all sorts of things going on, and the staff are always visible with the residents.
My dad has Alzheimer's and it was with great reluctance that the family agreed he needed to be in residential care. As a family, Wisteria House in Hooe, have supported not only dad but also us as a family to make the transition into care. They care for dad as a person with his own unique needs, respecting and treating him as a human being, taking careful risks to ensure he can maintain skills and keep his dignity and self esteem. They have supported us, helping us to better understand dads disease and its management. I wish all residential settings were like this. Their commitment to all the residents is exemplary and inspiring.
During the twelve months plus that I have been a regular visitor to Wisteria House, I always found the atmosphere warm, friendly and a proper 'home from home'. The residents were treated in a respectful and loving manner, with nothing being too much trouble for the staff to help with or provide. Having visited many homes over the years, Wisteria is the only one that I would recommend.
I regularly visit the home with my wife when she sees her Sister. Each time I visit I am made to feel welcome by all members of staff and I really enjoy the feel good atmosphere that exists in the home. Having previous experience of visiting other care homes during my role as Merchant Navy Welfare Officer I can truly say that the home sets a high standard with regard to residents welfare, their food is both nutritious and plentiful and snacks and drinks are freely available to both visitors and residents.
My Sister has been in the home since it opened in March 2017. Each time I visit I feel I am entering her family home as everybody that works there makes you feel you are part of their family. All the staff go out of their way to engage with the residents making each day as interesting as possible with various entertainments and activities. Although the residents may have dementia their quality of life is enhanced. The home provides them with the love and care at their most vulnerable time of life giving them a safe environment ensuring peace of mind for their relatives this is why I would recommend the home to anybody needing a care home.
A really lovely atmosphere with very caring staff. They have a wide range of activities to suit all tastes. Relatives are always made to feel very welcome and are encouraged to take part in the activities or share a meal with their loved ones. The house is beautifully clean and decorated with thought to the residents differing needs and levels of dementia. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. I can’t recommend Wisteria House highly enough....such a lovely place!!
