View Full Details of Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing HomeOakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is an excellent facility. The rooms are spacious and bright, complete with an ensuite. The staff are very attentive and caring and are always there to help. The home has an extensive and varied set of activities during the week, including a cinema and pub for the residents. The management staff have been excellent and very flexible in ensuring my mother is being well looked after. I am very happy I was able to get my mother there as a resident.
When my parent was admitted to Oakview Lodge, the first impression was that it does feel like a home and not a hospital. The corridors just in and out with bits of furniture and pictures which gives the feeling you're in a house. Looking down the hallways you cannot see lines of doors. The rooms are very spacious with underfloor heating and ensuite facilities. Reasonable-sized double-glazed windows. The food is very good and the lounge area has lots of space with tea and coffee provided.
I can't recommend Oakview Lodge enough. The staff are truly exceptional, kind, attentive and always go the extra mile. The facilities are top-notch, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment. Most importantly they've taken such wonderful care of our family member. It's a relief knowing they're in such good hands.
I can't fault anything about Oakview Lodge. The staff are amazing. Mum has been in Oakview since November 2023 and is very happy. The staff arrange daily activities and keep us posted on Mum's welfare. Although we as a family visit regularly and take Mum out, she is always happy to return to Oakview Lodge. I would highly recommend Oakview Lodge for your loved one. Thank you to all the staff.
Mum is so much happier now she is a resident at Oakview Lodge. The staff are always cheerful and Mum adores them. The family are very impressed with the safety and security and also regular outings with staff, plenty of activities which Mum enjoys. Well done to all the staff and management for their constant updates. A real down-to-earth team but professional.
This is a beautiful, welcoming home. There is a happy rapport between all staff who are exceptionally helpful and cheerful. The nurses are most caring and have given me the best of assistance after my operation. The ground floor room was clean and comfortable. There could have been more towel rails and hooks. The lunch and dinner menu always has two choices. If none of the choices appealed I could order something special. However, there was not much guidance on what else could be served. It took me a while to come to grips with it. A good stay!
We are beyond grateful for the extraordinary care my father has received over these last 4 years. This environment goes way beyond the hotel-like facilities that you first encounter. My dad is treated with dignity, love and humour and above all is listened to 24/7. My mother who comes to visit, is also looked after with grace and subtlety. Neither have ever been pushed into doing anything that doesn’t suit them. Nothing is forced or hurried. These wonderful caregivers answer a calling. It shows in all they do. Many times we managed to bring our entire family together from all over the globe. We had access to the large dining room for a huge feast. After that, we moved to the pub and loudly played music from our parent's era. We danced, sang, lived and loved through the rest of the day. Throughout, my dad had his diaper changed, his medication given and all needs seen to. This care continues daily. To all of you at Oakview Lodge; Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Very friendly staff to residents and family. Efficient and caring and when asked to help, promptly assist. Always working hard and pass information on to other members of staff. Weekly activities are shown to all residents and offered to all. Food is basic, could be a lot better for private care!
It is difficult watching a loved relative face multiple challenges of ageing. I spend a lot of time with Mum when I visit and am reassured that her physical pain, discomfort and confusion are relieved through the myriad of skills and qualities staff offer by their ongoing concern and love for the residents. It is a happy place which stimulates humour and engagement amongst residents. Staff will listen, advise and adjust care if needed when I have questions. Activities are varied, fun, tailored to individual interests and constantly adjusted to enable Mum to join in as her needs change. Mum took a dip during necessary moves between Health Care environments, but through the attention and stability she now receives her humour has returned, observation sharpened and smiles abundant! I am grateful also, for how I am made to feel welcome in their homely environment where I can make myself and Mum a decent cuppa and enjoy the time we have left together.
My mother has always been treated with dignity and respect. The care workers are very considerate and are extremely good at, not only looking after her physically, but they also take time to engage with her so she feels valued. All the staff do a very good job catering to her needs.
Since my wife became a resident in December 2022, the care and support have been of a very high standard. This is thanks to an excellent team of carers, nurses, and the home manager. All rooms are clean and tidy. There are daily stimulating activities which are well attended and appreciated. These are provided by an enthusiastic and engaging team. There is a consistently good choice of menus and light refreshments as needed throughout the day. There has been good support whenever I have sought to take my wife out for a short trip. I am always welcomed whenever I visit and fully informed of my wife's care needs and plan.
My mother is in the care home and has always been looked after respectfully and with kindness. The staff deal with her daily needs as prescribed and will deal with any questions or problems straight away. On occasion, I’ve spoken with the Manager and again been satisfied with any answers given to me. They seem to communicate well with each other. The home is kept clean and maintained. There are activities every day and my mother is encouraged to take part. Generally, my mother is happy with the food provided.
My mother receives excellent care, from her cup of tea after her morning shower to a sensitive 'look in' when she's getting into bed. The carers are polite, respectful and interested in her as a person. The activities are appropriate and inclusive; no one puts pressure on her to join in if she'd rather read or watch TV in her room. She is encouraged to be fully independent where practical and her visitors are always made welcome. There was a period when service in the dinning room was poor but that's been addressed and it is now good. The quality of meals is a bit hit and miss at present - but I know this is being addressed.
A warm and welcoming environment with a strong commitment to delivering the best care to residents. Appreciate carers are busy but if those assigned to keeping bedrooms neat and tidy could also water plants, remove dead flowers etc as part of those duties, that would be much appreciated. The recreational activities are welcomed and it would be great if more could be done to keep minds and bodies stimulated! Opportunities for improvement: there has been a noticeable decline in the number of carers and at times ground floor residents seem to be the ones impacted as priority is given to the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is also a frustration that clothing goes missing even though every item in the wardrobe is clearly marked with the room number. This is very upsetting as it's a matter of dignity that all residents should be wearing their own clothes. I have also seen dining areas with food on the floor that has not been cleared away between meals.
The staff where my sister is are great. Much effort to make the residents comfortable and happy. Much entertainment available and activities even though my sister is now unable to join in. Always a smile and a friendly welcome when I arrive.
The team at Oakview take really good care of my mum who is a resident there and of my Dad who is a regular visitor and is made to feel so welcome whenever he is there. We expect first-class care for Mum - and she gets it - but to offer such kindness to Dad is an example of a place which really cares about people.
Staff turnover is very high, always different faces, dementia sufferers need consistency. Personal care is very poor, hair not washed, finger nails always dirty, toenails cut very rarely. Room cleanliness is poor, always fluff and bits of food on the floor, table is always sticky, windowsills dusty. Communication is difficult with staff, there is a language barrier, unable to understand response. Emails not replied to in a timely manner. Never offered a drink as a visitor, always have to ask for a drink for my mum. My mum is often left with no glasses on, she cannot see without these.
I personally witnessed first-hand the lack of carers in this place. There was not a single day that the elderly residents were not waiting or shouting out for a carer to attend them. Some of the carers who attended my mother were so heavy-handed they left her in agony and in tears. They knew she was dying but that didn’t matter! In the end, one of the females in our family stayed in the room as they attended to our mother. Do not be fooled by the appearance of this place it looks like a hotel but behind the flaps of paint are horrendous cracks! We ended up sleeping there because I did not believe my mother would have been attended to properly during the night if left alone. I can honestly say that I live with guilt and regret that my wonderful mother spent her final days in that place!
Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is a very clean and welcoming care home which has a hotel feel along with excellent facilities. Dad was exceptionally well cared for from the minute he arrived. All the staff were kind, caring and considerate, taking time to understand him, his needs and his character, often going above and beyond for him. Not only did the staff look after Dad so well, they were very kind and supportive to all the family. A fantastic care home that I would have no hesitation in recommending.
My wife has been cared for at Oakview for 18 months. She is looked after with kindness and respect. She thoroughly enjoys the food, and her needs are met. Staff communicate readily and make me welcome during my visits. The facilities are good; we enjoy Hattie's tea room and the garden.
