When visiting Portway House, the staff greeted us with warmth, love and respect. My brother felt relaxed and reassured he was taken care of according to Portway House motto - with excellence. The staff were amazing, though I couldn't see their halo or wings - they were all angels.
My grandmother was a resident at your facility, and our family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and service you provided to her until her final moments. Your dedication to treating each resident as an individual did not go unnoticed, and we sincerely appreciate the kindness and compassion you showed her throughout her time with you. Thank you for making such a difficult time a little easier for our family
I came here from hospital, I have been here for 3 weeks. Portway House is very big inside with 3 floors for different people. There are activities for all people to do in different ways. It's very well looked after the cleanliness is spot on. I'm waiting for a permanent bed. I thought to myself is this the place for me? But you know what made my mind up simply it was the people who work here. Carers Nurses Managers activity planner. They put a smile on your face every day. They are the easiest going have a chat with and a laugh with and make you feel very welcome. I think that's the best thing ever being in a different place that's what you need. Comfort and friendly staff. Makes a world of difference. It's hard at first being in a care home but the rooms are lovely nice-sized en suite. Press the buzzer if you need help or a cup of tea. Recommended 10 out of 10 by me. Happy Days.
Do not place a loved one in here. My Dad was a resident for 14 months and only had 1 shower in all that time and we had to beg for that! Some of the staff are rude and think nothing of shouting in your face when asked questions about the lack of basic care your loved one receives. The food was the same slop, day in and day out. It is no surprise that Dad stopped eating and lost a lot of weight! When in an emergency, DIY as it takes staff 5 mins to arrive after the emergency bell is pushed, our Dad nearly choked to death! He's been left sitting in his own mess, as a high-risk choker he's been laid nearly flat and has the bedroom door closed so he can't raise the alarm if needed as he's bedbound! There's zero interaction in activities for bedbound residents, they're just left in their rooms alone. The manager, well, just beware, she's not as friendly as she pretends! And she lies! Sorry, but it is the truth and we have evidence! She evicted our Dad due to our complaints of lack of basic care! Disgusting place.
My Uncle was placed here after having a heart attack he was making an amazing recovery, but then had a fall (his own fault) and had to go back to the hospital, on returning to Portway House the carers did an amazing job looking after him and nursing him as he was palliative bu this time. They were also amazing with us as a family and very supportive. A big thank you to all involved.
Mom came to Portway House from the hospital after breaking her femur after a fall and not being able to walk. The facilities and room were always clean, she was overall looked after very well. The carers were excellent towards her care. Mom was helped with her rehabilitation and she was able to come home after a lot of hard work and determination on her part, no mean feat at 91! Would recommend this care home - 9/10.
Portway House have been amazing at looking after my dad. I live in London, so it's very comforting to know that he is being well looked after. My sister, who lives close by, regularly gives me updates and the home keep in close contact with my dad if there are any issues. My dad seems very happy and content.
5-star home in every aspect. Amazing manager, nothing too much trouble. Carer's so caring and thoughtful with the residents. Would highly recommend it. I only wish that she could have lived to enjoy the facilities that are on offer in this superb nursing home. once again a 5-star rating.
The management and the staff are so good. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The care is excellent, couldn't wish for any better treatment of my dear friend. She is in the right place, 5*. Spotlessly clean, also 5*. Would recommend 5*.
Lovely clean home, staff are lovely too. Takes a long time for equipment to be repaired or replaced. Needs more interaction with other residents rather than being left in a room day after day. Can't fault the food and the overall care.
Excellent, clean. Fantastic staff. Polite and friendly.
I am currently at this care home receiving respite treatment. During my time here I have been made to feel comfortable and I get on with the care staff that work in this home.
All the staff and facilities are excellent. Whatever was asked was treated courteously, nothing too much trouble.
Fantastic service, excellent staff, very clean, and residents well looked after.
The home always makes you feel welcome and the 2 staff at the front reception have a good morning and smiles. Everywhere is spotless. Their dining hall is a place for anyone who wishes to use it, activities are for those able to do them even if they are unable, 'help is there'. Every other week the hairdresser comes which makes the ladies feel better.
From day one of finding a bed at Portway for my nan, the staff have been nothing but supportive, welcoming and friendly. The home is always warm and clean, and staff take the time to get to know residents and their families. They have created a beautiful memory board for Nan, the nurses ensure family are kept updated and the care staff have built a wonderful rapport with Nan to help anticipate her needs/moods and help soothe her when agitated due to her severe Alzheimer's. Nan is being so well looked after, it brings such peace of mind to the family.
I am extremely happy to have found a bed for my dad at Portway House, who is suffering from Parkinson's disease, dementia and psychosis. My dad has not had the best care whilst being a resident at other care homes. He doesn't trust very easily due to the poor treatment elsewhere. Here at Portway House, the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure Dad has the best care and nursing possible, my dad has settled here very well. He has told me he likes the staff and they look after him very well. He is extremely comfortable in his room, with everything at hand for Dad's ease of use. Nothing has been too much trouble to accommodate Dad or us as a family for that matter. Staff are very welcoming and polite, they make you feel like part of a huge family. I am so happy Dad can spend the rest of his time here with us, in comfort and peace, with the very best of care, dignity and compassion also. Portway house is also extremely clean in every part of the home and very well maintained.
When entering Portway House I have always received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The home is always lovely and warm and noticeably very clean with a beautiful smell. The manager is very approachable always pleasant and helpful. She makes a conscious effort to personally go and see the residents and make herself known to them. I think this is a lovely touch and can brighten up their day. I feel interaction and communication are vital for the residents to feel like Portway House is their home.
We always find Portway House clean and friendly. The staff are always friendly. We come here to visit a dear friend and he always looks comfy here!
