View Full Details of Hesketh Park LodgePersonal and professional staff. Comfortable and clean environment. My mum is treated with respect and dignity and we as a family always feel welcomed when visiting. The activities team, in particular, goes above and beyond to ensure Mum is encouraged to get involved.
My husband was in for respite for 4 weeks, he returned home but was unable to manage so had to return to the care home. The staff were excellent with their understanding of the situation and he soon settled back in. He likes a shower daily and the staff always make sure this happens. He is well cared for. It is very clean and friendly care home.
The whole experience has been professional, compassionate and reassuring. Mum moved in at a difficult time and was cared for so well, right from the outset. Everyone has treated mum kindly and with respect. All the staff have also been helpful and reassuring to me. I have been made to feel very welcome. Thank you.
Funeral wake was wonderful, friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Perfect for the occasion.
Activities are getting less, nothing for residents sometimes. Tables in dining room sometimes grubby. Sometimes difficult to get through on the phone after 5pm, which has taken me three hours to find out how mu sick husband was. So distressing.
I felt the overall experience and care I received to be generally outstanding and would heartily recommend this home to anyone needing such a facility.
The care provided to my wife in her last days was, in my view, outstanding.
My cousin came to Hesketh Park Lodge (HPL) from hospice care for continuing end-of-life care at HPL. We selected HPL after looking at several homes, some of which seemed complete hellholes. As we walked from the car park on our first visit, we noticed the attractive window paintings and thought it was a positive sign that someone had taken the trouble to do that. The interior of HPL was very pleasant, and the rooms were all we could want and expect. The information provided on our visit sounded good, so we selected this home for our loved one, although conscious that we hadn't yet seen evidence of the actual standard of care. Care turned out to be not as good as the hospice (but nowhere would be), but was good or excellent for the duration of my cousin's stay until his death. There was an initial issue with mattresses deflating and lack of access to replacements, but that was never repeated. The staff were competent, friendly and caring. The events leader was especially good. 9/10 from us.
I looked at 22 care homes before deciding on Hesketh Park Lodge. My friend could propel herself in her wheelchair. Hesketh Park Lodge was excellent for this with smooth flooring, so hygienic! Her room was lovely as it overlooked the park, which she loved going in. In the beginning, she was encouraged to bring her own possessions with her which she thought was wonderful, it made it feel like home. Towards the end the nurses looked after her leg ulcers and they said she was always happy and smiling even if it was painful. The staff enjoyed looking after her, nothing was too much trouble for them. She was always thanking them for what they did for her. The 3 years my friend was in there I never heard her complain, so I feel that after looking at 22 homes I did pick the right one and would actually recommend it to anyone.
Hesketh Park Lodge is a warm and friendly environment. The facilities are clean and tidy with plenty of new furnishings and fittings in the rooms, which are bright and spacious. The staff are welcoming and there is continuity of personnel, which makes the experience of the clients more relaxing and allows them to settle in quickly. The menu is varied daily and the food quality very good.
My husband stayed approximately two weeks for respite care following a fall. The staff were wonderful with him and the care was excellent. He has quite a complex medication regime and becomes agitated when he thinks certain tablets are due and when he is confused. The staff were wonderful with him, kind and patient. We would have no hesitation in repeating a stay in the future.
Dad had been at Hesketh Park Lodge since March, initially on the Beech Floor and then in the last two months he moved down to the nursing floor. We felt reassured that he was being well cared for, by the carers, receptionist, cleaners, kitchen staff and nurses, they all knew our and Dad's needs, they couldn't do enough for him. In his final days, the nurses didn't just do their job, they did it with kindness for which we will always be grateful. We can not thank them enough and would highly recommend Park Lodge to anyone.
Excellent in the following: Care, compassion, collaboration with family, leadership behaviours, accommodating external teams. The food is amazing, beautiful environment, and day-to-day care from all staff, room 19 has been excellent, person-centred and friendly.
My parents required more care than we could deliver with home care and day club, having had a disappointing respite at a different home as a family decided to try Hesketh Park Lodge on a respite of 4 weeks and then review. From the moment we entered the home, we were greeted warmly by the reception staff. The staff are friendly and polite to residents and visitors. My parents have their hygiene needs met and still look like Mum and Dad which is important to us. They are happy and settled and love mealtimes but especially love the cake. The care staff keep us up to date and are professional and caring. I have also had chats with the housekeeping staff, laundry staff and maintenance and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are kept lovely and clean. We visit as we want and our little dog is made a big fuss of. I have chatted with the deputy manager and felt listened to.
My brother-in-law was admitted to Hesketh Park Lodge approximately 6 months ago. He was discharged from hospital and was quite poorly, loss of appetite and low weight, but thanks to the perseverance of all the staff and support workers he has improved greatly. The building and rooms and facilities are excellent. Thank you!
Generally very happy with the care my Mother is receiving, the staff are caring and considerate. My Mother has a problem with her left hand, her fingers are bent over. Her hand needs to be kept clean and dry every day to prevent infection, this has not been noticed until I found it during my visit. A visit from a dentist would be very useful! A proper manicure where the nails are cleaned would be great along with the pedicure she receives Wednesday. Hairdresser is fantastic! Everyone looks fab!
My brother has improved tremendously whilst there. His mobility has improved and he has gained weight. The atmosphere is always pleasant and happy. The home is decorated to suit the seasons (Valentine's Day, Easter, etc.). The residents are encouraged to take part in activities that are tailored to their abilities. The staff are friendly and encouraging to residents and visitors alike. A happy, caring home.
My sister and I had struggled to find a suitable nursing home for our dad to spend a couple of weeks respite in. As soon as we entered Hesketh Park Lodge we were very impressed. The cleanliness, friendliness and care were apparent. Dad had an enjoyable 2 weeks which we extended to 4 weeks. He was well-fed, kept exceptionally clean, entertained and treated with great respect. Thanks to everyone at Hesketh Park Lodge we would not hesitate to give Dad respite there again.
The staff at Hesketh Park Lodge were excellent in delivering outstanding care to my mother. From 19th January 2024 to 18th March, nothing was too much trouble, they went to every length and even looked after myself. Their care was given with great dignity to patients such as my mum who was on end-of-life. It was like a 5-star hotel.
After reviewing several nursing homes in the Southport area for my father (93) we felt Hesketh Park Lodge was by far the best (especially in relation to facilities and access and CQC ratings for care). After meeting staff and touring the facility we made our choice. My father was admitted for nursing care after leaving hospital and we were allowed to personalise the room prior to his arrival. When he arrived he was smiling and said how nice it was. We can but say how humbled and impressed we were. Every single staff member should be commended for the love and care my father received. The professional approach to looking after him 24/7 prior to his late passing was truly inspiring. I say this as we sat with my father for his final 7 days and nothing was too much trouble, his care was in my view first class. As he passed he and we were treated with great dignity and the compassion shown by all staff continued. We can but highly recommend using Hesketh Park Lodge.
