View Full Details of Barchester Mortain Place Care HomeOur relative was at Mortain for just over 1 year. His increasing vascular dimensia was well cared for by the staff and he was overall content. We were happy with the support he received until his recent death with efficiently, and staff were very friendly to us when we visited. Although the costs were considerable we are happy with the quality of the facility and the standard of care.
Beautifully clean caring Care Home. All staff from the beginning to our ongoing time there is amazing, from reception to entertainment staff, carers to cooks and cleaning staff nothing is ever too much for everyone even when residents needs change often.
I had a fall and fractured my pelvis and broke three rubs. As I had previously visited Barchester Mortain Place Care Home and was very impressed, on my release from hospital, I elected to come here. I have food allergies which are catered for beautifully. I am happy to be here and to be cared for by such caring friendly staff. My friends and family are welcome to visit whenever they wish.
As soon as we arrived to be shown round Barchester Mortain Place Care Home, we knew it was the place for Mum. All the staff go up and above to meet Mum's needs. As for Mum, she has settled quickly and is so happy. Your brochure does not do it justice, you need to actually visit to understand the welcome you get each time you visit and see the facilities. Each member of staff knows each resident, treating each as an individual, which gives it a lovely personal touch.
We looked at this home a year and a half ago knowing my mum would eventually have to go into full-time care, so decided to look again at this home and we're still impressed. My mum has now settled in and fully adjusted, she calls it a hotel. The care she receives is brilliant and talking to the staff fills you with confidence for your loved one, the food is exceptional here as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home.
I felt my relative was treated with care, dignity and genuine affection. Staff were always polite and cheery and had time to answer any queries. There seemed to be a good range of activities. Food was plentiful with good quality and choice. We were always informed of any falls or medical issues. We have never regretted choosing Barchester Mortain Place Care Home.
I came in for respite after a hip replacement and wanted to be as independent as possible in order to get home. The staff supported me and kept a firm eye on me to make sure I was coping, taking instant and appropriate action when my blood pressure became too high. Everything about the service I received was excellent.
Mum has been a resident for over two and a half years and as a family, we feel she is kept safe at all times.
My stay has given me confidence to go home. I needed this two-week stay - my broken arm has improved the swelling has gone down and I am using it even writing. With good food and incredible care, I am now in a better place. Thank you.
I enjoyed my stay, the food and the activities are very good. The staff are kind and helpful. I have been very pleased with my stay.
We have been residents of Barchester Mortain Place Care Home for three months. The kindness and care we have received is above and beyond anything we expected from the whole staff.
Mum went into Barchester Mortain Place Care Home for respite care and didn't want to leave at the end of the month. She is now there on a permanent basis. The carers are wonderful with her, look after her really well and encourage her to join in with activities. Now she is in Mortain Place, she moves around more, eats healthier food and watches less TV. She no longer needs to worry about shopping, preparing meals or doing the laundry. Visitors are welcome and can sit in the bistro area or go to one of the lounges, which are like being in a hotel and much better than having to sit in her room. There is a nice outdoor area for when the weather is accommodating. It's very reassuring for me to know that she is being looked after, eating well, taking her medication and never on her own.
My nan came to stay at Barchester Mortain Place Care Home after breaking her hip at home. After being pulled from pillar to post to hospitals and rehab hospitals, the doctors said she was finally able to go home although our family didn't feel that she should be alone. I found Mortain Place after a neighbour had recommended it and thought it was absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble, if my nan didn't like anything on the menu they would make her something special, they had spa baths which was a treat as Nan could only use a shower and they had lots of things for her to do, her favourite was the word games in the bistro as a lot of the residents would get together with the drinks and cake. I would highly recommend and Nan would happily go back if need be.
Mortain is amazing. My sister-in-law is staying here for respite. She loves everything about it and is contemplating becoming a resident. It is kept very clean and the entire staff are helpful and can’t do enough for her, nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend this establishment to anyone. Thank you to everyone at Mortain.
I've been here three years, badly disabled after falling down stairs. I have no close relations. As you see I have selected excellent ratings for every category because that really is how I have found Barchester Mortain Place Care Home. I put on weight with all the good food - I outgrew the top part of my dresses. A laundry lady offered to adapt my dresses in her own time, free of charge. Over three years, I have had ten such dresses. She's a lovely lady and excellent seamstress. All dresses look so neat and professional and now comfortable. She won't take any money and always shares chocolates I buy instead. I have other examples from carers, activity staff and others too, numerous to describe here. I'm never bored or lonely, I only have to ask for help and it's promptly given. The staff are warm and friendly and very professional as well. I will say though that I think your own (residents) mindset is important. I'm very glad and happy to be here.
After falling and given the deterioration of her physical (and slight mental) health meant living in a warden-controlled property with no on-site care was proving impractical. After an initial 30 days respite here following 2 weeks in the local hospital, she asked to remain and her physical health has improved tremendously. After 18 months of restricted mobility due to wheelchair use, now 3 months later, she is using a walker and is much more active. She has a greatly improved social life, new interests and there has been no decline in her mental faculties.
My mum came for a respite break and is now staying on as a permanent resident. All the way through the process of choosing a home to settling in all the staff were very helpful, kind and professional. She likes her room with a view of birds and squirrels in the gardens and seems to have taken to 'armchair tennis'.
My mother moved into Barchester Mortain Place in October of 2023. When we first walked into the home to view it, I was amazed at how the atmosphere felt. It had a great feeling of warmth and love. All the carers and staff are first class, they always have a smile and a friendly greeting. I feel that my mum is in a safe place where she is looked after but more than that she is genuinely cared for. There is always something going on and the entertainment team is second to none. I cannot speak highly enough of the team, the food, the quality of the care and the cleanliness of all public and private rooms Whenever I bring anyone to visit Mum, they are all of the same opinion. Over Christmas, there was so much fun and laughter. The presents that all the residents received were picked with care and suitability. I believe that we are very fortunate in our decision with Mortain Place and I love to see the smile on my mum's face when I come to visit.
Helping a client get settled into Mortain Place. Staff were friendly, accommodating, patient and understanding. I spoke to a resident's daughter who visited regularly, she had nothing but praise for everyone who worked there. The enrichment staff actually brought in a bouncy castle, which I couldn't believe! They loved it, then invited some of the staff's small relatives to make the most of it, which I thought was a lovely touch.
I was pleasantly surprised by Barchester Mortain Place Care Home. I came to visit my aunt from Lincolnshire and was offered lunch, which was delicious. Three courses, fantastic. The home was clean and jolly with word games being played in the bistro area.
