View Full Details of Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing HomeMy Nan was not cared for adequately at this home. On 2 occasions whilst I was there she was given food she was intolerant to, despite this being listed on her notes. When Nan was in there for 3 weeks staff were surprised to learn that Nan had terminal cancer, and was registered blind. The manager explained these details were on her notes but she couldn't make the staff read them. As a result Nans needs weren't met. Staff rarely switched her telly on and we'd regularly find her sat in bed with the door closed and no tv on. Any activities the home had never included those that were bed bound. Pet visits, singers or entertainment were never extended to anyone who couldn't get out of bed. I asked a carer if they could change nans bed as it was soiled, but I was told no as she was bed bound. This was rectified once we complained and other staff sorted it. On my visits it was clear that nans needs weren't being met. My mum & aunt had regular meetings with the manager, but not much changed.
We have found we have been well looked after everyone has been so kind to us and we thank you very much.
The staff, care levels, and attention to learning who we children are in relation to our mum is exceptional. From the first visit, I understood the comments of all the staff. Our mum is cared for, clean and very safe. I cannot put into words how much pressure and stress has been removed from my life having mum here. Mum has joined in from day one, settled well and indeed thriving here. Thank you to all.
This care home has been excellent with my wife. She's well cared for and the staff are all brilliant. The food on offer is amazing and always served lovely and hot. Her room is always clean and tidy. An excellent place overall.
I find all the staff very caring and professional. They have helped me greatly in my rehab and I am forever grateful.
I came into Fernley Court for respite after major surgery so that I could recover enough to look after my disabled husband. Not knowing what to expect, after two weeks it is now my absolute pleasure to write a review on Fernley Court as a "tick box" would never do this beautiful care home justice! The building itself would rival any five-star hotel..the decor is so subtle and so tasteful. The food is delicious, beautifully presented with lots of choice and always served with a smile. Most importantly every single member of staff gives us 100% of their caring attention. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Fernley Court only a very big heartfelt thank you from the bottom of my heart to a particular member of staff and all the team.
I am so grateful for everything everyone does for my mother. The staff are so very helpful, caring, kind and friendly. I feel so blessed she is living in such a beautiful care home. Thank you so very much.
If you're ever worried about whether you're making the right decision about putting a loved one in a home, try not to be. Fernleigh Court has changed my views on care homes, as this is a lovely setting. All of the staff at Fernleigh Court Care Home took such good care of my mum in her final few days. Although she didn't know where she was, they treated her with the utmost care and respect. I also cannot thank them enough for every smile, hello, or wave I received during my visits to, this meant so much to me. No matter what section of the home staff work in, I will never forget their kindness, they were all wonderful. It's a beautiful care home that they can be very proud of. My mum's only wish in life was to not be put in a home, but sadly due to her circumstances, this couldn't be avoided towards the end. However, I couldn't have picked a nicer place for her and I'm sure if she had known, she would have been happy with her placement. Forever grateful for their kindness.
As a family, we feel privileged to have mum being so well looked after at Fernleigh Court. Mum is currently enjoying 6 weeks of respite care. She is very well looked after for all her many health needs. All her needs are met including consideration of her mental health and emotional wellbeing. The environment is more like a nice hotel than a nursing home and the meals are superb. The rooms are lovely and have everything she needs. The team gently ensure that she eats her meals in the dining room, rather than staying in her room all day, and that she gets the opportunity to enjoy a variety of social events. We really are very grateful for the love and support given to our mum. As relatives, the team are considerate of our feelings too and always find time to answer our questions and put our minds at rest about how she is. We would definitely recommend Fernleigh Court to anyone considering residential care. Thank you Fernleigh Court.
It is the first time my wife has been in a care home, and what a surprise. With the willingness of the staff and the comfort she receives from them, she soon was quite at home and amount friends. It was not long before we felt we had made the right choice. it would be wrong of me to name any individual because everyone had the one thing in mind - to do their very best for the residents.
My mum arrived at Fernleigh Court on 21st May and was already at the end of life. The staff took great care of her. I could not find fault in their care, commitment and friendliness. The place itself was very modern, clean and welcoming. Mum didn't eat any food whilst there so I can't comment on that. If ever I need a care home myself I will seriously consider Fernleigh. Thank your whole team.
Although my mum was only at the home for six days, we were very happy that she came to you. Her care was first-class, and we are so thankful she passed away in such a lovely place! The home is more like a hotel than a nursing home. We would definitely recommend Fernleigh Court to anyone looking for a good home.
My mother was a resident at Fernleigh Court for just over a year. She was very frail with dementia. She was bedridden. Her behaviour was very challenging at times. During my visits, I always found the staff welcoming, approachable and willing to discuss mothers' care. They showed my mother great understanding and kindness also respect. The staff were exemplary to my mother and my family at her end of life.
My mum was a resident at Fernleight Court for just over a year. She had dementia and other health issues. From the moment she became a resident the care she received was exemplary. Every member of staff treated her with respect and care. Despite being nursed in bed she did not have bed sores and she was always clean and well-dressed and all her needs were met. In her final days at Fernleigh before she passed away my sister, brother and I was with her, and we also received care and compassion from the staff who arranged a guest room for us to use, offered food and drinks and showed genuine concern. We felt that our mum was not only cared for but loved by the staff. Thank you.
Fernleigh Court is brilliant, it has amazing staff who give 100%. I'm made to feel very welcome and it provides excellent care with lovely facilities. I'd highly recommend it.
Made to feel welcome any issues are addressed, compassionately, sensitively, and promptly. The food is very tasty and a great variety. Care is of a very high standard and working with me to achieve my goals. Would definitely recommend it. I was anxious when I left the hospital but the staff have been very good.
Mum came here after a short stay in hospital and we were very pleased to find such a nice place with excellent care and facilities. We were amazed by the standard of food which was like a 5-star hotel and we know she enjoyed what was served. Care and nursing staff were outstanding and we thank them for looking after her so well.
The standard of food has gone down with dishes often being inedible as the pasta is hard/cold or meat too tough. There are many wonderful staff but the night staff aren't as good and it's taken a lot of asking to get simple things done like hearing aids charged and put in first thing. Mum was often still without them at 10-11 o clock. It's a basic need for her and I wish I hadn't had to keep asking... it made it very stressful for me at a time when things were hard enough. I can't sing the praises highly enough for some of the staff... they're kind and compassionate. Just a little more effort could make this home a great one rather than adequate.
This review is negative, it is based on documentary evidence obtained from a number of sources via Access to Health Records Act 1990. My findings demonstrate what goes on behind the scenes of a ‘posh’ nursing home. This review is published in the public interest. Nurses failed to register my mother with a GP or complete temporary GP registration. My mother was not administered with pain relief even though pain relief medication was supplied on transfer & booked in (MAR). Nurses ran out of prescribed medication, MAR details a raft of incompetence. MAR details a GP that retired 7 years previously & not registered with GMC. Baycroft obtained JIC medication on day 6 later despite my mother's repeated complaints of nausea & vomiting from day 1. My mother had a 1:1 carer. She was left unattended & discovered with her leg wedged through the bed rail, no apparent injury. Baycroft nurses failed to seek professional palliative care (Mother was on the palliative care register) The list goes on.
Mum has settled in well. Good quality of care, accommodation and staff. Activities team work hard and residents are encouraged to introduce new ideas to the schedule. I find the monthly meetings for family members of benefit.
