View Full Details of Castor Lodge Care HomeI recently underwent major surgery and as I am sole carer for my wife, I booked a weeks respite care for myself for the period after leaving hospital and two weeks covering that time and my stay in hospital for my wife. This turned out to be an excellent decision. The care that I received was first class and I was secure in the knowledge that my wife was similarly being looked after. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful and I would recommend the home to anyone who is in need of care.
My father in law was in Castor Lodge and enjoyed his stay but it seems that personal belongings go missing and nobody seems bothered about it as when he passed they had lost his gold wedding ring and wallet but they are not bothered about investigating it as we were always told the items were in the safe but apparently it was a lie. So it seems that sticky fingers are about.
For a year, my friend lived in Castor Lodge Care Home and I visited him every 3 weeks or so when someone would drive me there as I am 92. I think it would not be possible to find a better care home in the whole country. The building is spacious, very well kept and is very welcoming. Very nice meals are provided each room cleaned daily, and lots of activities to join if residents choose. Totally first class.
I came for two weeks of respite care to give my family and myself a break. I found all the residents and staff were very welcoming and Castor Lodge came to be a real home from home. The care from all the staff was excellent and the food was first-class. There were lots of inclusive activities to suit all as well as quiet places to sit. You never feel alone here. Friends and family are always welcome. I look forward to visiting again soon. I did have an unexpected health problem whilst I was here which was dealt with promptly and professionally to the relief of my family. Thank you.
My sister has now had two respite stays in Castor Lodge Care Home and they have been excellent. My sister now calls it her home. Everyone is kind, caring and understanding. Myself and my sister wish to thank all the staff for being there for us when we needed them most. Thank you.
The care provided by everyone at Castor Lodge is excellent. My dad is content and the most relaxed I have seen him in a long time. There is always someone around who is happy to answer any questions I may have. I would happily recommend the care home to anyone.
My respite stay at Castor Lodge was excellent in all areas. New things can be very daunting when you are unwell, but the friendly and warm atmosphere was coupled with the obvious intention of every member of staff to make my stay enjoyable and relaxing. My thanks to all.
The care and professionalism shown to my relative have been superb. All staff are caring and loving, they go above and beyond to ensure residents feel special at what is a very difficult transition. Activities are amazing and much effort is put into obtaining views from residents and relatives. Medical updates and communication are very good. All queries have been promptly dealt with and resolved. My relative is safe, enriched and thriving at Castor Lodge Care Home.
The care home was comfortable and clean, the food was good, the staff were very kind, helpful and cheerful. I quite enjoyed my stay there while my daughter was on holiday and would recommend the whole service to friends.
I enquired about a stay at Castor Lodge Care Home to follow knee replacement surgery. I felt I needed somewhere for a short period to recover from surgery before going home. We live in a house with steep stairs and an upstairs loo! From my initial enquiry, I was dealt with nothing but kindness, efficiency and care. At the last minute, my surgery was brought forward by a few days, traumatic enough in itself but I wasn't to feel I'd be anything other than welcomed when I arrived even though it was a bank holiday. From the moment I arrived, somewhat bruised, battered and a little shocked, nothing was too much trouble. I had all the attention I needed at the touch of a button, was always dealt with kindly and the catering was wonderful, served every mealtime in my room with a smile. I can only thank everyone for making a traumatic experience much easier to bear. I only wish I'd been mobile enough to experience everything they had to offer. Thank you to everyone there!
My mother has settled remarkably well into Castor Lodge Care Home which is a great achievement for all concerned. The staff are attentive. All her needs are met and despite her being very adept at complaining, she is complimentary about the place. I am pleased that she has finally settled into a home where she is content and enjoying life to the best of her ability.
My husband went into Castor Lodge Care Home in March after four weeks in hospital. He was very weak and frail but has made very good progress with the excellent care at Castor Lodge. Castor Lodge has all the equipment needed for his care. As an owner of a care home and nursing home in the 70s, I know what I am talking about when I say there is nothing to complain about at Castor Lodge. All staff are kind and the home has a lovely atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit on a daily basis.
I felt very confident about Castor Lodge Care Home from the moment I first arrived to look around. The physical environment is fabulous with the home located on the edge of a lovely village with views out over the countryside. Residents have a lot of personal space and good facilities in their individual rooms and there are many smart and comfortable communal areas for activities and socialising, including well-kept gardens. The staff are amazing, caring, encouraging and supportive of residents and their families alike. There is always someone on hand to help and communication with the home is very easy. I have complete peace of mind that my parents are safe and cared for and their physical and emotional needs are being looked after very well.
The staff at the care home are always very welcoming, there is always a lovely, warm atmosphere. The range of activities varies from week to week which accommodates most people and the quality of the care given is done with empathy and compassion. Each resident is treated with respect and as an individual.
From my professional and personal experience, I have visited many care homes and I know an exceptional one when I see it. Castor Lodge Care Home is one. The management team are dedicated to providing a safe, caring, happy and stimulating environment for the residents and they encourage high standards from all their staff. Relatives and carers are warmly welcomed and supported and communication between them and the home is good. We, as her family, are always confident that t he very best is being provided for our dear mother-in-law at Castor Lodge.
My mother moved here in August. It was a huge thing for her so close to her 102nd birthday. From the very first moment, she was made welcome and to feel safe and at home. She loves Castor Court, has made friends and looks so well now. Sprucely turned out, treated with respect and dignity. Our relief is palpable.
Greeted by the customer relations manager on arrival on 18th July 2022, suitcase and clothes were unpacked and hung in the wardrobe. All staff are extremely helpful and polite. Food is excellent and well cooked, five-star. The customer relations manager typed a proposal for a magazine. A volunteer was very attentive to my needs. Experienced urinary incontinence (treated well). Endless supplies of caffè latte in the bistro! The manager is colourfully dressed and smart.
Never thought a care home could be so exceptional. The building and facilities are as good, if not better than many five-star hotels! The food was outstanding and most enjoyable with a good variety. As for the staff, management and carers, they were all very kind and always available. Very well organised. Overall 100%. Could you organise the weather better so more time could be spent outside?
I am very content with the care afforded to my wife. This is supported by our three sons and the whole family, including her brother and sister.
1st experience of a care home. Was looking for 4 weeks' respite for my mum. Was initially wowed by the reception/lobby/outside grounds. Given a tour by the manager and all seemed great, looking back at it now and with more knowledge, there were a few red flags. Was given a strong impression that they were dementia "experts", yet flooring/bathrooms were in grey which is a big no-no with dementia as it's seen as a big hole by the patient. We booked and pre-paid for 4 weeks. 1st week started seeing things that we weren't happy with including food that was not cut up. Dehydrated as left to decide when they want a drink. Personal hygiene not up to standard. Day trip out with no food or water, expected patients to pay. How does that even work with dementia? thankfully bus driver bought my mum lunch. Removed her from the home after 10 days which caused a lot of stress, manager admitted they didn't have the staff. Looking elsewhere now with a good view of how things shouldn't be done.
