View Full Details of Barchester Ouse View Care HomeMum went for 2 weeks initial respite care and loved it so much she did not want to leave . The staff without exception are all brilliant - very caring and engaged with residents. Mum is like a different person since being resident at Ouse View - she absolutely loves it - having company 24/7 has been key and she is taking part in activities we never thought she would - brilliant result for mum and brilliant result for us as a family seeing her so happy and content
Friendly, kind v efficient staff. Always a friendly welcome when visiting.
I am very pleased to have stayed here for rest and recuperation and particularly for the assessment of my wife's condition, prior to possible permanent residency. The staff are very skilled, professional and also very caring and also have a sense of fun and enjoyment in this work. I am relieved to know that wife is safe here and that every effort is being made to help her settle in and feel comfortable and happy.
Barchester Ouse View Care Home is a beautiful care home with a fantastic team, who care for my father with such attention and always with a smile. Thank you, as its a relief to know he is safe, cared for and well looked after.
Mum was a resident for 13 months. The care has been nothing less than extraordinary. The home coped well with her dementia and confusion on going into the home and helped us deal with our stress at watching her struggle. Mum did settle and was really happy. When she became ill, ambulances were called quickly and we were also informed in a timely manner. On being ready to be released from the hospital, she was assessed immediately by the home and they facilitated quick repatriation to the home. When Mum became bed-bound and unable to feed herself, the home just responded. She was never left alone for long. She was repositioned regularly, so she never got any bed sores. Her liquid and food intake charts were always up to date. The staff really knew my Mum, we really felt they cared. We, the family were also cared for. An absolute gem of a home. We were all blessed to have found it.
My mother has been a resident for six months now. We continue to be very impressed by the standard of care she has received. All the staff seem to go out of their way to support residents in a friendly but efficient manner and make visitors feel welcome to the home. She is treated as an individual and her specific needs are recognised and addressed. Our view is a lovely environment and staff work so hard to provide first-class care. The fees are not cheap but if you're lucky enough to have the money, it's worth every penny for the peace of mind knowing how good the care is. Thank you to everyone.
My aunt has been at Barchester Ouse View Care Home for just over three months. She always said she never wanted to go into a care home but when she came to look around, she wanted to stay. She is very happy there, she has company, a lovely room, plenty of activities to keep her occupied, good food and most of all, a host of friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Best of all, peace of mind for me as I know she is being well looked after.
My father-in-law came in for two weeks respite care whilst myself and my husband went on a much-needed holiday. The staff were all lovely and brilliant. My father-in-law loved his stay there and said all of the staff were so caring. His room was gorgeous. He loved the meals and also getting involved in the daily activities. It gave us great comfort to know he was in very safe hands so we could actually relax and enjoy our holiday. We would definitely recommend Barchester Ouse View Care Home to everyone we know. We are so thankful and grateful for taking great care of him.
I have spent eight days as a resident in this beautiful care home, well looked after by all the staff and all kitchen and meal assistants. Minor problems have been attended so quickly and efficiently.
A most distressing experience for me as a carer for my husband of 38 years who suffers from Alzheimer's. I needed a weeks respite having been ill myself. It was the hardest decision I have ever made as I promised I would never "put him in a home". I went to Ouse View and was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of staff and environment. Then he had an hours assessment. During both visits I repeatedly stressed that he needed personal care at all times due to incontinence and his inability, to change the necessary pants on his own. I left 50 pairs saying I would get more if required Only 14 out of 50 pairs had been used a week - 2 pairs every 24 hours! He uses 6-9 pairs in 24 hours. He has dementia and doesn't know when they need changing. If asked if he needs changing he will say "no". I had hoped this would be a regular respite care home for him but sadly not. My worst fears recognised. Have tried to get a meeting with the manager to no avail. Top cost doesn't mean top-quality care.
This review covers from January 2024 to the death of my mother-in-law on 1 June. Unfortunately, during this period, the health of my mother-in-law deteriorated to the extent that, for the last few weeks of her life, she became bed-bound and unable to feed or drink unaided so the staff did their very best to assist her. At one point, it was thought that my mother-in-law had had a stroke but far from just shipping her off to hospital, the home consulted us and agreed with us that it would not be in her best interests to be moved. My wife and I cannot thank enough the management and staff of this wonderful home for the care and attention given to my mother-in-law during the last few weeks of her life and for the dignity and respect afforded to her. They kept my wife and me informed of her condition and had no problems with us being at the home whenever we wanted to be there. If I could give this home 11 out of 10, I would.
Mum has been a resident since December 2023, about 5 months now. Although she had said in the past that she never wanted to live in a care home she has settled in well and is very contented. Ouse View is much better than the image she had of a typical care home. It is purpose built which is to the benefit of both the staff and residents. The staff are friendly and caring. Mum is safe and well looked after. She is now dressed everyday and even seen wearing nail varnish! On a recent visit, my daughters both said that she looked much better and was happier than she was before she moved to Ouse View. The social interactions are a real plus. Whenever I have visited I have never found Mum alone in her room. Instead, she is either in one of the lounges or more often in one of the daily activities. She particularly enjoys the regular singsong. It's very comforting to know that Mum is in a safe and caring environment. Keep up the good work.
I came today to take Mum for a walk and when we came back we watched the activity, had a cup of tea, it was just delightful to see how kind the staff were with the residents and how hard they work. It is a lovely environment for my mother to live in.
My father (who has mild dementia) entered Ouse View in early September 2023. He is happy here and regularly advises us he is very well looked after, which is all we want. The staff are fantastic, all very friendly and kind. I visit almost daily and see many staff interactions with other residents, not just on my father's floor but also on the ground floor, and without exception, these have all been wonderfully dealt with. The food is very good, the rooms are of very good proportions, and the whole home is spotlessly kept. My father is kept clean and well dressed and encouraged to partake in the various activities, which he usually does, but, most importantly, my perception is that the staff care for the residents rather than just doing a job. My family and I are very reassured and satisfied that our father is in very good hands.
Professional, caring staff who constantly go above and beyond to fulfil perceived needs. The whole facility is immaculately clean and visitors are welcomed at all times. There are homemade cakes and hot drinks freely available for any guests along with separate toilet facilities in the corridor so that guests do not have to use residents' toilets. The whole experience could not be faulted.
I would like to say a "big thank you" to all the staff at Ouse Vire for taking such good care of me during my recent stay. They have treated me with kindness and dignity and have gone out of their way to help me recover from my recent knee surgery.
Always very friendly staff, very helpful, and you can see they care!
Pleasant aspect, clean and welcoming, all staff very helpful. Enjoyed the break from housework etc. Enjoyed the break, wish it would have been longer. The change did my husband good.
I have not experienced this type of care before but now I have I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or mind at all if I had to come back for another respite stay. It's like home from home, regarding care!
I chose this care home for my mother as I was moving her from another location. As soon as I walked in the atmosphere struck me as a lovely home and the staff was friendly and helpful. It continues to be a friendly and caring environment.
