View Full Details of BrushwoodWithin the time that my Mother has been in the care of Brushwood Nursing Home there have been nine Managers in just under three years. There have been multiple reports from family and staff about the compliance of care.
My mum has been in Brushwood for three years. The care she receives is second to none. The staff are dedicated and kind. Her room is always clean with fresh white sheets on the bed every day. The staff are encouraging Mum to get involved in activities and l have seen an improvement in her well-being and she is engaging more with me. I cannot praise this care home enough regarding the standard of care my mum receives.
We are so happy with the way the home and its staff are now run. Yes, we had problems in the past from our experience of the home, but now it seems that they are in the past and working through to hopefully make a bright future.
My aunt has been at Brushwood for some time now. She is not the easiest of people to deal with, but even so, the whole team on Houseman have been marvellous with her. She is in much better shape physically here than in any of her previous care settings, and there have been a few. The staff have shown nothing but kindness and affection towards my aunt and often go above and beyond their already professional responsibilities. When there are problems, they are dealt with swiftly and professionally. The new management has demonstrated their desire to improve life for the residents with lots of good ideas being implemented, and I am very happy that my aunt is at Brushwood.
My mum spent a year at Brushwood and the care, kindness and love she received from all members of staff were exceptional. Nursing and personal care were carried out professionally and with such professionalism. We, as a family, cannot rate Brushwood highly enough. The standard of cleanliness throughout the building is so high we feel it should be held up as an example of what can be achieved in such settings. We cannot thank the staff enough for all that they have done for our mum. They are all very special people who we will never forget and be eternally grateful that our mum was cared for by them.
Brushwood is a fantastic care home. The staff are amazing and genuinely love each and every one of their residents. The home itself is kept very clean and orderly and always very welcoming. My nan is well-loved by all of the lovely staff here who she equally adores. She has dementia, but you can tell the fondness she has for them by the look on her face, how she lights up when she sees them. I can't thank them enough for the care and dedication they provide. Highly recommended place of residence for anyone's loved ones.
My mother has been resident in a nursing wing at Brushwood since Sept 2021. The home has faced many challenges during this last year - the Covid pandemic of course and also not one, but two CQC inspections. The overall CQC rating remains 'Requires Improvement'. This rating is not very helpful to someone looking at the home as a possibility, as it does not fully reflect the standard of work that has been achieved in the home during the pandemic and during the ongoing crisis in social care. The staff we have observed have always behaved in a caring and professional manner towards the residents and their families. Brushwood's approach to visiting during the pandemic was to put the needs of the residents first and to allow visiting with a realistic and pragmatic approach to Covid security. This certainly worked well for our family. The staff on my mother's unit know the residents well, manage their care effectively and treat residents with the dignity they deserve.
What a lovely day we all had on Thursday at Brushwood. It was the Queen’s jubilee party, residents, carers, family and friends danced away and sang along with Elvis Presley tribute. Plenty of beautiful food and drink (juice) all staff went above and beyond to make the day a special one. Well done guys. Much love.
My dad has been in Brushwood for two years and I am happy with the care he is receiving from the lovely staff and management. He looks well and the staff are very caring with him. The dedicated staff make sure he is kept clean and they do a lot of activities, which is really good.
My mum has been a resident in Brushwood since October 2021. I have nothing but praise for all of the staff. From the receptionist, to the actual nurses and care workers. As a family, we wanted the best for my mum and we believe we found that in Brushwood. The staff go over and above to ensure not only my mum, but we as a family are made to feel comfortable and looked after. They keep us up to date with everything and just little things, like remembering our names and asking how we are. I want to give special credit to one team member in particular, who like all the staff goes over and above to ensure my mum is happy in Brushwood.
My dad has been at brushwood for nearly two years. He’s very well looked after by staff and management, and as a family, it’s heartbreaking having to make the decision your loved one needs to go into a nursing home and not be able to remain at home. After a very difficult time, the last two years have brought us, all the staff were kindly video calling our family so our dad could see and hear us. This was heartbreaking as he’d cry and would be wondering why we were not visiting. The staff reassured us they were constantly telling our dad it’s due to covid, however, we now visit and are happy with the environment he’s living in and the kind caring people looking after him. So thank you, to the staff at Brushwood for your dedication and care.
My nan has been a resident at Brushwood now for about 6/7 months and I honestly cannot praise the whole team highly enough. The team at Brushwood really do go above and beyond to care for my nan. They prioritise her well-being above all else. Some team members come in, even on their days off to visit my nan, or take her to church on a Friday morning. It is truly amazing the things they do for her. She is currently in the early/mid-stages of dementia. The whole team of staff know exactly what they’re doing and how best to keep my nan engaged and active. The community at Brushwood really feel like an extension of our own family and it’s a real pleasure to go in to visit my nan twice a week, knowing that I will be welcomed in by everyone there. Throughout my visits, people will pop their heads in, say hi and offer to grab cups of tea or coffee for us. They honestly cannot do enough to accommodate both my nan and also us as family. I cannot recommend Brushwood highly enough!
My friend was a resident of Brushwood Care Home for over a year. She received excellent care from dedicated staff. As a visitor I was always made to feel welcome, even through difficult covid times, and was always kept fully informed about my friend’s care. I would highly recommend this care home.
My wife went into Brushwood from another care home. The change in her was immediate. The care provided and the food is excellent. Everyone working there cares. The matron and her deputy are always ready to have a talk. The carers and nurses are first class, our thanks, especially to the Brontë Unit. The home is open and friendly, they have a facilities officer who organises singing and entertainment events she is brilliant. Myself and my family cannot thank all of you enough. You showed us dignity when my wife passed away. We will not forget you.
I’ve been visiting a resident in brushwood for a couple of months now. And although it took the resident a few days to settle in the staff were very patient with him and made him feel at home straight away. He became comfortable within a few days once he got to know some of the lovely staff and I must say I’ve never seen him look so happy and healthy. The staff go above and beyond for not only the residents but also the residents visitors. They're all so very welcoming, and always greeted with a lovely smile. I’m offered numerous cups of tea and snacks on every visit. Nothing seems too much for them, even though they're busy they will always stop to say hi. I can’t thank them enough for making my resident as happy as he is. Which has taken a whole load off the family, knowing he’s happy makes us very happy. I can’t thank all staff enough for the care they provide and I highly recommend brushwood to everyone. Thank you so much.
My mum's birthday this year, due to covid, should really have been a quiet low key visit but thanks to staff arranging tables and seats coinciding it with a singer. We were able to make it a special family affair in the garden with food, balloons and the grandkids running around entertaining their grandma a very special day and we all felt we were visiting our mum/nan/grandma in her own home. Priceless to see how happy she is. Big thank you to the staff for the care and attention they give to our mum.
My dad was very poorly and went from hospital to a home that wasn’t suitable for his needs thus ending back in hospital. He was discharged to Brushwood and it’s been such a relief seeing him cared for, being able to talk on the phone with him, lovely, caring staff, he loves the food and the ‘banter’ with staff. We can take him out for lunch etc and he’s happy to go back which means a lot to us all. Dad tells me he wakes up in the night and goes to chat with nurses and he gets tea and biscuits, little things mean a lot!! He says he has lovely baths and it’s ‘warm’ enough in the rooms which also pleases him as he hates being cold! We were able to take his own furniture and bedding so he’s snug as he was at home. It hurt us all to put dad into a home especially after the first one was the wrong one, but it’s comforting to see him looking healthy and he’s ok. I can always speak about any issues to a nurse or manager so I can’t recommend this home enough our appreciation for dad’s care.
I would recommend Brushwood. My husband is really looked after there. No fault with the staff at all. His room is very clean and nice view out of the window, plus the bathroom is very handy for him.
Brushwood is amazing couldn’t recommend this home enough. After taking care of my dad for three months, I now understand how hard it is to care for someone with dementia and Alzheimer’s. I take my hat off to all the carers they work hard not only looking after my dad but also providing entertainment and activities. The home is spotless and they also accommodate my dad's needs for eating as he is fussy. Thank you for all the hard work that you all do.
I moved my dad last March, 4-days before lockdown. I had moved him from another care home where my dad was getting neglected and was on death's door and would not be here today only through the love, support, care, and the way how the staff and manager treat my dad as their own Dad. He is lively, cleaner, healthier, happier, and alive. Thank you all at Brushwood for looking after and loving my dad. Keep doing what you all do best.
