View Full Details of Copelands Dementia and Residential CareA month in and we are utterly delighted with dad moving to Copelands. It really is the next level in care. Full of heart, warmth and staff who really enjoy working there. Then there is the location and building design - Wow! It will be even better still when the nursing care section opens. A great, exceptional place!
Copelands is a fine example of how care of the elderly should be provided. I did not realise that a facility like this even existed. Full marks to all the staff from the management right through to the support staff and the carers! Well done! The whole family is delighted that we found this place.
This is a lovely care home to walk into. The decor is gorgeous. It is stylish, bright and welcoming. The staff are very caring and friendly. They seem to know the residents really well and their fondness for them is tangible. My dear friend that I visit regularly is usually found sitting in the attractive day room whose huge picture windows ensure the room is flooded with light. Sometimes she is playing dominoes. Sometimes she is sitting contentedly nursing a cup of tea. There are activities laid on every afternoon. There is a hairdressers. Today I noticed that her nails were beautifully manicured and she liked to show them off. There is a lovely cafe with wonderful sea views. It feels as though we are taking her out for a while although the reality is the cafe is accessed just down a pleasant corridor and through a glass panelled door. Copelands deserves its 5 star rating.
Overall very pleasant surroundings and in a very tasteful decorative state. The care is excellent, very friendly staff who get to know the residents very well. That includes care workers, cleaners and office staff. The kitchen staff are great and get to know what residents like to eat. The cafe is an excellent place for visitors and residents. Just a small recommendation is that maybe a little more things for the residents to do. Activities or entertainment.
My mother has been a resident in Copelands for four weeks and in that time we have seen an improvement in her mobility, health and well-being and heard her laugh for the first time in months. The management has been supportive and informative to both my mother-in-law and us as a family in making the decision to move from home to residential care. They are very hands on and set a great example to the rest of the staff team with their friendliness and attitude. The staff team - whether care workers, catering or ancillary - are like an extended family always finding time to chat and provide one-to-one support through practical help and activities. The accommodation is beautifully designed and decorated with a comfortable elegance. Private rooms are large and en-suite with everything necessary for daily living. I would stress that it is the care and support shown by the management and staff to residents and family members that sets Copelands in a category of it's own.
My mum was very content and happy during her stay at Copelands. The facilities, activities, and view were exceptional. The staff were very caring and supportive to my mums needs. She also really enjoyed the weekly church service at the home and the hairdressers!
The ratings (good) signify room for improvement. In-house communication could be much improved. Advance notice of events/arrangements is poor.
My mum has been a resident in Copelands Dementia and Residential Care now for nearly six months and I couldn't speak highly enough about the care she has received from the staff or the Copelands facility itself. Mum moved into the dementia care facility and I have just been so impressed with the care, the space, the welcome and the activities on offer. Their Covid protocols have impressed me as being safe and pragmatic and ensuring residents don't become isolated in the event of an outbreak. My mum had been in a previous care facility that I believe genuinely got their Covid restrictions wrong and this led to isolation and a poor outcome, particularly for my mum. Mum is in such a better place now she is a resident at Copelands. The main thing to recommend Copelands is not the beautiful building, grounds or view, it's the staff - all of whom have had dementia training and work together in a way that I have not experienced before - it is clearly for the residents' benefit. We feel blessed Mum is a resident at Copelands.
I can honestly say that I can't recommend Copelands Dementia and Residential Care highly enough - on every level - the accommodation, the location of the premises (beautiful sea views on the coast), the food, the atmosphere, the standard of care and, most of all, every single member of the incredibly dedicated and caring staff. My mum, who was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2018, moved in in April of this year, having lived at home until then and we are all - including, most importantly, Mum herself - delighted at how she has settled in. The last year has been very difficult for our family, having lost my father last November after a long period of illness and having suffered the sudden bereavement of another close family member - but from the word go, the staff and management at Copelands have been beyond helpful and supportive - not just to Mum but to all of us. Mum never stops saying how fantastic the staff are, that they can't do enough to help - and I wholeheartedly agree with her!
We have been delighted with the care and support our mother has received from the staff at Copelands Dementia and Residential Care and believe Mum could not receive the level of individual care and attention in any other home. They are always quick to respond when any issues arise and always willing to facilitate when possible. The surroundings are five-star and state of the art complemented with five restaurant quality food, the addition of the café allows you to converse with Mum and friends in a wonderful setting.
My mum has now been a resident in a dementia unit at the Copelands Dementia and Residential Care for almost a year and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody. All the management and support staff are approachable, professional, caring and keen to do whatever to make Mum comfortable. They encourage her to join in during activities but also respond to the individual wants and needs of residents on a one-to-one basis. The standards of housekeeping are exceptional and the domiciliary team members are always on the go. The standard of catering is also excellent with a varied and nutritious menu which changes regularly and individual meals are often adapted to suit the appetite of the resident. What I find really heartwarming is that all staff members from the different functions interact with the residents on a day-to-day basis which I believe helps the residents to feel at home.
We are so impressed and delighted with Copelands Dementia and Residential Care and Mum has settled in really well. The staff are truly wonderful; kind, caring and efficient. The whole place has a feeling of community and homely normality. You only have to see the quality of the building and furnishings, not to mention the views, to realise that this place is special but it's the super staff who make the place so outstanding.
A beautiful home with an excellent standard of care. Facilities for residents and families are of a high standard. There are places to sit quietly or to go for a chat. The worship space gives place for reflection and regular services held are enjoyed by residents. All of these things contribute to Copelands Dementia and Residential Care feeling like home and not just a place to live.
Amazing staff who are extremely kind, skilled and genuinely passionate to help Mum and all other residents have a happy and fulfilling environment every day. Mum's best interests are at the heart of everything they do. I have also experienced how everyone at Copelands Dementia and Residential Care also has time for me as Alzheimer's disease can be difficult to watch Mum losing her memories and is so emotional. Mum has been in Copelands for seven months and I trust everyone as I see how Mum is treated daily, I am always kept up to date on Mum's progress. She has built up great relationships with the kitchen staff as well as carers and leaders. Mum enjoys all activities. When Mum is anxious the team are brilliant at reassuring Mum. I now look at the team at Copelands as our extended family and can't thank them enough. Making decisions to find the right care home for our loved ones is an extremely tough and emotional decision and I am so happy we eventually found the right place for Mum and highly recommend Copelands.
I visited lots of care homes looking for somewhere for my mum to live as she was no longer managing alone. Mum has now been in Copelands Dementia and Residential Care for three months. It is the most amazing place. I love it and, more importantly, so does Mum. The facilities are great and all the staff are just lovely. I feel so welcome and part of the place. Mum still has full independence with any support she needs. Plenty of activities when she wants them and company when it suits her. I can't find one criticism. Everyone, staff, relatives and residents all seem very happy.
The experience I have had at Copelands Dementia and Residential Care since my mother became a resident has been outstanding. It was a very difficult time for our mother and the whole family during the transition of her settling in. The last two months, unfortunately, have been an outbreak of Covid but the way the staff handled the whole situation has been reassuring for myself and my siblings. I would highly recommend Copelands as they are very professional, caring, considerate and I feel my mum is blessed being a resident.
