View Full Details of Royal Star & Garter - High WycombeMy sister and I are very pleased with the amazing service provided by Royal, Star & Garter, High Wycombe in caring for our elderly mother, who suffers from dementia and serious mobility issues. The staff have gone out of their way to keep her safe, comfortable, and happy since the day she moved in, almost a year ago. Her health and well-being have improved and she is now fully settled in. She is very fond of the caring staff, loves the food, and enjoys the garden. The staff tries very hard to accommodate us, whatever our requests and the fact that Mum is safe and happy at RSG gives us great peace of mind. I would highly recommend RSG to anyone considering permanent care for an elderly relative.
Two members of staff, in particular, are absolutely marvellous supporting my mum with day care. My mother thoroughly enjoys the activities and chatting with other service users. Mum enjoys all the activities; painting, movement to music, and cards and she loves the day trips.
My Husband attends Dementia Day Care weekly and we also attend bi-weekly Lunch Club together. The attention to care for both these events is excellent and could not be better. The staff are enthusiastic, caring and helpful. At both these events the food is nutritious, options are also given, and portion size is perfect. I think every detail is taken into consideration. Have only good things to say about Royal Star and Garter.
The care my husband gets from the day care staff is totally outstanding in every way. He gets a big welcome when he arrives. Staff respond to him very well. They are all very kind and helpful and very good fun.
My father moved into Royal Star and Garter in High Wycombe six weeks ago and has settled in amazingly well. He was very hesitant about leaving his own home but loved his room overlooking the garden. His room is very spacious, absolutely spotless, and very comfortable. The staff are so friendly, kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I have joined Dad for lunch and it really is like fine dining. I would like to send my very grateful thanks to everyone, staff, and volunteers who make this home exceptional and of a very high standard.
My husband had been a resident for 15 months at The Royal Star and Garter and he was very happy there. Everyone at this home is kind and considerate - nothing too much trouble. I have nothing but praise for them. The Home is lovely and friendly - a pleasant place to be.
Building is spotless. Staff are lovely and professional.
I could not be more pleased with this care home; it is outstanding. As a retired clinician, I have visited many homes in my working life. I was dismayed when my husband's dementia became too difficult to continue home caring. At Royal Star and Garter he is very happy and well cared for by cheerful, smiling, competent, caring and welcoming staff, nothing appears to be too much trouble for them. The rooms, facilities and cleanliness are superb.
My wife has now been a resident in one of the specialist dementia wings for over 3 years suffering with Alzheimer's disease. The home itself is modern in its design. It is light and airy and has clearly been designed with an understanding and sympathy of the needs of dementia residents. It is very well managed and the staff are thoroughly trained in the requirements and demands of those with this progressive disease. They are kind, friendly and caring in every respect. My wife is so content and comfortable that I feel she thinks she is actually at home. I can't rate the Royal Star and Garter highly enough.
It is a rare experience in life to find an organisation in which one has complete and utter faith. I am happy to say that the Royal Star & Garter is one of those organisations. Everything about them says quality, which is why I have given it five stars throughout. Be assured that, in my opinion, should your loved one take up residence with the Royal Star & Garter he or she will be treated with kindness, care, and affection within the safe and warm environment the home provides.
The staff at The Royal Star and Garter always go above and beyond when caring for residents. My father is living with Dementia and has been living at the home for almost two years now. The staff are kind, patient, attentive and supportive. To celebrate his birthday earlier this month, they organised a balloon, prepared a cake and invited other residents from around the home to join the celebration with us. This made the day extremely special for my sister and I, as well as my father. What a wonderful team.
You always leave uplifted. From walking through the door into a smart contemporary reception hall, which is more posh hotel than care home, you are greeted by happy caring people whether they are staff, residents or family members visiting. Everyone cares, and you will end up caring about everyone too after a very short time. It is truly a family atmosphere. The staff are highly professional. Everyone is respected and understood. The minds in that building are or were phenomenal, and everyone had a fascinating life. This ethos is carried through.
This is an extraordinary place, where the welcome is apparent from the moment I walked in the door. I was in for respite to give my wife a break and I was able to tell her that she could stop worrying instantly. The home is magnificently equipped and from my limited medical experience, I couldn’t help but notice how swift and accurate the nursing support was. The food is excellent, both catering and care staff go out of their way to make everybody very welcome and show great patience with those who find it difficult to eat. The well-being coordinators really went out of their way to provide a varied programme, which is delivered with the best possible humour and encouragement. The open-door policy clearly pays off as the home always seems to have fresh visiting faces, from which I certainly felt unconfined. A really nice place for an old person to live.
My father, who is now 91, has been a resident at The Royal Star And Garter High Wycombe since November 2020, when we moved him from another home in order to get specialist Dementia care. He is very content and settled here and as a family, we are delighted with the care, attention, expertise and friendliness of all the staff. We often have lunch with him - after a game of Scrabble which he is still very able to play; beating me more often than I would like - and I have to say the food is very good and is a highlight for my father who is constantly checking his watch to make sure our game is not over-running! I like to have lunch with him on Fridays to get the benefit of the fantastic fish and chips. The home is modern, clean and spacious and the staff are like friends - we could ask for nothing more.
As a family we are so pleased with the continued care and support my Dad is receiving at Royal Star and Garter High Wycombe. The staff are lovely, friendly and very approachable. The nurse in ‘Brookes Family’ has been particularly helpful in keeping us fully updated with my Dad's many ‘issues’ and any concerns she has had with him. My Dad could not be in a better place and we are grateful for all the staff do.
My husband has been a resident at the Royal Star and Garter for 3 years this coming July. I researched various care homes in Berkshire where I live. However, I did not feel confident in any of those that I looked at. That was until I heard from a friend about the Royal Star and Garter in Buckinghamshire. The care given to my husband goes above and beyond my expectations. The staff are so very kind, especially when life becomes challenging, which from time to time has been the case. I can only say that because my husband was in the Army, this meant he qualified for a place in this care home. There are many activities at the home. However, sadly my husband no longer wants to take part. The staff not only look after my husband, they also look after me. Royal Star and Garter have also taught me about the 'Butterfly' method of caring for someone with Dementia. So I thank them profusely for all that they do.
My dad has been at the Royal Star and Garter for a week and I can't fault any of the staff, always so very helpful. You are made to feel like part of the family. The meals are always good and I like that I can stay and have a meal with my dad at a small cost. I would recommend the Royal Star and Garter to all family and friends.
Absolutely amazing place Dad had settled in very well. The staff and care team are amazing, so caring. Special thanks to the three ladies for making us feel part of the Royal Star and Garter family. Again thank you.
I cannot rate the Royal Star and Garter Care Home in High Wycombe highly enough; it is a well-designed, bright and clean environment. I know my father does/will receive excellent care when he stays at the home for short-term care breaks. All the staff are kind, caring, friendly and considerate; they make him feel very welcome, and he says, ‘the food is lovely and that he is looked after well’.
My mother is well cared for, feels safe and secure and is happier than she has been for several years as her health has declined. Staff are friendly and helpful. The environment is spacious, well-maintained and perfectly designed for elderly people with mobility issues. We looked at several homes before choosing this one; it is without a doubt the best I have seen. I can highly recommend it.
