View Full Details of Layston GroveThe care, premises, management, staff, food and drink are superb. The effort that goes into every aspect of the resident's care is remarkable. I was so confident that both my brother and sister-in-law were safe and both well looked after. Cannot speak highly enough of Layston Grove. Thank you to all concerned.
The care that my mother received was excellent throughout the more than four years that she was a resident at Layston Grove. The carers were inspirational people and their kindness and attention, particularly in my mother's final weeks, were exceptional.
My Nan stayed there. I came into her room to see her flat out on the bed when the 'carers' gave her breakfast whilst perched on the edge of the bed. Not in her chair like normal or with any support for her back. She couldn't lift her own body weight and suffering from dementia, so her opinion was mentally unreliable. How long had she been there? She couldn't get up, I was even more shocked to discover she did not have her emergency pendant around her neck. So if I hadn't arrived how long would she have been laying there? Possibly choking on her breakfast too! How could she have alerted the staff if I hadn't arrived? Clearly, I complained, and the same standard responses were received. No suggestion of a refund or sorts for such a potentially catastrophic level of 'care'. The purpose of me writing this review is to offer a warning to anyone considering this care home. Why risk placing your most vulnerable in such an unpredictable, basic and disrespectful level of care.
This truly is an exceptional home. Clean, tidy and well looked after. The care provided is second to none. The staff regularly go above and beyond looking after the residents but the family is well. From the lady on reception to the seniors to the manager, an amazing care team in between, my mum receives outstanding care and is very happy and settled at Layston Grove. Would not hesitate putting a loved one in Leiston Grove and making it their new home.
Friendly staff from reception to carers. My mum's room is kept clean and tidy every day. Mum is fully supported by the amazing care team. Sometimes she may comment that the food could be better. The bedroom is very hot so perhaps an upgrade to have air conditioning would be good for the future.
Well, what can I say but thank you so very much for a wonderful successful happy visit. My mum went upstairs for a clothing shopping trip. A beautiful range of clothes and Mum chose her own. 2 pairs of trousers, pull on, 3 short-sleeved jumpers immensely soft and a long-sleeved cardigan on order. All clothes were taken to the laundry immediately following purchase for labelling. What an incredible care home. I drove for 3 hours but today an accident and heavy rain. However, I leave a very happy 93-year-old lady who made her own choices. As a carer of many years, this has been such an incredible visit and so worthwhile. Thank you to an amazing team of staff.
I called ahead to let the staff know I would be visiting my mother with a bucket of flowers to say how grateful we are as a family for all the care, love and even a birthday cake recently. My mind is always peaceful and our mother told one of my children never to worry as everyone is so kind and she never wants for anything. A huge thank you.
My dear mum, aged 93, has been at Layston Grove since the start of 2024. She settled in very quickly, although she has Alzheimer's and is not a naturally sociable person. She loves her room, appears to enjoy the food and is eating and drinking much more than when she was at home with carers visiting. She is encouraged to join in with suitable activities, has her hair done regularly in the on-site hairdressers and sees a GP in the home if required. I visit regularly and always find the staff to be cheerful, watchful and respectful of residents' needs and wishes. The home is beautifully decorated and furnished and appears to be very well maintained and managed. I am very grateful my Mum has been able to move into Layston Grove and only wish she could have been there sooner!
From viewing the home which we found by chance and the difficulties encountered trying to get mum to view the home to respite care then moving to a full-time resident. We cannot fault anything. The staff are all amazing and incredibly caring, kind and compassionate. I have complete peace of mind that my mum is looked after and enjoying her later years in a wonderful environment.
My wife has Alzheimer's and spent two weeks respite in Layston Grove whilst I had hospital treatment. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, taking all the worry of leaving her there off my shoulders. When you walk in the home has an air of calm which puts you at ease. My wife's room was very nice, clean and comfortable with en suite. The staff looking after her were amazing and treated her with respect and dignity, even mealtimes were carried out with great care and a good choice of food, served in a presentable way. My wife was taken good care of and I would have no hesitation in using the home for future respite care. We attended the coffee morning at the end of the month everybody welcomed my wife and put her at ease, a great way to keep her familiar with the surroundings for the future. Thanks to all for looking after her so well.
Very comfortable with caring staff. Good facilities, staff ensure rooms are kept very clean, and clothes laundered daily. Family welcome to visit at all times. Entertainment provided weekly.
My mum had a nasty fall and needed respite care, and went into Layston Grove in February. The management/admission team were brilliant in helping us to get her in very quickly when she was refused community care, they were very supportive and kind to myself and my brother when we were quite stressed! The staff were all extremely kind and caring which helped Mum settle very quickly. Layston Grove is a purpose built home offering excellent facilities and is spotlessly clean. The good food and care enabled my mother to recover well. So well in fact that after 3 weeks she decided it was time to stay in residential care permanently. The only reason she didn’t stay at Layston Grove was the fact that it was too far away to have her there permanently nothing to do with the care which was fabulous. I would highly recommend Layston Grove to anyone who needs either short-term or permanent care for a loved one.
My husband spent five weeks in Layston Grove for respite care. We cannot fault the staff, all were very kind, respectful and helpful. His room was comfortable and extremely clean. A very nice television and ensuite. He said he would be very happy to return for respite care in the future. I had several meals with him, especially enjoyed the Sunday roast.
My 103-year-old mother became exhausted living alone in her wardened apartment. Layston Grove has twice proven an ideal respite opportunity to relax and recover. I am pleased that all housekeeping (security, safety, care and consideration, food, environment, etc) aspects were well managed. Visiting was 24/7 when staff were always welcoming and helpful. My mother chose to spend a good deal of time recovering in bed with meals, pills and water brought to her room as and when appropriate. She left after two weeks, recharged and ready to take on the world again.
This is a very caring, friendly and thoroughly professional care home. I felt confident that I was leaving my lady in safe hands. I was impressed by the simple, efficiency of tagging items of clothing for laundry purposes.
Dad went to Layston Grove for 2 weeks of respite care in the summer. He was treated so well that he decided he wanted to stay, having looked after himself for 98 years. This is a wonderful care home for the residents. The whole family are so happy for Dad and very grateful to all the staff a Layston Grove.
Utterly outstanding care for Mum! Mum stayed at Layston Grove for 2 weeks to enable her to attend our family wedding. It was a busy time for us and so the manager and the team received a whole list of instructions from all of Mum's collection times, her care requirements (particularly on the wedding day), haircut and hat for the wedding, etc. Every detail was executed wonderfully meaning we were totally calm and able to enjoy this very special time with Mum. The carer that looked after Mum at the wedding was fantastic - Mum's every need was catered for and it made our day all the more relaxing. The entire stay was excellent - the home was very vigilant and caring, Mum settled instantly - slept like a top, ate well, and was always exceptionally well looked after. For my Father it was wonderful to see Mum so well cared for, all of his anxieties about this "temporary" move dissipated and it meant he too relaxed and enjoyed her entire stay. We will definitely repeat this "holiday" for Mum.
I came to see my sister-in-law and I joined in with the exercise dog and had a lovely time. The residents had a great time and most joined in. What a fantastic time we all had! Layston Grove is such a lovely place for my sister-in-law to be in. Thank you.
My mum went to Layston only for a week for respite. She was well cared for and, the most important thing, safe. The home is clean and well-maintained. Staff were excellent and very friendly. On the whole, very pleased with her stay, and would recommend it.
My mother was a resident at the home for five and a half months. She was quite unwell when she arrived, but she was very well cared for and consulted by the staff on every decision. For the last four or so weeks she was very ill but they continued to look after her both mentally and physically.
