View Full Details of Barchester Waterside Court Care HomeMum moved permanently to Waterside Court in September 2021. She has dementia and over the past three years there have been significant changes in what she has been able to achieve. She has always appreciated the care and support she receives from all staff (including house keeping and cleaning staff) and now she is further along her dementia journey this helps her to feel secure with the people she sees routinely. This is so important when life as you once knew it is falling away from you. Mum's ability to enjoy activities is considerably less than it was but she is taken to all the activities, of which there are plenty, and she enjoys them. Enjoyment of being 'in the moment' is vital. From the minute you walk in to Waterside Court you are received with welcoming smiles and are made to feel at home.
Since Mum became a permanent resident in September 2021, we have been very pleased with the care she has received. Mum is very calm and relaxed and this is all down to the excellent care she receives from all the staff. We, as a family, are comforted that Mum is safe and secure and is well looked after. She is in a lovely room close to the dining room and lounge area, where she is often found when the family come to visit.
I absolutely love the Barchester Waterside Court Care Home. The staff and the management are an absolute delight - caring, living and very professional as well as making everyone feel like one big family. I love coming to visit my mother-in-law. meeting all the residents and the staff, it is a really wonderful experience.
The staff are really caring which is the most important thing. The home is lovely with several lounges to sit in as well as ensuite bedrooms for all residents. There are several activities during the week which the residents can choose to participate in. A favourite activity is when they have a singer or musician visiting. The home try to get one most weeks but it is not always possible. I would like it to be a couple of times a week as it really lifts all the residents moods no end. The only way I can see this happening is to book acts a year in advance or at least several months ahead. The dining room is laid out very nicely. The menu however is a bit repetitive and not at its best by the time it is served. I would like to see a larger variety of sandwiches at supper time for those residents who do not want another cooked meal.
We have only recently discovered Waterside Court when we needed to find care at very short notice for my in-laws. I was so confident it was the right place for them when I looked around that we didn't consider anywhere else. It was a complicated move but the staff were exceptional in lining everything up very quickly. My in-laws have settled in well and love it here. As visitors to the home, we are kept apprised of how they are adapting and are always made to feel extremely welcome.
My husband who has FrontoTemporal Dementia went to Waterside Care Home for 2 weeks of respite care in order for me to have a break from caring for him. I am grateful for the empathetic care he received from the excellent care home staff. The facilities, management and the security offered there are top quality.
I have been very impressed by this care home ever since my first visit to access it for my husband. I am even more impressed since he came in for respite. The staff had to work hard to overcome his extreme reluctance to be here; eventually he settled in and began to enjoy the activities. Family members visiting him always found him cheerful and this showed in the photos which they took and forwarded to me. Many thanks to all those involved in his care.
My husband had a very happy stay for five nights respite care to give me a break. As always, he was very well looked after and felt secure and enjoyed himself. I am so grateful for this vital respite facility and do hope that beds for respite will remain available. Thank you to all the staff.
The home services manager is more than helpful at all times. Nothing is too much trouble.
My 92-year-old father originally had 4 weeks respite after an unexpected operation. The home offered excellent facilities and the staff were all amazing. He agreed after 4 weeks that he should stay permanently. Everyone working at the home has made this an easy decision for my father and his family because they are all professional and very caring. A variety of activities are also organised.
All staff have been so helpful. My friend has settled in nicely. We are both happy with the facilities.
My father came to Barchester Waterside Court Care Home for respite care due to his onset of dementia. Unfortunately, due to a severe stroke, he had to be sent to hospital and after review and consideration of his needs, we had my father returned to Waterside for end-of-life care. The Waterside team were fantastic, caring, compassionate and could not have been anymore helpful in my father's last days. We are very thankful to the Waterside team.
Very elegant surroundings and warm welcome. The building is very well decorated and the staff are pleasant and helpful.
Wonderful welcome - great coffee, residents all have smiling face and praise all the staff.
We have found our preferred respite home; I will be back! It is salutary to be with more elderly people, but the quality of accommodation and care is very good. I remind myself why I am here; respite for my wonderful wife, whose loving care cannot be replicated. Thank you very much.
Made to feel welcome. Given time and space for own quiet time. Good options of what activities available, always something to suit everyone. Felt at home, able to make coffee when I wanted. The staff were brilliant, good sense of humour and were very encouraging. Valued having a room with a patio door to get out to walk in the garden. Liked the walk-in shower. Thank you.
We have found everything about Barchester very professional. The building is lovely and the staff are very caring. They have helped my mother-in-law to settle in really well. The whole experience has been very easy and relaxed.
We care across Waterside Court almost by accident, but it has been a true lifesaver, not just for both my parents but for myself too, as a caregiver. My parents have both had three weeks of respite, and they look ten years younger. They have been treated like royalty, with dignity, kindness, love and compassion and have agreed to many more visits/stays. The staff are fantastic, and one member of staff, well, we will always be so grateful for the kindness you have shown. I highly recommend Waterside and can't thank you enough.
From the moment Mum arrived here at Waterside she was made to feel very welcome and part of a family. I visit her regularly and have excellent communication from the staff about her health and well being. They are very positive and the standard of care is excellent. Initially, Mum was reluctant to accept the care that was on offer but now that self same support has become part of her routine and is welcomed gratefully.
We visit out friend regularly she is an ex-neighbour of forty years. A wrench having to leave her home but she appears to be very happy and the staff are good and she has settled in very well and enjoying company, about her which didn't happen living in her house.
