View Full Details of Tonbridge House Care HomeWhere to start after so many brilliant reviews echoing what my 92 year old mother, my family and I have experienced here. Mum has needed our care for the past 10 years at home with the last two years being really tough. She's been chair-bound since 2022, needing hoists and is now in the grips of dementia. She sat in her chair all day unable even to watch tv anymore and cried. I was burnt out. Walking into Tonbridge House Care Home without an appointment, I was immediately welcomed, listened to, briefed on what care would involve and then shown round this fresh modern happy place. I looked at 5 other homes but Tonbridge House stood out from the start. Mum received the same welcome when she moved in with the cheery compassionate staff responding to her anxieties and unique personality. The quality of care, meals and activities have transformed Mum. We are always welcome during our frequent visits and the staff care as much about us as my mother. Nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Staff at Tonbridge House are skilled, knowledgeable, and also very caring, kind, and compassionate. It is very touching and humbling to see. Those on the first floor, with residents with dementia, have a good understanding of the challenges this condition brings and make every effort to support people to be as independent as possible and to listen and respond to them in a friendly and appropriate way. My mother arrived there from the hospital, quite weak and unable to walk, but with gentle support from the staff, she was able to get back on her feet and regain some of her independence. The catering staff also do a great job, preparing lovely meals and treats. Residents and their families can also go to the nice cafe on the ground floor or out into the pretty garden. Many engaging and fun events are arranged by the Events team, which bring a lot of joy and entertainment. Praise is also due to the friendly reception staff and those keeping residents' rooms and clothes so nice.
The minute we walked through the doors at Tonbridge house we were made very welcoming a lovely calm atmosphere. During my husband's stay on floor one the whole team showed empathy, patience and smiling. The rooms are lovely not too complicated for my husband who has Alzheimer's. The activities are very good at stimulating the brain. I would certainly recommend anyone putting their loved ones here to give it a try I will certainly return for more respite for my husband and I know he will be warm safe and happy also less worry for me.
Dad was bereaved in May and by July it was clear he was becoming quite isolated in his supported living apartment. We looked at many care homes in the Tonbridge area and narrowed it down to two. Dad immediately chose Tonbridge House - liking the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. We were told it would take him 2 - 3 weeks before he started to feel at all at home. In the event within days he was saying how much happier he is. The manager of Tonbridge House went out of his way to connect with Dad and resolve a few initial frustrations. Dad has loved the activity programme - especially a recent boat trip which he so enjoyed he took up a spare place for a second trip the following day. He really likes the food (though he claims there is too much of it!). And he is already forming a strong bond with the staff and other residents. We could not have hoped for a more encouraging start to this latest chapter of his life. Thank you to the entire Tonbridge House team!
Having had an accident, I needed respite care for a month which was provided at Tonbridge House. Every aspect of my care was given with kindness and efficiency. In particular, dietary needs were catered for with great understanding and success by the chef and his staff. If for any reason I need help again I would gladly put myself in the hands of the Tonbridge House team. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you.
My 94-year-old father moved into Tonbridge House after the loss of my Mum in May of this year. The staff were just great in accommodating Dad at fairly short notice and have made him so welcome. The other residents have too. He has lots of stimulation and loads to do. They struggled to get a space which would allow storage for his mobility scooter but are trying to sort that out too. In terms of value, it is not cheap but you get what you pay for in my opinion. The whole place has a nice happy vibe. We couldn't be more pleased.
From the moment we entered the care home we were met with warmth, compassion and friendliness and made to feel part of the family environment they promote. My mother was well looked after by a very caring and professional team that met her every need. The standard of food was very good, and the chef (with short notice) gave us a wonderful buffet lunch for a surprise party for my mother. Thank you all so much at Tonbridge House Care Home.
My aunty and her family had the most amazing time. The staff, the food and the way the room was laid out were so welcoming and friendly. I cannot thank the catering team enough, it was wonderful and to see my aunt so happy, made my day. Thanks, thanks and thanks again.
The home is amazing, activities are so good, always celebrating a special day they really do push the boat out. They celebrated Mother’s Day and the food they provided was amazing the staff really involved everyone.
We celebrated my mother's 90th Birthday today in the function room at the home. The catering staff had gone above and beyond in preparing a meal and party food for our family. It was beautifully presented and it is hard to imagine how it could have been better. We were offered any assistance we might need by very helpful staff. Well done!
I was an ex-employee of the home, we cared for my dad at home until it was not suitable. As a family, we decided to choose the home and it was not easy but I knew the staff cared for the client and the families. My dad had dementia and nursing needs so he was put on the second floor where he would get all the care he needed. My dad was not the easiest but he always smiled. We, sadly, lost our dad and the care he received over the last few weeks was just above and beyond. I must thank the head nurse, three members of staff and the nurse who was on when my dad passed, she sat with us and held his hand and a tear in her eye. It was peaceful and calm with a song in the background. The night nurse who was on the weekend also made us feel at peace and we stayed until midnight on the Saturday. The deputy manager was also amazing support. Thanks.
We have enjoyed a fabulous Christmas lunch in a homely dining room setting at Penshurst Floor Tonbridge House. Thank you for the excellent service and caring attention. Five-star service. It has made Christmas for us to enable us to share lunch with our Mum without stress for her.
It was so incredibly special to be able to eat a wonderful meal together with Dad in the private dining room. All the courses we requested were delicious, the table was decorated beautifully and the chefs were friendly and generous. Thank you very, very much.
The decision to move a loved one into the care of a provider can never be an easy one but Tonbridge House have done everything they possibly could to support both my dad and our family through the transition. He is well cared for by kind and attentive staff and we are kept well informed. We are greeted like friends by staff when we visit and thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful family lunch in the private dining room recently, which was really special and a great touch. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience so far.
Every member of staff are really friendly and welcoming and can't do enough to support you. Special thanks to the team in Scotney as they have been amazing with my mum and I. I have been given clear support and guidance, and a hug when needed. They are efficient and friendly ensuring my mum has had her needs met at every turn.
My aunt needed emergency respite care after a fall. The Tonbridge House team were responsive and supportive and were able to assess her and find her a bed within 24 hours. The care home was lovely - her room - light and airy, the staff - kind, professional, supportive, and enabling of her - the atmosphere is light, sociable, and friendly. We enjoyed the cafe and the lovely gardens when we visited. Sadly, my aunt deteriorated rapidly and needed palliative care. We were so fortunate to have staff with palliative care experience on hand and her final hours were made comfortable and peaceful. In the last few months, I have had to visit and support a number of relatives in care homes in the home counties, and I would say that Tonbridge House is by far the best care home I have had experience of. Many thanks to the excellent team there.
Mum has been a resident at Tonbridge House Care Home since February 2023 and my family are very impressed with the quality of her dementia care. There seems to be a good ratio of staff to residents at all times, all of whom are very kind and understanding of her needs. The facilities are great, the rooms are very modern and clean, and the entertainment and activities staff are caring and motivated to engage in a positive and friendly way to the residents.
Thank you for your care, your attention and for making this Care Home home! Nothing is ever too much trouble either for me caring at a distance and managing the business side of affairs for my aunt, who is now so much part of this home. Thank you for being such an amazing team who befriended the scones and front of house.
The care given to my mother fills me with confidence for her well being. The variety of activities is excellent and the leisure staff work tremendously hard to ensure that she has an enriched living experience. The care staff treat her with respect and dignity and go out of their way to ensure her needs are met. As a family we have an excellent relationship with all staff,. The staff member on reception is always welcoming and friendly.
I visited this home to see a friend of mine for over 50 years. Very good in every way.
