All the staff at Kingsclear are friendly, helpful, and kind, both to residents and visitors. Communication relating to Mum's needs and care planning is very good. I feel confident that Mum is well cared for and safe, so I am pleased that we have been able to make Kingsclear Mums home.
My dad has just benefited from a second stay at Kingsclear. He last stayed for a week's respite in July and this time it was very last minute as we had a family medical emergency and so needed him to be cared for at short notice. The manager responded very quickly to our request and my dad was very happy to have another stay at Kingsclear. The staff were so welcoming and my dad was amazed and delighted that so many of the staff remembered him! As a family, we felt very happy knowing that all his needs were met. He has Parkinson's and has quite a regime of medication but this was all dealt with very professionally by a particular staff member. My dad loves his food and had nothing but praise for all his meals and we, as a family, felt that the refreshment station provided in reception was a lovely touch and made it more like meeting in a coffee shop, than a facility! Kingsclear is a lovely place with great grounds and kind and caring staff!
Since my Mum became a resident in January 2024. I have nothing but praise for Kingsclear. All of the team I deal with are very friendly, keep me informed, and provide a superb level of care for her.
Poor communication between different shifts and teams, requests have to be placed several times, this is probably due to a language barrier or staffing. General awareness of some teams are missing. Other teams are brilliant and requests are managed straight away.
My parents have both been in the care home for a few years now and we have been very pleased with the care and support they have both received but even more so yesterday when my father passed away. The nurses and staff were absolutely amazing! So very kind, caring, and considerate to my father, and even though he wasn't conscious they were talking to him telling him what they were doing, and being very gentle with him. They were also so kind and supportive to us siblings and even more so once my father passed. Their compassion was very touching and I couldn't have wished for my father to have been in any better care. So a big thank you to all who were involved, you brought light to our very dark day.
Since moving my Mother-in-law to Kingsclear her life has changed dramatically. Before, she would not be encouraged to leave her bed or take part in any activities. The staff didn't really even get to know her as a person. Within 3 days of being at Kingsclear she has had a shower, taken part in arts and crafts, made lots of new friends and has a new lease of life. The staff has been absolutely amazing. All so friendly and genuinely lovely. She hasn't once mentioned her old flat (which used to be daily before). I can't thank everyone enough for all they have done, even just in the last two months. The food is also delicious!
We visited our friend for coffee and was pleasantly surprised at how really comfortable and beautifully furnished it was. The staff were very helpful and we were made welcomed and enjoyed a very pleasant coffee morning with our friend, who seems very happy there.
My mum has been at Kingsclear for over a year now and she has gone from strength to strength. Very happy with the care provided and she has made many friends. The care team go above and beyond. The home is very clean with a very warm atmosphere.
I cannot express how wonderful this care home is, we feel very lucky to have our family member at this home. All staff are so friendly and very attentive. What makes it even more special is nothing is too much trouble.
Lovely, large rooms, clean, light and airy. Day staff are excellent, sometimes agency staff at night are less experienced.
My elderly mother was very poorly and went into Kingsclear initially for respite. She was made to feel very welcome by all the staff, so much so, she decided to stay. She has a beautiful room, the carers are amazing and the food is so good, that she has put on some weight at last. The fee is standard for this area, but Kingsclear beats the competition with the extras they lay on such as the activities and the bistro. As a relative, we are also welcomed into the fold by staff and residents alike. My mother is very happy there and the stress of worrying if she is ok on a daily basis has been alleviated. As a family, we are all extremely happy with the whole package and would not hesitate to recommend them.
When my mother entered Kingsclear, she was very poorly, following an operation and period of time in hospital. Immediately the staff made her feel welcome and cared for. She had lost weight in the period up to arriving at the home but with the impressive menu choices she has regained strength and energy. The nursing care from the outset has been amazing, with everyone being kind and considerate. Her room is very light and beautiful with access to outside which has aided her healing and recovery. The outside space is a wonderful addition to the home and sets it apart from some of the other homes we looked at. The Bistro area at the entrance to the building is light and airy and provides space for conversation and relaxation with relatives and friends.
It was difficult to keep track of meal times because of shift changes and different methods of communication. I found the medical staff seemed to be more interested in complying with rules and regulations than practical matters and there was a lack of coordination among these members. The exception was the nurse who cleared a blockage in my catheter, although I was unable to establish whether she was staff or agency.
I can't express how pleased and grateful we are as a family to have been able to get my husband into Kingsclear. At first, we weren't sure if they had space or could satisfy his complex needs. We needn't have worried! He is content, fairly happy (he has dementia so it does impact that), so well looked after and well fed! He is safe which is so reassuring. He has an abundance of activities etc, which he is encouraged to join in.
My mother has been in for respite and she is settling well. The home is welcoming, beautifully furnished and the staff and carers have been more than helpful. It is highly likely that Mum will stay with this home permanently, as a family we are all very happy with this decision.
A close family friend moved into Kingsclear at the end of last year. She was really reluctant about the idea of moving into a home to start with. However the management were helpful and reassuring that she is going to be in good hands. And she is! Over the months that she has been there, I have noticed that she has become a lot happier, despite all the age-related challenges. She has become more social and even made new friends! The overall atmosphere feels great and there are different activities available each day. My friend has only said positive things about the home, staff and food!
The staff at Kingsclear could not be any more welcoming. My mum was nervous about moving in but she has settled very well thanks to the kindness and consideration that she always receives. I would definitely recommend this care home.
My mum has been a resident for about 18 months. She is very happy here. She has her own little garden on the ground floor which she loves. The staff are very kind and considerate. There are lots of activities going on for all likes. Relatives are welcome to visit anytime and take their relatives out for the day. The manager is very hands-on and is well-liked by everyone.
Excellent service from start to finish. My friend really enjoyed her week of respite at Kingsclear and is considering applying to stay longer term. The staff were great in dealing with us on arrival and departure.
My mother and father have been here for 4 months. The staff have been excellent in helping them to settle and have quickly picked up on how to manage their needs. Management are very approachable and are very aware of what is going on within the home. I would highly recommend Kingsclear.
