To everyone working at Bickerton, you really are a credit to Care UK and I couldn't be happier with the level of care and service my loved one receives.. thank you
Safe and well cared for. The Home offers excellent service not only to the residents but also keeping the family and carer updated which is so important. There were issues regarding the quality of food but that has now been resolved. The manager is approachable and always wants to hear from residents and family in the event something needs looking at. The staff seem a lot happier now he is in charge rather than with previous managers. Have no issues and well done for running a good ship.
Generally, very good. One-to-one care a little hit and miss over Christmas-New Year but generally, staff attitude very good.
Both of my parents are residents, mother with Alzheimer's and father with mobility issues. I think my primary reason for the level of satisfaction is that I no longer fear for their safety and they have 24/7 care, which in my mother's case, is essential.
My mother-in-law has been there for six weeks after having a stroke, it was the best decision we made. She is very happy there, lovely environment and lovely staff. A good selection of activities and encouragement by the staff to join in. She has just had a birthday and a big fuss was made making her feel very special. She hasn't smiled as much as she is for a long time.
My mother and father-in-law have both been living at Bickerton House since April this year. They each have very different care needs and they are polar opposites when it comes to likes, dislikes, personalities etc. however everyone at Bickerton, without exception, shows great respect and empathy toward every individual and their personal situation or needs. They listen to and try hard to deliver special requests and are always welcoming to family and friends when they visit. When my mum-in-law was very poorly, they showed great empathy by allowing us to visit at any time, enabling us to visit every day around work schedules and the kids' clubs etc. I cannot fault them. I've found a real gem in Bickerton House and am so glad my in-laws are now safe and very happy in their new home.
Both my mother and father are residents at Bickerton House. My mother has Alzheimer's and is therefore on a different floor to my father. The staff are so understanding of the different needs they both have, especially as my mother, sadly, has deteriorated in the last year. They have supported and helped my father to cope with seeing less of my mother, I have really appreciated the care and thought that has gone into this. The care for both of them is fantastic and very individual.
Thank you to the staff of Bickerton House for making my mother's 96th birthday such a memorable experience, she was overjoyed by the fuss and attention she received. We were able to have lunch together in a private room, the food was excellent and the cake, made on-site, exceptional. Moving Mum to a care home came with some trepidation but now seeing how happy she is, I know it was absolutely the right decision. She has quickly made friends and despite many offers from family, has decided staying at Bickerton is her preferred Christmas destination. My mother has been a resident only for a few months but already is referring to the staff as "my angels" which is good enough for me. She really does seem to be enjoying herself, I'm sure she thinks she is on holiday.
My dad moved in May 30th 2024, he loves it there, wishes he had moved in beforehand. He says the staff works so very hard to accommodate his needs, we have tried to make it a home from home with many of his own personal items, photos and even his own recliner chair.
My mum is a resident of Bickerton House and is so happy there. The care she receives, not just personal care but emotional and well-being, is exemplary. She thoroughly enjoys all the activities and experiences they offer which makes her time so much more fulfilled. The staff are amazing, they are very approachable, honest and professional and make sure that each resident is treated individually. It is such a relief to know that the people caring for my mum are doing so in a way where she doesn't feel like a 'patient' but a member of a large family. The management is very approachable and always listens to concerns and deals with them promptly which is a great benefit when you have to trust a loved one to someone else. Bickerton has made my mum's life better and she enjoys every aspect of being there. Thank you Bickerton!
My wife and I have lived in Bickerton House for two years and feel happy and comfortable here. Our five bedroom house had become too big for us to look after. My wife fell and hit her leg on a kitchen unit. She was in hospital for two weeks and told that she needed to be in a care home. We chose Bickerton House because the careers were obviously very caring. We have comfortable, well-furnished rooms and enjoy the varied and healthy menus at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have exercises three days each week that help keep us fit. We enjoy the various singers and other entertainers who come in. In the summer we enjoy sitting in the garden and talking with other residents. Also, the care home has a minibus which took us to Windsor for a very enjoyable trip on the river. All these activities are enjoyable and give us important new memories. Overall, we have a better, more comfortable and interesting life at Bickerton House than we did over the last few years we spent in our house.
Our parents moved to Bickerton House two and a half years ago and it's a decision we have never regretted. They were given a spacious en-suite room together on the dementia floor. They have been looked after with care and compassion and their medical needs are carefully observed. Their days are often filled with seasonal activities and musical performances. On summer days we love to sit with them on a terrace or out in the garden. Sadly, we recently lost our father to Alzheimer's. All the staff were excellent at monitoring him and making him as comfortable as possible during his final days. We're very grateful for all their support of Mum and Dad during this difficult time and indeed, the wider family. We have always found every staff member to be professional, knowledgeable and caring and above all, friendly!
Mum was struggling at home and had been in hospital and it was time to find a care home that had Mum as a priority and I knew she was safe. The staff at Bickerton House work above and beyond to make Mum feel so welcome. They call me to let me know if she has had a bad night - they inform me what she has been doing. It is home from home. She says the food is amazing, her room is spotless, there are activities every day and she is teaching a few staff to knit which makes her feel needed. It was the best decision I ever made and Mum is so happy. They also arranged a 90th birthday garden party for her and were happy for her family to attend - with a singer too! Thank you Bickerton for making my mum happy which makes me happy.
My dad moved to Bickerton House from another care home in March 2024. He settled into his new surroundings fairly quickly through thoughtful attention from the staff. We have been very impressed by both the facilities provided and, in particular, the friendly, caring staff. When we visit Dad and take him to the coffee 'shop' and to visit the gardens, all the staff seem to know Dad by name and always have a friendly word to say to him. We were also impressed by the effort put in by the staff for events that had been organised, such as the D-Day celebration and the sports day, the latter supported by local school children linked to the care home. The management team have been efficient throughout and always say hello when we visit. Sadly, Dad's health deteriorated and he passed away at the home. During this difficult time, the staff were excellent and looked after Dad and us with great care, attention and dignity. We have been very pleased with the whole experience provided at Bickerton.
To date, my experience has been excellent. The care my mother has received has been first-class and has improved dramatically since her arrival, nursing and care staff are attentive and all management staff are supportive and very approachable.
Moving Mum into care was a difficult decision but due to a worsening respiratory condition and the onset of dementia, it was necessary for her safety and well-being. We visited several facilities but Bickerton was by far the nicest we saw - great facilities, cleanliness, quality of resident rooms and friendliness of staff. We moved Mum from Scotland to be closer to us which was complex but the customer relations manager and the team were so helpful in helping us navigate this process. Since being at Bickerton House, Mum's health has actually improved. She is in nursing care due to her use of oxygen but her breathing has improved, her mobility is better and she is very happy being there. The staff are excellent, they always make us feel welcome when we visit, making a special effort with my young children in particular. We've also attended a couple of Bickerton's events over the summer as a family, which has been great. Thank you to all at Bickerton for the excellent care you're providing to Mum.
I'm sure like most people, facing the fact that your loved one needs to make the move to supported living, can be so hard. We all came to realise, Dad included, that the time was now. Then comes the worrying time of finding the right home, with the best care. But then came Bickerton House. Initially it was for the close proximity to my sister but once we stepped foot inside, we were sold. The first thing was the smiling, warm faces greeting us by the staff. Next came the cleanliness and how well the facilities went beyond our expectations. It smelt so clean and fresh and was so bright and inviting. The residents we met appeared so at home and there was such a calmness to the environment. We were navigated so professionally through the process of arranging Dad's placement, which really made the whole transition smooth and so less stressful. Within 2 weeks Dad was settled in his new home. We can't thank the staff for all their help, kindness and professionalism. An amazing team.
Mum has been at Bickerton House since January 2024. She is receiving nursing care and I can say that the staff looking after her have been very professional and caring. What's good is that they take action when they see a need in a timely fashion, with evolving medical conditions for example. This gives our family great comfort. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and there are events every day including trips out in the minibus. I am very happy with the care that Mum has received at Bickerton House.
Very happy with Bickerton House. My mother is receiving excellent care in a happy and positive environment. All the staff have been wonderful and have a a great approach to balancing the needs of residents, health care, general day-to-day living, etc.
I have been in this home for just under a year. Am now doing a lot more activities including a exercise class 3 times a week. Every day there is an activity it might be a singer or games. The food is good and you get a choice of what you want to eat. The staff are always happy to help and have smiles on their faces. Last but not least the cakes are lovely.
