View Full Details of Abbey Dale CourtThis will be my 2nd review The last one was Nov 1 2024. My mother has now been a resident of Abbey Dale Court in Hamilton for just over 5 months. As I live in Canada I thought it was very important to add to my review on the first class Treatment my mother is receiving. I call mum twice a week and from the early days of October such a difference in her mindset and how secure she feels.. The Management/Leadership team in my view is a very caring Team and should be ack., by their Leaders. The Team on Floor 3 are great and I can say without question mum is very much settled. when we chat to her mum always says the Staff are great and she is very pleased that she has been accepted into this facility. I am hoping at some point I can set up a video call to see her in person. Keep up the great work and thanks always for keeping all informed near and afar.
The home is lovely, clean, and well-furnished. Communication does not flow well between shifts. This needs to be addressed. If a lot of staff turnover does not help communication. My Father is good although laundry is an issue sometimes. Overall I am very happy with Abbey Dale Court and appreciate the weekly updates from the manager.
Overall I would like to say a big thank you to the housekeeping staff, the kitchen staff for always making sure Mum has something to suit her dietary requirements as she is very fussy, also to one member of staff in particular who has time for Mum and all the residents he is such a kind person and all the caring and nursing staff who go above and beyond every day. It takes an entire team to run this place so all must be thanked.
Really pleased with the level of care my mum received was very well looked after, meals were well prepared and nothing was a bother to any of the staff within the care home, one member of staff in particular was absolutely amazing so compassionate and on top of everything relating to my mum's health issues and she had a few. She is an absolute angel and an asset to the care home.
My mother was admitted to Abbey Dale Court with an expectation of three to four weeks of palliative "end-of-life" care required. That was 40 months ago. The level of care and affection she has been given throughout difficult and challenging times for the home i.e. (pandemic, staff retention issues and care commission reviews)y has been simply excellent. As relatives who visit almost daily, we are impressed with the level of support, and personal care she receives daily. She may be frial, blind, immobile and with dementia, but has the capacity to know she is being treated with kindness.
To date, in the main, my dad has had a very positive experience in Abbey Dale Court. Initial assessment had indicated the need for him to reside on the 'dementia' floor where there was additional support. However, as he settled, his distress at the increased noise levels and movements of other residents was noted by staff and they agreed with the family's suggestion that he be moved to another area. This has been achieved and he is more settled and well cared for. Initial concerns, regarding communication have somewhat been allayed. Staff know Dad well and show they care.
Staff are very friendly and very approachable. They are very good, hardworking and provide a very good service of care to my gran and other residents, which I'm very grateful for and I appreciate their hard work and the care they provide.
Abbey Dale Court has a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. My family member is well looked after.
The staff are extremely friendly and hard working. Can't praise them enough. Fantastic service. Very grateful for the care they provide for my gran and other residents.
Abbey Dale provides a caring, safe and secure environment for residents. Housekeeping promotes a safe and clean environment, catering is excellent and every effort is made on special occasions and anniversaries throughout the year to mark these occasions with an appropriate menu. Communication has very much improved over the last few months.
The home is of a very high standard. My brother has been a resident here now for over 1 year and is happy in a very safe environment. Staff are very caring and friendly and always give 100% effort to every aspect of his care and support not only to him as a resident but to all the family. During the year of my brother’s residence, there have been a lot of changes in the home which have been very positive and continue to improve. Any concerns raised or aspects of his care which we think could be improved on are actioned very quickly. There is a very strong and experienced management team in place bringing with them innovative ideas and care solutions to the home. Caring in this home comes from all employees from housekeeping, a fantastic chef and his team, an activities team encouraging residents to participate in activities and entertainment, dedicated carers and nurses. Each and everyone has a kind word for residents as they perform their duties.
Abbey Dale Court Care Home is a lovely warm and clean environment for both staff and residents. Mum's care plan was recently reviewed and we as a family felt that our concerns were listened to and steps taken to update the plan. The food is excellent and special occasions are celebrated in style. The activities team put a lot of effort into stimulating and engaging the residents.
My dad currently lives at Abbey Dale Court, he is content and happy in the home environment. He has the freedom to move around the home and has access to the lovely communal gardens at the rear of the home. The staff have always been amazing with my dad, always polite and very attentive to his needs. He is treated as an individual and always asked his opinion on matters that concern him. If there are ever any concerns these are always sorted out promptly by the staff who are all very approachable. The staff are more like friends and family members to my dad and us as a family. My dad is really fond of all of the staff although he definitely has a few favourites. I definitely have every faith in the staff and I am confident that he is well cared for.
Very happy with the overall care and support most of the time. I have a concern about the continuity of the staff who care for Mum. I understand about shift patterns, holidays and sickness, but there needs to be a pool of staff who know the resident's needs and health requirements, who are in the same unit and not moved around the home. Communication needs to be improved. As a family, we are happy to help but need to know what is going on.
The staff are friendly and caring; however, too many agency staff and feel they don't know my mum, so would like a key worker to have continuity of care, which would be in my mum's best interest. Communication - often don't know what is going on in the home to join in with my mum; this is essential for her and her family. An email out to families every week with what's going on would help, as not everyone is able to come and see the noticeboard. Social media should be used too to let families know.
My mother-in-law spent 4 happy years at Abbey Dale Court. We, as her family, are so happy she spent her last years in safety, and with such beautiful accommodation. But most of all, the personal care she received was first class.
The care my parents are having is second to none in every respect. My mum is end of life and Dad has Alzheimer's. Every member of staff I have encountered has been kind, considerate and professional. They are a well trained force who know my parents very well and take time to be with them apart from physically caring for them. All necessary comforts are available with Mum and Dad receiving the personal care that I would provide myself and would be grateful to have. 5 stars all round.
First and foremost, make sure they take the details of the next of kin, no information about my phone number or address was recorded. Concerns were never dealt with, very poor communication throughout. So basically, my mother was in the care of this care home with nothing in place. Even sent care home bill to her former address.
Completely unsatisfactory care was provided by Abbeydale. Even allowing for covid epidemic care given to my mum was totally unacceptable and this care home needs a complete overhaul throughout. It may have a lovely piano in the reception area but perhaps the money should be spent on staff and training.
My mum was only in Abbey Dale Court care home for a short period of time, however, the care she received was excellent. The staff were very attentive to her needs and kept me informed during difficult times of all my mums care. My mum sadly died on 12/4/21, it was so sad she didn't live long enough to enjoy this nursing home.
