View Full Details of Barchester Melbourn Springs Care HomeVery impressed with the caring staff and level of care offered. Mum stayed a week for respite care. The home is very clean and smart. The dining room bright and airy with proper linen table cloths, comfortable chairs and delicious meals from a varied menu. Tea and coffee and cakes available all day. Efficiently run and very smooth check in and departure. Brilliant entertainment offered as well. Would highly recommend.
Most importantly, the staff are extremely helpful and kind. I will have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
My 97-year-old mother has been a resident for well over years, during which time she has received 'excellent' care. Even during the Covid emergency, the home provided 'exceptional' resident support. The place has always felt like a 'family' home due to its very high standards of care, entertainment and general maintenance (not forgetting the fabulous food)! The current local management is the best yet, they listen and act upon any issues very promptly and communication has improved greatly.
My husband has been in Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home for just over a year. The carers all treat him with respect, compassion and are always very supportive. He was born in Liverpool so has that wonderful sense of humour which is reciprocated by all the staff making him smile. He especially enjoys those activities which involve music and animals. The home is kept so clean and fresh which I know is hard work and the food is delicious. If you don't like what you see they will always provide something else. It is so comfortable, like a home from home. It took me a long time to find the right place for him. It is comforting for me to know that he is in safe hands and happy.
My Mother in Law lived at Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home for 5 months before she passed away in November 2024. She also went there for respite stays a few times over the years leading up to moving there permanently. We cannot fault this care home. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and the food is really good. The staff are all so caring and kind - especially one member of staff in particular who was exceptionally kind and caring (both to my husband and I, and to my mother in law). Melbourn Springs is a wonderful place. Thank you very much for everything you did.
Excellent care and service provided to my mum. She was staying at Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home for 3 months respite care, following regular hospital visits after falls at home. She has settled in so well, we have decided to change her stay to permanent resident, which mum is very happy with. The staff not only give mum confidence with her mobility and medication care, she doesn't have to worry about her meals and housekeeping. This is great for her family too, as all the staff are so friendly and helpful that we have every confidence that they will ensure mum continues to be happy and well cared for. Thank you to all the staff at Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home
My mum has been a resident for three months. The staff are incredibly compassionate and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure the well-being and comfort of their residents. The facilities are clean and well maintained creating a welcoming and safe environment. My mum enjoys the variety of activities offered. We were also delighted that during the summer we were able to use one of the lounges to visit with extended family and are always offered a coffee/tea. Overall I would highly recommend Melbourn Springs to anyone seeking a caring and supportive environment for their loved ones. The dedication of the staff and the quality of care provided have made a significant difference in Mum's life.
A wonderful team who supported my father with care, dignity and kindness throughout his stay during good and more challenging times, when Dad's health was not as good. As a family, we have been kept up to date at all times and always made to feel welcome when visiting. I cannot thank them enough.
As my father-in-law's condition has declined, we have had to make the difficult decisions about his care. Initially, Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home was able to move him to a specialist dementia community. The staff and management could not have been more helpful and supportive of us in making the decision and then moving my father-in-law. His care on the unit was excellent - we cannot thank the staff enough. Sadly, his condition has progressed further and we have had to move him to a home that can provide nursing care. Again, they were very supportive of us in the decision and the move. We are very grateful to them for this. We have been fortunate that space was available in a home in the same group - minimising the administration and speeding the process. The Melbourn Springs staff were only concerned about what was best for him at all times.
My mum has recently moved to Barchester Melbourn Springs and we couldn't be happier with her care. The cheerful, friendly, helpful staff have made all the difference to her overall experience of having to move away from her own home. The care team have been wonderful, there are always a variety of activities on offer, the food is good and plentiful and the overall environment is clean and welcoming.
Staff pleasant and supportive in arranging weeks respite at Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home for my mother. Unfortunately, she did not enjoy the experience and wanted to return home. She stayed only 5 days in the dementia care unit.
My mother (close to her century) moved in ten weeks ago. The staff, especially carers and assistants, all show excellent and significant support and genuine care. The home appears well-run and definitely gives a good feeling on every visit that I have made. The food has come in for regular comments; it does not really match the description on the menu and sounds like it could be presented better. I understand that a new chef is expected...I would probably give five-star but for this issue. As my mother said, "I came here expecting everything to be easier and better but the food does not reach my expectations". The activity organisers seem really enthusiastic and encouraging, although my mother does not feel like doing everything offered! A team leader also took on board some of my comments, made some improvements to my mother's environment after a recent fall. The handyman made my mother at home when she first moved in. I would be happy to recommend Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home to others.
Excellent service, my aunt is happy, healthy and comfortable. Melbourn Springs is clean, tidy, the staff are friendly, efficient, seem very skilled, and are welcoming when I visit... My aunt is well cared for.
We cannot fault the care staff at all! Particularly the care assistant, the caregiver and the team leader. As a family, we feel the care provided by the caregiver and the care assistant is above and beyond our expectations. We are very impressed with the effort the activities team put into organising entertainment for the residents. My grandmother has taken part in many games, watched some fabulous performances from singers and dancers and enjoyed trips out on the bus many times. We do feel there is often a breakdown in communication from management and senior staff which often causes confusion and can be very frustrating.
Friendly, kind, caring, helpful, approachable and respectful. Just some of the qualities of the management and staff at Melbourn Springs. Taking on board any issues or concerns raised and acting efficiently and effectively to deal with them. A lovely group of residents that interact well together and with the staff.
My mother-in-law moved in a few months ago. She is well looked after, the carers are very friendly and care deeply about the residents. Any request I make is acted upon quickly. My feedback is heard if something needs to change. The environment is lovely and the food is very nice.
Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home is amazing. My mum is so happy and tells me all the time. The care and kindness is second to none. It feels like a well-looked-after home, not a care home. My mum’s room is lovely. Nicer than her room in her flat. Happy Mum, happy us!
My mother has been in Barchester Melbourn Springs Care Home for about one year. We expected it to take time for her to settle in, having previously lived independently for over twenty years, but she felt at home almost straight away. It is not only a very safe and comfortable place but the care provided has been excellent.
Mum has been in Melbourne for several weeks. As a lady who loves her food, she is bitterly disappointed with the whole experience. Breakfast - if having a cooked breakfast that has been fine. There is no granola-type option or fruit. Lunch - as a person who generally loves fish - Friday fish has been meagre portions, and described by mum as “the worst fish I’ve ever eaten.” Very little or no fresh vegetables, eg on Sunday just a few carrots, no fresh green vegetables. Insufficient meat. Evening meal, soup - generally okay, Fresh home-baked bread listed on the menu is not available. Sandwiches - poor quality bread, no salad or coleslaw to go with it. Mum is used to having salad every day. On the day she chose cheese and biscuits she was given 2 crackers and when asked for more was told there may not be enough! Eventually, she was given 2 more. Fruit salad is often listed but not always available. The dining room looks appealing, and the menu looks attractive, but what’s delivered does not match.
My great-nan lives in memory lane and the care is amazing. A particular care assistant and my great-nan get on very well and they are very friendly and caring. My great-nan always looks much happier and better when they are in work.
