My wife had a major operation on an ankle and was bed bound for five weeks, followed by limited mobility in a leg plaster cast. During the time she was in Penrose Court Care Home she received exemplary care and attention. I was also made very welcome during my visits. Her room was roomy with an excellent television and brighter windows, with a view of the ever-changing neighbourhood. She is now home but if ever she needed to go to a care home for respite and the like, I would have no hesitation going back to Penrose Court.
First class.
My dad has been at Penrose Court for a little over two years now. He is very happy and very settled. We spent Christmas Day with Dad at the home, also having a Christmas dinner. The table was set in the celebration room as there were six of us. It was set beautifully. The food was fantastic and the staff were perfect. It was a lovely experience. We couldn't thank the staff enough.
My husband went into care after his dementia became too difficult to manage safely at home. It was easy to choose Penrose Court Care Home as we had personal family experience of the excellent care and management. He seems settled and mostly content. He takes part in the singing and music activities and likes to dance
My sister, who suffers from dementia, entered Penrose Court in April 2024 and quickly settled in due to the welcoming care shown to her by the staff. The staff are friendly, caring and although busy do their best for their residents. They keep us well informed of any issues which are usually quickly resolved. We find all the staff very approachable. Residents are encouraged to participate in the various activities, which are organised each week. The Penrose Court Christmas party was the highlight of numerous activities put on for all the residents. It pleased us to see my sister stimulated and joining in as best she could. Christmas Day the dining room and tables were beautifully decorated for the residents' Christmas dinner. We are very pleased with the care provided for my sister and have no hesitation in recommending Penrose Court.
I live some distance from my aunt, so I am unable to visit as often as I'd like! On the last two occasions, her trolley tray looked unclean, and she said she had not had a shower for some time, owing to the fact that there is only one hoist in the home. She could not recall when her hair was last washed. I mentioned this to reception, and they booked her a salon appointment - surely, her hair being washed should be during a shower!
My sister was transferred to Penrose from the hospital on October 10th. We had no idea how poorly she was until her GP informed us on Monday 14th October her condition deteriorated and she would be having end-of-life care. The staff were very kind and sympathetic and for her remaining days cared for her with compassion ensuring her surroundings were calm and serene. They showed such love towards us when we visited. We will be forever grateful.
Mother initially went to Penrose Court for respite care, but her needs required her to stay permanently.
What a fantastic care home, efficiently run by a very organised & and extremely caring group of staff. From our initial impromptu visit to browse the facilities through to the completion of 3 weeks of Respite care for Mum, we as a family could not have asked for more. The Care Home Manager extended us a very warm welcome upon arrival and arranged for us to be shown to Mum's room on the first floor. The home itself is beautifully decorated, with very spacious areas with an array of lounge & dining rooms, a hair salon, a cinema, an open plan soft seating area & beautiful outdoor spaces for the residents to enjoy. The attentive & genuinely caring staff helped Mum feel comfortable & at ease throughout her stay, treating her with the utmost respect & compassion. Mum made use of the hair salon facilities during her stay & was thrilled with her haircut, stating it was the best she'd ever had. Daily enrichment activities were arranged so no time for boredom. An amazing time was had thank you!
From the very warm welcome through to the kind farewells, Penrose Court were outstanding. An amazing team of people on both residential and nursing units. Would highly recommend it. Used in this instance for respite but would not hesitate going back. A true example of how a care facility should operate.
Penrose Court were attentive and compassionate in their care for my father. As a specialist dementia facility, they also helped us to understand my father's condition and how better to handle it. They helped us to deal with a very difficult situation and this extended to dealing with his death too.
My dad needed respite care following being in hospital for 6 weeks before returning to his flat. The staff were great with my dad as it was more that wanted him to have respite so he may have been reluctant at times. The rooms were lovely too with an ensuite shower facility.
I have had nothing but civility and kindness shown to me since I moved in and when my wife died treated with great sympathy.
Exceptional, caring and professional care for three weeks following long hospitalisation and emergency surgery. The room was arranged in less than 24 hours, reassuring welcome and informative induction to new surroundings, from all staff. Excellent room facilities, including well-equipped wet room, good wifi, plentiful and frequent refreshments. Quiet environment and privacy, requests respectfully observed. A modern stimulating location with a well-maintained garden area, seating and safe varied paths. An excellent location for respite care, thank you.
The home is very well situated with easy access to cafe and shops for residents able to take advantage of. Light, airy building, calm, relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly, caring staff. Well-appointed rooms with the freedom to embellish individually. Communal areas are beautifully maintained (double cloths on tables!) Comfortable seating. Music and activities are good, inclusive with words displayed. The dementia unit shows no obvious distress from any resident, one taking advantage of the garden and another of the cafe area - set up to emulate the real thing. The nursery was particularly impressive.
My mum has had the best care. Nothing is too much trouble. We enjoy a laugh with all the staff. On Sundays, my sister and I have a fab lunch with Mum and the other residents.
I am quite content here. I only have to ask one of the staff for something and it is done. Well done.
Great staff. Nice to have a laugh with everyone. On Sundays, we have lunch with Mum which she loves. Mum gets fantastic care. All her medical needs are met. Doctor on call.
