View Full Details of Hazel End Care HomeMy stay in Hazel End was as a temporary resident for respite care due to a lengthy stay in hospital. The care I received has aided my recover while my home was being adapted. The help and kindness shown to me has benefited me greatly.
There have been quite a few changes in caring and other staff, but seem to have gone through smoothly without affecting residents. Continuity of staff and routines is of paramount importance to residents suffering from Dementia/Alzheimer's conditions, and this has been handled by management and care staff most admirably. Thank you
This care home has been fantastic for my mother. She has her every wish granted, by just clicking the call button around her neck. The home always is very caring, both for my mother and myself They are very aware it's not easy for the family either. Unfortunately, my mum isn't interested in participating in the entertainment that is organised. However, from what I've seen, it always looks enjoyable and gives the residents a lift to be together.
My mother has been a resident of Hazel End for nearly two years. The surroundings, both internally and externally, are lovely and spacious. The total ambience is very friendly and welcoming. The food is plentiful, with lots of healthy options. The entertainment and social activities are regular and well organised. But by far the best asset of this care home is the staff. They go out of their way to make us feel part of a big family. They are caring and kind towards the residents (some of whom can be rather challenging), and efficient in carrying out their duties. I would love to mention staff individually in this review but would end up mentioning all of them! The manager should be proud of herself for leading such a fabulous team. I regularly recommend this care home to friends and acquaintances and will continue to do so.
After these initial few weeks, Mum seems to have settled into a happy, safe place. She's making friends and interacting well with staff all of whom have been welcoming and helpful. It's lovely to see Mum smile again.
My 2 months in this care home have been favourable, especially due to the help from the staff members. The guidance and health care has been very very supportive and personal to me. I have enjoyed the activities with the rest of the members of staff and residents here. The quality of the facilities available adds to the overall enjoyment of my time here. It's a very nice home to stay in.
My father moved into Hazel End in September last year and as he was 99 and still living independently, we had started looking at the possibility of him moving into a care home and when a room became available, we were not going to let the opportunity pass him by. At first, he didn't want to stay (I believe he was home sick sadly), but this was not the case for long and gradually he has become part of the Hazel End family. He has so many friends there, both residents and staff and once more, he is somebody and not just an old man living on his own. He loves the exercise classes there, adores his cheeky chats with the staff and is so happy with the folk who he shares a table with at meal times. We are convinced that if he hadn't made this move, that he would not longer be with us, but he is and he is absolutely thriving and looking forward to turning 100 in a couple of days. We cannot thank the staff enough, for their kindness, compassion, patience and professionalism, you're amazing.
The home has stimulated my dad and kept him going for the last couple of years but it's the little things that have stopped me give excellent all round. I've had to remind cares on more than one occasion to do things that I don't find acceptable.
Hazel End is a very welcoming and friendly home. The home is of a very high standard in care, cleanliness, private facilities and friendly communal areas. The medical care and support are very good and any NHS service is arranged quickly whenever needed. For me, one of the best facilities is the lifestyle ladies, who offer residents daily activities to keep them active and entertained. I love reading the daily social posts which provide comfort whenever I spot my mother taking part. The lifestyle team celebrates any special day, holiday, or birthday so something is happening every day. The food is mostly very good. Both mum and I find the staff very helpful, friendly and supportive.
Our relative has been at Hazel End for 16 months and is a different person. The home is very well run and all the staff who are caring, kind and helpful to residents and visitors are dedicated to their work showing passion in all they do. The medical and personal care is very good. All rooms are clean, bright and airy and the communal areas are spacious. There is a Garden Room which is quiet and peaceful, cinema room for film shows or musical singalongs, a tea room and hairdressers. The chef is very good providing a well-balanced choice of nutritional meals and snacks often from different cultures. Entertainment is excellent, there is always something going on ie, birthday celebration or special occasion, craft group, exercise classes and various games there is something for everyone if they wish to participate. Relatives and friends are also invited and encouraged to join in. We are very satisfied with the overall care received and would highly recommend this lovely care home.
My mum has been at Hazel End just over 3 years. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, reassuring and understanding. Always care staff available to discuss any concerns. Such attention to detail with the decoration and furniture in all rooms. With plenty of activities to keep residents occupied and involved both physically and mentally.
My dad has been here since February and after a few teething problems he's very happy here. There are 4 very special staff who Dad loves as do I! I think the food could improve slightly and the cleaning regime could do with improving but overall it's a lovely care home with lovely staff and as long as Dad is happy that's the main thing.
Hazel End is a modern care home, which almost feels like a hotel and has been our mother's home now for almost a year. After a period of adapting she now seems much happier and settled than before. There is a range of activities that seems to cater to everyone. The staff are very friendly, caring and responsive to requests. Visiting can be at any time and we are always welcomed with a smile.
My mum moved to Hazel End a few months ago. All the staff have been amazing, friendly, welcoming, reassuring, helpful, and understanding. Care staff are always willing to discuss my concerns and answer any questions I might have about Mum. Any issues have been sorted out quickly. The care home is lovely and modern. More like a hotel and less like the care homes of old. Mum is still 'settling in' so things are difficult at times but I know I made the right decision and that Mum is being well looked after. Thank you to all (including 'behind the scenes staff' that I never see).
Hazel End is a real home from home, I often describe it as a little hotel which is always warm and cosy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and they go the extra mile to organise daily activities to keep the residents occupied and entertained. The staff are fond of Mum and she couldn't be anywhere better in my view.
As a family we have been most impressed by Hazel End’s care for our mother. Carers assess her needs on a daily basis and treat her as an individual and allow her to be herself. The care has been professional and kind and our mother regards Hazel End as her home, largely due to the family atmosphere fostered by carers. The senior carers are exemplary in their understanding of her needs and their willingness to meet them.
Well - a very pleasant surprise. The home has only been open a few years. Lovely and modern - pet guinea pig in the foyer. Treated it to its lunch - great! Staff very friendly. Thought the place perfect. One staff member in particular was very attentive. Could not wish for more to be honest.
I would recommend Hazel End Care Home to friends and family. It's very comfortable.
From first entering the home I was greeted with warmth and a smile. All the staff were so friendly and my friend is the happiest she has been for a long time, even saying she wished she had made the move sooner.
My nan moved to Hazel End Care Home four months ago and the care she has received has made such an impact on her health. The manager's door is always open and any issues have been dealt with promptly and with care and compassion. We cannot thank the home enough.
