View Full Details of Lighthouse LodgeFrom the moment I walked into Lighthouse Lodge on 21 January, I felt welcome. Having had a procedure at hospital that day, first impressions were vital for my confidence. I was not disappointed. I cannot fault any aspect of the care, and would not hesitate to recommend it. Nurses were meticulous, caring, kind, professional. Carers did exactly that. They cared deeply that I was safe, happy, warm, and comfortable. I left on 4 February, feeling I was on the road to recovery, and I am very grateful to Lighthouse Lodge.
Great facilities for someone who is suffering with dementia. Staff members are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The Lodge is well equipped with everything they need and brings comfort to family members when visiting.
Such a lovely care home with the most lovely, attentive, caring staff. The home is spotless and everyone is so warm and friendly. My father has settled so well after such a short period of time. We couldn't fault the home and its wonderful staff who have shown my father nothing but the best care and attention.
Excellent care for my dad. Compassionate staff, clean, regular tea/given drinks. Excellent visiting hours. Staff so friendly and helpful.
Used Lighthouse Lodge as respite for my auntie who had had a stroke from the very first day. She got a very warm welcome from staff. My auntie settled in very well and was always clean and tidy when I came to visit. Food must have been good as she put weight on which was much needed. Lots of activities going on and things done in her time i.e. getting up in the morning, taking time to eat meals, no rushing. Would recommend and will be using for respite again.
The staff from as soon as you come into the building are so friendly. I feel happy knowing my dad is safe and getting looked after so well. 10/10.
The activities team excelled in organising a superb 97th birthday party for my mother with a wonderful cake and entertainer. They ensured that not only my mother but all residents and their guests were included and had a great time. Their enthusiasm, genuine support and care was outstanding. This is typical of the entertainments team, they always go the extra mile. All the staff in the home try their hardest to care for, support and keep the residents happy.
I am always impressed by the standard of the home and interact with most staff who are obviously very caring and professional. As a visitor, the food I see seems well prepared and presented but unfortunately, the nature of the food choices does not always suit my mother. I can offer very little feedback apart from praise for the way my mother is cared for. My main concern or observation is the apparent high turnover of what seems to be excellent members of staff and wonder if staff retention should be given a higher priority by the organisation.
My dad lived here until he passed. I had no hesitation in bringing my mum here when it was time. All staff have treated both my parents well. Always greeted with a smile from reception to staff on the floor. Would recommend, never feel like I can't ask questions about Mum's care.
Mum gets excellent care from Lighthouse Lodge. A particular mention to the staff member who goes above and beyond in organising and facilitating many different events and activities. Cinema and Theatre visits, singers, parties and many more. Thank you.
The care my wife received was second to none. She had dementia and she died in September 2024 at the age of 91. She was on the 1st floor of the Lodge. Of all the carers who tended to her, who were good, I would like to highlight two carers in particular, they were wonderful. They treated her as if she was their mum. I cannot thank them enough. The best thing I ever did was to take her to the Lighthouse for the last eight months of her life.
My husband has been cared for since his stay at Lighthouse Lodge with care and kindness. The only reason for his leaving is financial.
We placed Mum in this wonderful care home after reading positive reviews and being shown around by the staff. Mum's room was beautiful and we were allowed to reorganise furniture to suit her needs and place personal items so she felt like it was her own home. The room was clean bright and modern and as mum had difficulty walking she was placed in a room close to the dining room so she didn't have far to walk for her meals. Mum liked to have some meals in her room and the staff were very accommodating. The care Mum received was brilliant, she was safe clean and well looked after. Every member of staff I came in contact with was professional. They took time to sit with Mum and get to know her personality, her likes and dislikes and Mum was very happy there and I would not hesitate to recommend Lighthouse Lodge. Myself and my family were always made welcome on every visit and constantly kept updated on Mum's health and welfare. I am truly thankful for the 2 years Mum had here. The staff were amazing.
My mother-in-law has resided at the care home in New Brighton for 16 months. The best asset they have is the quality of its staff who are superb. Hardworking, caring, professional, friendly and with a sense of humour. I can only personally benchmark against two other care homes on the Wirral who by contrast were extremely poor in looking after residents who were considered a nuisance the more attention they needed. At Lighthouse, I have the utmost faith in every member of staff that they genuinely care for the elderly.
Having now spent three months in Lighthouse Lodge, my aunt has transformed from an old lady at death's door to a lady who has a purpose in life. She is clean and well-fed and looks healthy as a result. All staff are very professional and polite, and no problem is too much and dealt with quickly. I would definitely recommend this care home.
In October 2023, I accepted I could no longer give my wife the care she needed at home. Perhaps later than I should have, my daughter and I visited a number of homes in our area able to care for someone with advanced mixed dementia. Lighthouse Lodge was our top pick. It is purpose-built, light and airy, and the accommodation ranks with that of a good hotel. Most importantly, I was able to witness the quality of care my wife received. Every member of staff, not just the hands-on carers, was kind and compassionate. As my wife’s condition deteriorated and her end of life was imminent, they not only supported my wife but also included me and our daughters in their support. Sadly, my dear wife passed away in January at the home. The medical support from the GP and District Nurses, together with loving carers, meant that in her final days, she was comfortable, peaceful and pain-free. I take comfort in knowing that by choosing Lighthouse Lodge, my wife got the best of care.
Laundry service seems 'hit and miss' - dirty clothes not collected and clean clothes not always returned same day. My mum is often close to running out of clean underwear. Her room often feels like it is not clean - same comment for lounge/dining area. Does not feel like full value for money at £1100 per week.
I am so glad I chose Lighthouse Lodge for my mum. All staff are polite, caring, attentive and accommodating. My mum has complex needs of which Lighthouse Lodge have a very good understanding. I am fully updated on a regular basis of my mum's well-being and feel very welcome when I visit. Nothing is too much and all staff are amazing.
Lighthouse Lodge was a lovely, safe environment for my mother after an operation. She felt safe, I was reassured she was in a lovely, safe environment. Staff were lovely, friendly, helpful and just went out of their way to make her feel safe and calm. Thank you!
On entering my mother-in-law's room at 10:30 am. I noticed that the room and en-suite hadn't been cleaned. In the bathroom, the seat in the shower was soiled. Dirty tissues on the floor in the bathroom and bedroom. Dirty underwear on a seat with dirty pyjama bottoms. I found a lady from the laundry area and gave her these items, she said that the room may not have been cleaned yet as a member of staff had called in sick. She said that only two ladies were in to clean two floors.
