View Full Details of Atlas - The Ness Dementia CentreI cannot rate The Ness centre highly enough, it is the whole package which impresses me, from picking up my husband from home to dropping him off again. He always returns happy, well fed, stimulated, exercised. It is clear to me he receives appropriate attention both to his physical, personal needs, as well as his mental and social needs. The staff are brilliant and a credit to the organisation and the manager; they clearly care, are friendly, always smiling and nothing asked is too much. What I also appreciate is the little booklet which shows what he has been doing during the day and what he has had for lunch. A good holistic approach which seems to benefit both my husband and myself (24/7 care let's not forget). The environment is welcoming and airy with bright colours which makes it a happy and cheerful place, with a separate area for lunch.
I am commenting on the home outreach service rather than the care home as my mother only attended 2-3 times. The activities that are reported are enjoyed by my mother. One improvement would be the communication. It has taken time to get the management to get the correct contact names and details e.g. this is addressed to my sister and not me which is incorrect still. Also - if a different person is going to visit mother we should be informed beforehand.
I am so thankful that I was introduced to The Ness Dementia Centre. Their dedication and expertise along with their conscientious care and support has been immensely valuable to me during a difficult time. Their enabling service has been a great help to my husband and he looks forward to his twice-weekly visits.
I cannot speak highly enough of Atlas - The Ness Dementia Centre. My husband was so cared for in all aspects while he was in their wonderful happy, safe environment. All the staff are so caring, patient and supportive. It gave him a place of fun, stimulation, friendships and it also gave me peace of mind while he attended there 4 days a week. My husband was one of the first to start at The Ness and continued going for 18 months. Due to his Dementia becoming worse he has now had to go into full-time care. I hope others will use the brilliant facilities that Atlas - The Ness Dementia Centre provide. I would highly recommend placing my loved one there!!
We have found the centre staff very welcoming and understanding of each individual. Everybody is encouraged to join in all activities, which are many and varied.
I feel totally confident that mum is well cared for, stimulated and safe with the staff at The Ness.
The Ness centre has been a lifeline for both myself but more so for my husband with early onset Alzheimer’s there is no other daycare like this around and the care is superb I cannot praise them highly enough
My Husband attends The Ness Dementia Centre in Teignmouth twice a week and really enjoys going . All the staff are extremely caring and make the time spent there a wonderful experience with all the different activities they provide .
My mother attends The Ness Dementia Centre twice a week. She suffers from dementia and her attendance is not only of great benefit to her and something that she looks forward to but also provides valuable and much-needed respite for my father who is her full-time carer. Mum gets very little stimulus at home and knowing that twice a week she is out of the house in a place that is stimulating and engaging, run by people who understand her condition and who truly care for her health and well being provides great comfort to all of us.
We were nervous at first to introduce The Ness Centre into my grandmother's routine. She has become uncomfortable with trying new things and in new surroundings. The team at The Ness were fantastic though, they understood how difficult it was and they were patient and focused on ensuring she became comfortable and settled in. We have since increased the number of days to two times a week and we can see a definite difference on the days when she has been to the Ness Centre. It has now become a vital part of her week.
My mother-in-law doesn't live locally but uses this centre when she is staying with us. It is run by the most caring, thoughtful and sincere manager. He really takes time to get to know the people in his care and to make them feel at ease. It’s one of those organisations where the great attitude of those “in charge” runs through the whole team: everyone who looks after nana is brilliant. It’s not an easy job, but you wouldn’t know that to see these people really enjoying what they do. Thank you.
