View Full Details of Cramond ResidenceIn early February my wife (90) and I (91) had a fortnight's respite care break in Cramond Residences to rest and recharge our batteries. They have us this and we were very pleased by how well they looked after us. The caring and nursing staff were extremely attentive and took a real interest in us, even though we were only short-term residents. The rooms were quite large and well-furnished, with very good beds. There was a comfortable lounge nearby, where we had our meals. There were other lounges too, and a very pleasant garden. However, not all was perfect - -The shower controls were stiff and difficult to move. -Switches for bedside lamps could only be comfortably reached by getting out of bed. - My wife has arthritic hands and found the button on the call bracelet very difficult to operate. -Little things spoiled some of the breakfasts - everything was brought at the same time which meant that by the time you had eaten cereal, hot courses and drinks had gone cold. These criticisms do not outweigh the overall very good standards of Cramond Residences. We benefitted greatly from our stay and are very grateful to all with whom we had dealings.
I came in after a fall - to recuperate. I am sole carer for my husband, so he came with me. We have been treated excellently, kindly and gently. This is a superb care home. I had my 92nd birthday here and they put on a cake and celebration for my family and myself.
Cramond Residence was first class. My 85 year old husband spent three weeks in Cramond following a broken hip and hip replacement. He had excellent care and lots of physio. All the staff were so kind and caring and one staff member in particular headed up a wonderful team. The food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Five star care, in a five star residence, my mum often thought she was staying in a hotel! All the staff went above and beyond to make my mum feel special, and she forged many close bonds, which felt like a family. Everyone, including all the background staff, would stop by for a chat. The care home has many different areas for people to use with homely lounges to meet up with family or other residents. These are maintained to a very high standard with quality furnishing, and make welcoming spaces for friends and family to meet. The ground floor has a cafe area with endless supplies of hot drinks and irresistible home baked cakes! When my mum passed last December, the compassion and sensitivity of care helped through an extremely difficult time. The attention to care, for both the resident and family is faultless and I highly recommend to anyone considering Cramond Residencefor short or long term stays, my mum having resided there for just over two years.
I found in Cramond Residence the perfect environment for post-operative convalescence. The staff were kind, friendly and attentive. My room, all facilities and catering were of the highest quality.
My dad moved to Cramond Residence on 9 October 2024. We have been so impressed from the very beginning by the excellent level of care provided to dad, by the kindness and understanding shown to him, and also to us, by all the members of staff on every level. Dad's room is beautiful and the residence in general is just lovely - lots of little sitting rooms, dining rooms, conservatory and garden. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Cramond Residence to anyone looking for the best possible long-term care for their loved ones.
Cramond Residence is a beautiful place with first class facilities, but it is the people who make it special. It is far and away the best care home I have been in (and I have been in many, in a professional capacity, over the years). I feel that not only is my dad properly seen as a person, but my family and I are too. Every member of staff I have met has been helpful, friendly, and responsive, often going above and beyond. It was my dad's 94th birthday last week and one particularly wonderful member of staff took all the candles OFF his cake so that my 3 year old granddaughter could put them back on and help carry in the cake! It felt like family in that moment. From the management team to the care assistants, housekeeping and catering staff, and receptionists, and everyone behind the scenes - brilliant.
This was the perfect place to recover from knee replacement surgery. The residence is very comfortable and the staff extremely kind and welcoming. The choice of food is very good. Facilities and staff to help with rehab are excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this option for rehabilitation.
Every detail at Cramond Residence is carefully thought of and executed to the highest standards. Professional, caring, staff. First class medical care. Delicious, healthy dining. Superior accommodation set in beautiful surroundings. Delightful entertainment along with first class hair and spa treatments. The perfect place to receive respite care. A wonderful experience.
Cramond Residence is the best residence to live in. The staff are friendly and highly professional. All of the rooms are amazingly high quality and fit for purpose. The meals all varied and delicious. The other residents are happy and friendly and all get along with each other and the staff. There are many varied types of internal and external events and great TV and library rooms. Last the newsletters are an excellent and varied read covering events and individuals.
The staff we interacted with (receptionists, nurses, carers, management) were all just excellent, really made the respite stay easy for my dad (resident) and the wider family. Was impressed by the facilities available to residents and by the food.
I arrived at Cramond Residence for rehabilitation following a hip replacement, at a mere 53 years old I was the youngest resident by far! Cramond Residence is simply amazing! The staff, without exception, are incredible. The love, care, attention and endless time given to each resident is exemplary. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Everyone has their own daily needs and routines and the staff provide one to one care. The building is split into 9 houses, same faces (both staff and residents) on each corridor and no overwhelming big spaces. I was lucky enough to be in Bonaly House and the whole team, day and night, were just incredible. It's not a job that I could do and I take my hat off to each and everyone here that has chosen a career in care. Amazing people. The highlight of each day was the mealtimes (3 courses twice a day!) and the 11am coffee/biscuit run and the 3pm coffee/cake cart! The food was amazing! Two weeks on I can safely say that this was the best decision I ever made!
First class facilities, with excellent attentive staff. Really professional in every aspect of the care provided from initial booking until the end of stay, keeping us informed and up to date throughout. Nothing was a problem for the nursing or admin staff.
The standards of the Cramond Residence are very high in everything they do. The food is absolutely superb. The variety of food is quite amazing - something different every day. The staff are so helpful at all times and go out of their way to make every minute pleasurable. Expensive but worth it!
The care provided over the last two years was excellent. Caring and companionable staff. Nothing is too much trouble and staff carry out their duties with a smile on their face. It takes a special kind of person to do this job. The staff in Cramond are a credit to the business.
My sisters and I met the client liaison manager and he showed us around Cramond Residence and we loved it. He was brilliant at explaining everything and mentioned that they were having an open day so I attended with my mum. The staff were helpful and wonderful! Mum loved it and decided this was the place for her! She is now a resident and loves it. The staff are fantastic - happy, helpful and absolutely incredible. The lifestyle consultants are busy planning daily activities and are full of fun. Mum had a spa day today! Last week she was line dancing and at movie night. The staff are all so incredible. They are simply the best ever! Thank you all. This feels like an American senior living place in a beautiful setting. If you are looking for a fantastic place for a parent or relative - look no further. Cramond Residence is a magical place where residents are so happy and the setting is fabulous! It truly is outstanding. Thank you to every single member of staff for making Mum so happy. Thank you!
I chose to be admitted to the Cramond Residence following a left hip replacement. I know the importance of wound care and physiotherapy team and the nursing and physiotherapy team did not let me down. The home was clean, the environment warm and friendly. Each team helps each other and are all very caring and kind. A glass of wine with dinner was also well received. All staff were attentive and any help requested was met with efficiently.
We were really disappointed with the service provided. My mother was due to attend for 2 weeks respite but we took her out early. I turned up twice at 10 am and she was awake in a dark room, still in her pyjamas and had soiled herself. When I asked the nurses why she wasn't up yet they said that 8 am she didn't want to get up. I asked them to get her changed and ready when I arrived and asked if she had had breakfast, they had to check. When they said she hadn't but breakfast was available if she requested it, I had to point out that she has no way to communicate so this was a big issue. Later one day I asked a nurse if she could take her to the bathroom as she needed the toilet. Due to the nurses' lack of English, she was taken for a bath. I pointed out that it was the loo she needed and not the bath. My mum was desperate by this stage but the nurse had to go off to find a transfer aid. This took well over 5 mins by which time my mum was getting distraught.
I enjoyed my fortnight's respite care at Cramond and extended my stay for 2 weeks. I found the staff very helpful and anxious I should have all I required. They arranged for me to see the local GP on three occasions and got the necessary prescriptions very quickly. Good prompt service in my room at meals. I found the food varied but sometimes too spicy for an older person. The chef did discuss this with me. Very good service in between meals. And In my room at mealtimes. Very helpful by transporting me to and from the dentist on 2 occasions and home at the end of my stay. Could have joined in daily groups but was there to get over Sciatica so often chose to rest. Good expedition to the garden centre in Stockbridge one afternoon. Weekly physio - 1 group and one private lesson included- very useful. Beautiful garden and perfect circular walking path much used. Would come again.
My wife was a resident for one week in respite care. I was very impressed by the caring attitude of the staff and their attention to detail. The staff seemed to have plenty of time for each resident. The facilities are excellent. I can find no fault in the care given.
